I decided to cancel my appointment from how the office manager jerel called me. It made me uncomfortable and very rushed. He spoke very fast and hard. If thats how the phone calls go, I'm not interested in the service... I had ALL intentions on going and I'm upset that he called me like that. Also, when I said I'd like to cancel. I received the open system service, it was my first time so I was a little intimidated; but Belinda was incredibly helpful and comforting. Not to be gross, but did you know you're supposed to get rid of 2 feet of waste per day?!?! TWO FEET! I won't get into any more details, but I wasn't overachieving in this area. So... Don't be deterred by the jankety elevator. This place provides quality care and assistance. The colonic was much less uncomfortable/embarassing than I could've imagined. Christina was my therapist and she was so helpful and caring, that it didn't feel weird in the least to have her doing this procedure. I instantly felt lighter and it really made me think about what I put in my body. Doesn't mean I will change everything, but they provided some very helpful guidelines and suggestions. I walked into the "lobby" and was basically ignored for 20 minutes. Then the lady behind the "counter" asked 2 of the women waiting if I was with them and both of them said no. Then she looks at me perplexed as if I were lost or something asking me what I was doing there. I said, I'm just a customer and would like to know if I could get a service done. She said, "you can't just walk in and ask for a service you have to make an appointment." Uh, okay! I guess I'll write a review about this place on Halsted that people walk in and out of all the time that basically dissed a man. I have nothing but food things to say about this place. I've had some really iffy stomach issues the last few years and knew I needed a restart. I've never gotten a colonic, but this was exactly what my stomach needed. It's not easy and was not uncomfortable at all. I booked an initial consultation with Christina based on positive Yelp reviews. My new-customer experience with Cleanse Chicago and Christina was terrifically disrespectful. I used their website to become a new customer and booked a same-day appointment. I arrived 7 minutes late but learned that my appointment was not confirmed. Christina made a point to let me know that I was actually 37 minutes late because they needed me to arrive for the initial 60-minute consultation 30 minutes early. I also needed to refrain from eating or drinking for two hours prior to the consultation. I let Christina know that none of this information was on their website. She pointed out that she tried to contact me repeatedly, as if I should have kept my phone strapped to my person after using their website. To add insult to injury, Christina spoke to me like I was a third grader, not like a respectful adult in need of help and wanting to become a customer and purchase their services. While I cannot recommend a business that treats new customers the way Cleanse Chicago treated me, I would like to let any prospective customers know the following: - After using the website, you need to call the business and give your credit card information so that the initial session has a credit card authorization. - Don't eat or drink two hours prior to the initial consultation session. - Plan on arriving 30 minutes prior to the 60-minute initial consultation session. read more

My latest experience with Healing Quest was so terrible, it was actually nonexistent since no one was there for my appointment. I scheduled my appointment for a Friday morning, and when I arrived, no one answered the buzzer. When the doorman finally arrived (yep, I had beaten everyone to the building!) he took me upstairs, but the office was dark. I waiting about 20 minutes, then left. In their defense, they did call to apologize & reschedule, but in my opinion, that was the worst case of service ever and I decided to take my business elsewhere. It should also be noted that they have a rather agressive fruit fly problem in the building, both in the elevator as well as the floor where the clinic is. I thought it was pretty disgusting, given the type of service that they offer, to have bugs everywhere. Gross. read more

This is the 3rd place I've been for colon cleansing in the Chicago area, and it's my favorite! If you peruse the website, you will see they offer both closed and open type colonics. In addition, there are nutritionists, ayurvedic practitioners, and acupuncturists on staff should you need additional help or guidance. I have one word of caution. When I called to schedule my appointment, I was asked if I wanted a male or female colon hydrotherapist. It wasn't super important to me, but I said "female". When I got there, though, it was a male, Liam, that administered my colonic. He was great; knowledgeable and completely professional and got some really nasty stuff out of me. I will probably ask for him again he got so much crap out of me. But if the sex of your hydrotherapist is crucial, you may want to confirm and reconfirm with the receptionist. Metered street parking was easy. Several people have mentioned the old fashioned elevator, so I won't go into great detail, but you can always take the stairs. It's worth it. read more

I've been a client here for years and years and years.....seriously since 1998.....and have always had a fantastic experience! The space is calm and relaxing.....a sweet little waiting area....free herbal tea and lots of feel good reading material. The actual colonic rooms are clean and cozy....the closed-system room has a toilet located inside of the room.....which is a huge plus in my book! I usually get a Jimmy John which is and open-system colonic and more of a DIY experience.......but I've also had many of the closed-system colonics where the therapist is present and manipulates the water flow for you. All of the therapists that I've had over the years have been wonderful......knowledgeable and professional but also kind and caring.....which is definitely something you want when having a colonic....trust me :) Overall....like I said....I've always had a great experience when I've come in for an appointment....I feel like the therapists take a service that could be perceived as awkward, embarrassing or uncomfortable and through information, education, really excellent customer service and a sincerely caring attitude toward their clients.....make it a service that is calming, relaxing and pleasant! read more

hands down the worst place i have ever been, i litrally had to make a yelp account just to review these people really rude staff not only did they give attitude on the phone they gave it in person, during my sauna session they knocked on the door 4 times to make sure i was coming out when i wasn't taking long at all let me start off by saying i am visiting chicago but in my home in la i own a sauna and my best friend has a wonderful sauna therapy company in hollywood http://www.sweatheory.com so i know what i am talking about first of all i asked if they had a shower and she said no for safety reasons, whatever that means? all major sauna places offer a shower bc in theory u sweat a lot and then u want to rinse off, although i hardly sweat in this one do not come here, do not waste your $$ the fact that they charge $30 to not sweat is a crime bc these machines arent even expensive about 15 min halfway through my session without water, without sweating i realized they had the shipping covers on the inferred panels!! which is why the machine wasnt working and by the way is a safety hansard. i should really report them bc these could easily catch on fire so.. i removed the slips off, they come right off and can be put back on easily, i folded them in a net pile and i finally began to sewat thank god i was then called by a staff member shouting at me telling me that what i had done was property damage and that they would be charging my card for damages what damages?? i removed a piece of fabric not meant to be their that easily comes off and on needles to say i am having my lawyer take care of this but trust me you do not want to deal with these unproffesstional people, this place is fill;ed with scam artists and is a joke !!!!!!!!!! read more

Terrible service. I had an appointment and when I got there there was no one to be found. I tried ringing the bell they have on the counter to get someone's attention...and nothing. After waiting for 10 minutes I decided to call to see if someone would answer. Someone did, and I could actually hear him talking from behind the lobby door. I said I had an appointment at 3:15 and he said nothing was available until 5. I explained that I had made the appointment online. Went to Christina after being referred by a coworker. Had the best experience...very knowledgeable and this lady knows what she's doing! (For over 20 years) She sat down and explained everything to me before we got started and also tips for my diet after as well. The process was not scary at all and she makes an almost awkward situation seem like a walk in the park...even including a heated table and abdominal massage. Charged me full price anyway--and the therapist was really hostile about it to boot. Don't go here. You can't trust these folks. Karyn's (on Ashland) is now getting my business, and everyone there is so nice and takes great care of you. They have all sorts of cleansing and holistic health treatments at Karyn's. Great place for a colonic! Cozy little space, separate treatment rooms and private bathrooms. The private bath is yours and yours only for the duration of your visit. Only downside, no shower. I spent time in the sauna, which was great. A shower after would made the experience even more amazing. Booked a same day appointment with Christina and she was wonderful. Knowledgeable, thorough, and made me feel extremely comfortable. I did the closed system and she was excellent with the belly massaging, and procedure overall. I'm a believer in alternative medicine, so when it was time to schedule the colonoscopy I wanted colonics over drugs. Researching online I found Cleanse Chicago. Called and made an appointment; following their procedures I drank a gallon of water (the day before) and arrived a half hour before the procedure. Was told there was ample parking, both free street and paid parking. Good luck with either. Depending on the time of day, paid parking is full, and the same for the street. The waiting area was small with a bench type seating. One of the questions I asked was if there was private bathroom, and if they used disposable hoses and tubes. Was told yes to both, but found out that the restroom was not in the same room where the colonic took place; in fact you had to walk across a common hall to get to it. You have to request disposable hoses and tubes. The therapist, Tina, was fine. Upon completion I was told to wrap the towel around my waist and run across the hall to the bathroom and she would bring in my clothes. Now I don't embarrass easily, but while you are on the toilet having someone come in, with their back turned away and set your clothes down was a little surprising, even for me. I also wanted to try their infrared sauna. I thought that that would come before the colonic, but was done after. Again you had to walk down a hall to the sauna, which was extremely small and difficult to enter and exit, with no shower. read more

The building was old and seemed a little dingy. Once you step into the office its like you stepped into a whole other building. My therapist was Tina she was awesome. Walked me through what I should eat and not eat and didn't force me to buy all these products or make me feel bad for past choices. The colonic was not uncomfortable if you breathe. That's the key. They offer both open and closed systems, including the Jimmy John III. Christina is great with her clients and really cares about your well being. Plan on spending about $90 for the initial consulation, and then $75 for each additional visit. However they have pakcages for 5 and 10 sessions, that in the past they have let you share with a friend, and that can bring the cost down to about $65 a session. read more

The new location and service is awful. No street parking. U need to pay 8$+ up for parking. I came to use the sauna. At the new location they have it in a closet! Not Kidding!! I'm only 5'4" and 105 lbs and had difficulty getting undressed and into the sauna in a closet! They provided no water to drink while in the 150 degree sauna. Nor would they allow you to shower after! I had a colonic at Colon Care yesterday with Tina and it was a very good experience. After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried but everything went really well. I first called and made my appointment. I had several questions: Open vs closed system, how long the colonic lasts, etc. The woman I spoke with was very pleasant and more than happy to answer every question I had. She advised me that for the first appointment I need to show up 30 minutes prior to my appt time. As I was ending a 3 day juice cleanse I really wanted the 5pm colonic slot so I could hit it on my way home from work. I stated that I would possibly be there by 445pm and she was completely fine with that. Luckily I arrived right at 430 and began to fill out my paperwork. As 5pm was approaching I began to feel a little anxious that I would not get the amount of time promised because I was brought back closer to 515pm and after I undressed and got on the bed it was closer to 520pm before we started. Tina was awesome, she was a wealth of knowledge and talked to me about everything that should and maybe shouldn't be put in my body and gave me a packet of information to take with. This was the 3rd colonic I have ever had in my life and I'm not sure if I just know what to expect now but this was by far the least uncomfortable. She was very empathetic to any issues I had and just a really cool person to be hanging out with during a colonic LOL As the time to end drew closer she advised me that she was going a little over since we started late, she didn't want me to feel like I was getting jipped. I loved that! That truly made me feel like she cared even though I had forgotten by then about my fear of not getting enough colonic time. :) As for things other reviewers have brought up: -The receptionist wasn't overly friendly but she wasn't straight up rude either. I did hear her chatting up another customer before me but it seemed like she was a regular. -The elevator, I loved it. It was an old school open the gate and door kind of elevator. I have never been in one and I think its quite charming. Basically its all in everyone's own taste how you feel about the place. I went to Colon Care Hydrotherapy for the first and last time a couple of weeks ago. The process was much more uncomfortable than my first experience. Although the space and personnel are very warm and friendly, I was creeped out by the building - dank, dirty, dingy, and gray - until I entered the oasis of their office, tucked away on the 4th floor, where they welcomed me with smiles and tea. In summary, the upside was the people and the tranquility of the space - 5 STARS. The downside is the isolated location of the building - 2 STARS. read more
