Brought my husband here for float therapy as a Christmas present. Booked the couples float session. From check in to leaving, we had an extremely pleasant experience here! The place is very calming and chic, and the staff were very friendly and thoroughly explained everything. While we waited, we were offered to take advantage of their tea station. The room where wer had our session was sizable, and the tub was extremely large, perfect for my very tall husband. The room also had all the amenities needed for a perfect session. Afterwards, I was directed to a bar where there was hair styling tools and products, as well as body products. First time I've encountered this! Overall, awesome experience from start to finish. I love this place!! it was such a great find. It's hidden away but once you enter the spa aroma hits right when you get out of the elevator. It the infrared sauna is so relaxing and its perfect during winter. The float tanks are so amazing , there is a small learning curving getting adjusted in the tank but that only takes a few minutes and then you can float away. The cyro therapy is also great , it goes by fast but it does help with neck and shoulder pain. Also the shampoo and conditioner in the showers in float tank rooms are verb and they smell so good. Luxury price but the service is mediocre. There are hot cold therapies for half the price with similar vibe. Shared bathroom, so you will be changing in public. The cold plunge is set to 46 degrees and did not change after attempting to. The informational laminated print out on the wall suggests ideal temp of 50-55 degrees. For many bodies, 46F is just too cold. I spent most of the session warming up from the cold plunge and shivering for a very long time. There was no tea or decompression bench in a common area - again, something $80 luxury would offer for a 45 minute session. read more

If you're considering this place for a massage, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I usually go to Milk and Honey or The Now, but I decided to try something different this time. Their lymphatic massage duo treatment sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The treatment was supposed to last two hours, but it ended up being about an hour and 25 minutes -- a frustrating waste of time. The masseuse talked to me throughout the session, which made it far from relaxing, and since the session was cut short, I didn't get the full massage time. The treatment was supposed to start with 45 minutes in the sauna, but I was only in there for about 25 minutes. The massage itself was supposed to be an hour and 15 minutes, but the total time spent there barely added up to an hour and 25 minutes. On top of that, the dressing room was incredibly small and not what I'd expect from a spa in River North. While I can recommend plenty of better places for a massage, I will say their float treatment is unique, and you won't find that at many other spots -- but proceed with caution. read more

I came here for a first time float and overall had a good experience. It's kind of a weird location, down the stairs into a basement by some boxes and random furniture. I booked the King room for the float but it felt small. There was a shower, a place to sit, and the entrance to the float tank which was in the shower. I thought it would've been nice to have at least a sink and mirror in the room, and ideally also a bathroom. I did get water when I asked for it, but I think it would be great to provide it to everyone. The tank felt quite small--I actually bumped into the edges several times which was disorienting. It also felt hot, definitely above body temperature for me, and I was sweating during the second half. I also thought the six minutes given to shower at the beginning felt too short, and I definitely missed the beginning of the float. I felt rushed even though I arrived early (but I did end 15 minutes after so it wasn't rushed on the back end). It also was really difficult to hear the start signal since you're supposed to put the earplugs in before you shower. Overall I personally wouldn't plan to return but it was a pretty decent experience. Also, I wear contacts but didn't have issues leaving them in during the float (also you have to bring your own case and there isn't anywhere to put glasses in the tank). They mentioned there were hair products but there was no mirror or anything in the room besides shampoo and conditioner, so that must've been in some other room that no one directed me to. read more

I can't believe I've lived in River North for almost 5 years and have just heard about this place! Definitely a hidden gem. The spa is beautiful! Such a luxe, relaxing ambiance. I had a lymphatic massage with Maya which was incredible! Great pressure and super friendly. They use their hands and wood tools (the wood tools do not hurt and actually feel good/do a good job of activating blood flow that can be hard to do with just hands, especially in the legs). What a disappointing experience. I was expecting a luxury spa atmosphere, service, and amenities. The infrared sauna is lovely, but the rest of the experience was not great. The "upscale locker room" is the size of a large bathroom, and the door opens directly into you when you're standing at the lockers (ie, hit you in the head or butt, whichever is bigger). The opening of the door opens two feet from and facing the shower, so hopefully no one is walking past the door while you're getting in/out of the shower. There is one small bench at the vanity with a pile of towels and shower puffs on it, so should I move those to sit and use the "beauty bar" (which consisted of contact solution and lotion the day I was there)? There aren't any hand towels, just the shower puff things, how are those sanitized? The sauna was a good size with two large benches along the walls, and a small moveable bench also, so a good amount of room for 1-4 very familiar people to enjoy the heat. It's nice that there is a chair to sit outside the sauna, in case you get too hot and want to cool off a bit. There's a small table with a tray covered in a towel, on top of it a diffuser and a stack of tiny plastic cups and other things. I asked for some water, and very quickly a carafe of ice-cold water with a silicone lid was delivered. So now this tiny table has my mask, my glasses, cell phone, a stack of tiny plastic glasses, a diffuser, the lid for the water, a himalayan salt lamp, and a carafe of ice-cold water. There's also 8-10 more square feet of real estate in this room that could verrrry easily accommodate another table or a shelf. Where would more than one person even put their cups? I purposely booked my infrared sauna directly before the massage with the plan that the heat from the sauna will loosen up my muscles and that will carry over into the massage. And then I was still sitting in the waiting room in a bathrobe for 25 minutes after the sauna when I asked how much longer it would be. At 15 minutes past my massage appointment time, they told me it would be another 10 minutes. Then the massage therapist popped her head into the waiting area to apologize for the wait and told me it would be a few more minutes. When I left without a massage, because I don't really want to pay full price for a rushed half massage, the woman at the front desk apologized and said people were just "running on Monday vibes". I'm not really sure what that means, but from my perspective, it means other people were late, and instead of cutting their time short Freeze & Float decided to ignore the reservation I had made. A reservation they would've charged me $25 more for had I been 15+ minutes late like they were. She offered me a complimentary massage another day, but there was really nothing that made me think going back would be better. Had they let me know they'd be late or if they offered a few more minutes of sauna time to bridge the gap, I would've gone back. But ignoring me, being annoyed I don't want to wait past an appointment time, then suggesting I come back another day "that will work better for you" as if it were my fault the appointment was late? That's a special level of rude customer service I'm not going to pay for. If you're looking for cryo, infrared, or float experiences this is maybe a good option but set your expectations appropriately, this is not a luxury spa experience. read more

Wow! This place is amazing. I'm flying back to California right now after just completing my first float over a business trip to Chicago. Sitting in an uncomfortable airplane chair, I'm reminiscing at how wonderful floating was. I have a lot of friends that tell me about the benefits or meditation. I always struggle to find value because I can't seem to get my mind to stop moving. They tell me it takes time and I usually give up. Until a week ago. Freeze & Float was the very first time in years I've had one hour of complete peace and quiet and was able to shut my mind completely off which led me to reach a total peace from within. I've heard of floating before, but hesitated on trying (partially because it felt like a hassle having to wash my hair after). Don't make my mistake and give it a try. It's wonderful. The spa carries everything you'd need to get ready, they even have a Dyson blowdryer! The staff is super friendly and helpful with how to get the best experience from your floats. During a quick trip back to Chicago I wanted to get scrubbed down before I flew Back home. I set up an appointment for body exfoliation. At freezing float spa. I arrived and found out It was in the basement. For being in a basement it was an extremely tranquil environment. Maya was my attendant, she was welcoming and felt relaxed. After my exfoliating session, I took a shower. Even washed my hair there, which I don't usually do, and left feeling rejuvenated. This place is lovely. I wish I remembered the gentleman's name- he's one of the co-owners, but he was very kind and helpful explaining the offerings, the process and made an effort to make sure I had a good experience. The spa is very clean and in the basement level of a building with luxury furniture tenants, and on the weekend at least you have to buzz in, so bear that in mind when it's cold or dark outside. I'm knocking a star off, but not maliciously. I highly recommend the place but there are some things to know that might have made it. 5-star experience. If you want to do the floatation tank, please know their neck float is like a donut so there is a hole in the center -- your head and hair will get fully wet. They don't have the kind your head rests on top of (which I realize your head would still get wet with but not fully immersed.) I am African American with 3c - 4a hair, so if you're like me and your hair takes more than a rinse & blow dry to be ready: plan accordingly- both in how much time you allot in your day & in bringing whatever styling products you would need. To be clear, they DO provide shampoo & conditioner and have styling products, it's just not for ALL hair types. This is typical with spas, but if the owners included some products for a range of hair types & textures I'd love them forever. (Maybe a couple of DevaCurl options?) Alternately, it might be nice to have the option to buy a swim cap - a regular Speedo kind and bonus points if you sold one for larger/thick hair (unlikely, I know but a girl can dream...) Even if it isn't 100% at preventing wet hair, I know my and other demographic groups would appreciate the gesture.) At least today when I was there, there was no deodorant. The business is pretty new so I'm mostly mentioning so you know to check and as helpful feedback to them. I didn't check and unfortunately couldn't float because I hadn't allotted enough time, even though I had my products with me. I did get to experience the infrared sauna- my first experience with that. Very relaxing. The room was small and private with adjustable lighting and the photo is 100% accurate. There was soft soothing music in there and throughout the entire spa. The full leaf herbal jasmine and lemon tea as lovely as well. I just wish I hadn't tried to fit it in before a flight. This place is absolutely amazing the moment you enter the door the ambience looks so beautiful and relaxing it smells so good and it's extremely cleaned it makes you feel so safe that you want to spend a lot of time in there. I usually do flooding and I felt amazing after the first time. I slept so good after that and I felt so relax. I stand on my feet for a long time at work and flooding is been helping me with information it's pretty amazing how great it is for your body. Karolina happen to be there on the first time . I went for my first float session and Karolina was wonderful. The float chamber was very quiet and not claustrophobic at all. I opted not to use the lights or the music and the one hour experience was the most relaxed I have been in quite awhile. Soreness in my back from weight training yesterday is noticeably better. My husband and I came here and we did the introduction deal for new customers. We did the inferred sauna, float and cryotherapy. The sauna felt amazing and I loved the comfort of the sauna and room. The float was my favorite. The water was comfortable and the technology of the chambers were really nice. I don't think I've been so relaxed in my life. I had been really interested in trying cryotherapy which is how I found this place initially. I loved it and felt rejuvenated after the process. Ultimately I think the ambiance of this place and the owners make this such a pleasant and relaxing experience. So when I showed up for my appointment it was revealed that the nurse wasn't in, which was ok because I could still get in for the massage. Brand new experience for me. Mia took great care of me with the infrared sauna and Kate took care of my massage. Needless to say I feel like a million bucks! 10/10 would recommend! I visited today through ClassPass for my first ever float session, and I was totally blown away by the experience! I think I'm a floating convert!! I was expecting to be plunked into a claustrophobia-inducing coffin-like capsule in a tiny room akin to a tanning salon, but this experience was anything but. This is a luxury spa, though the prices are affordable. The space itself is so beautifully done. They've thought of everything to make your experience as zen as possible. Dark mood lighting, spacious private rooms, meditation music flowing throughout, and lots of small touches that make all the difference, like super soft white towels and robes, slippers, tea, high-end lotions and hair products, and even a Dyson hair dryer (AND diffuser for curlies like me!) The experience of floating itself was unlike anything I've ever felt before. I have a very hard time turning off my mind, and this was the first time I feel like I truly entered a deep meditative state. I thought an hour in there would be so boring and would feel like forever, but it went by so quick! The float tank is like a big, enclosed bathtub, with gentle starry lights on the ceiling, a light in the tub, and quiet music that you can choose to turn on or off. It's probably the closest we can get to feeling like we're back in the womb, and that's all we really want, right? 10 stars for Freeze & Float!!! read more

Lymphatic Drainage really worked for me. I went to Freeze & Float Spa for the first time with no expectations and could not believe the results. My eye bag was gone for almost a month, that's one of the major problems I've been dealing with for years. My massage therapist was Lana and she was amazing. The procedure was a little hurtful, but it was worth it. My facial swollenness was gone, the belly went down a little too. If you are experiencing swollenness and if some parts of your body getting puffy from certain food and hot weather, try lymphatic drainage. I'm now hooked to it :) read more

This is a delayed review. I went to Freeze and Float in June the day before a flight. I was lost for a bit when I walked into the upstairs lobby and didn't know where to go next, but the people inside directed me to where I could find the spa. Once downstairs, I was greeted kinder by Mladen. He was a great host and walked me through the ameneties and what to expect. He is also very knowledgeable about the float technology and can answer all your questions. The interior design was modern and minimalist, very clean and the perfect dim lighting to induce calm. I showered and prepped before getting into the float tank. One thing to note is that the float session starts almost immediately, which I did not realize. I lost about 10-15 minutes undressing/showering/folding my clothes, lol! So, be quick if you usually like to observe and take your time when in a new environment. The floating experience was different than anything I had experienced. I was nervous at first, but eventually fell into a theta state (half-awake, half asleep). The tank has the option to keep it dark, blue lighting or illuminate the ceiling with blue stars. Overall, I felt and looked more relaxed afterwards. One downside is that my hair did get fully soaked, as the neck float wasn't enough to keto it above water. I have African coily/curly hair that is prone to dryness from salt/chlorine etc. so if I had known, I might have brought a swim cap. Fortunately, I did bring some hair products with me, so if you have my hair type, bring a swim cap or a gentle cleanser and a deep conditioner (to leave in and then you can wash it out and style when you get home). Freeze and Float staff, there is a brand called Innersense Organics that makes products good for wavy, curly and kinky hair. Please consider stocking their Hydrating Cream Hairbath (it's a gentle shampoo), their Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner (good for straight and curly hair), and their Sweet Spirit Leave-in (leave-in for wavy/curly) hair. They also carry travel sizes and sample packs that you can put on the stand with the towels/q-tips. Please also consider carrying deodorant wipes. EO brand at Whole Foods and Thrive Market carries individual wrapped tea tree and lavender deodorant wipes. Overall, I did enjoy my experience and I will be back! read more

Aaand signature lymphatic treatment was even better!!! Gabby who welcomed me at first and took care of me during the entire time was very professional super nice and very thorough.
