Called Clear Choice because we had a hot water heater vent that was tilted over a bit. I didn't know if it was broken or would be a problem, so I called the company to check it out (and inspect our roof while they were over). Ruben came out and instead of pushing for us to replace the vent, he gave us the honest advice to just leave it and replace it in a couple of years when we re-plank our aging chimney siding. Then he noticed we had some old cables, from an unused Direct TV dish, hanging from our gutter. Without me asking, he volunteered to climb up on the roof and cut them down for us. This was not an easy job, and our roof isn't easily accessible. I was blown away. The cables are gone and I can rest easy that our roof is secure and not in need of any urgent repairs. Had a leak in garage ceiling and after getting various estimates and assessments of the cause I had clear choice checkout (without giving them information from previous inspections) cause of leak Gavin came out and inspected my roof and found it was a couple of cracked grout lines in the stonework where it meet the roof. That was a relief because some of the other estimates indicated in addition to the stonework; flashing needed replacing, removal of additional stones and adding weather barrier, new shingles in the surrounding area, etc. Gavin even gave me a price range I could expect to pay a contractor for the stonework. read more

In our case, extra bundles of shingles were needed. When it came time to pay them, the estimate number was what we paid. They get 1 star because they were very punctual and informative in showing up to give me the repair estimate. I scheduled the repair but they never showed up or called. I rescheduled. Our home has a 100 year standing seam metal roof. The first year everything was fine and then we had a huge thunderstorm with high winds and we noticed water dripping from our ceiling right in front of our stairwell! We called out another local roofing company that found the previous owners had had a roofing company "fix" the leak area with a ton of caulking! The roofing company tried several repairs and finally talked us into getting gutters on the back of our house. Even with the gutters, the ceiling dripped. At this point we told them we needed a second opinion. After several roofing companies were called including one no show company, one that told me they were so busy they couldn't come repair for at least three months, one that wanted to tear the entire lower roof off, and one that never even climbed on the roof! I saw the reviews on Clear Choice Roofing and we had their representative come look at the problem and give us a bid. He saw what we were dealing with and knew we were nervous about more delays and not fixing the problem. His bid was reasonable and suggested we needed to modify the roofing in the back corner of the lower roof due to the pitch. His crew came out and repaired the roof. However, we still had a small leak and Danielle and Michael came out with the crew and checked every inch of the roof with a water spray test until she found the source was not from the roof anymore, but a crack in the mortar between the stones! That same day they went to the hardware store and got the material to repair the crack and spray it with a sealant. We had paid Clear Choice for half of the cost of the repairs and they were patient to wait on the other half until we all knew the leak problem was finally fixed! We have had several rains and nothing is coming through the ceiling now! Thanks to Clear Choice we can repair the sheetrock and enjoy our home again! read more

I had made a few phones called to clear choice roofing office to take a look of my rental roof condition at first I didnt get return called from the worker that work on the sites because I need to ask them a few things that the lady in the office couldn't provide which is understandable. Finally, I received a called back from Gavin. I asked him to check if my roof need vent flashing because there was 2 bids from other license roof companies in writing that said I need vent flashing. He promised me that he would give me the answer back the next day. Sure thing! The next day he got back to me through a phone called and send me a couple pictures and explanation in writing why I would not need any vent flashing for my roof without no cost because nothing need to be repair. Fellow yelper! His honesty is really count here. I am in California but I do have several rentals in Austin so you can imagine that I really need yelper reviews to screen any company to do the work. Extremely disappointed with this company and I will tell you why. I advertised a roofing job on thumbtack. Clear choice responded to my ad in a timely manner which was good. I then replied to them of what I was needing done, I gave them the address, and I asked them to come out look at the property and message me a bid. I thoroughly explain to them in my message that I work nights and sleep during the day so I would be unable to meet with the representative. That's why asked them to look at the damage and send me a bid.After three days I received no reply from this company. So I sent them another message asking them why they did not reply to my last message. When they did reply to this, the first thing they said was they do not like to come out and give bids on jobs without the homeowner being present. They accuse me of possibly being a realtor who seem to do this a lot. My exception to this is that I explain to them that I work nights and sleep during the day that's why I could not meet with the representative. Then they go on to tell me that they sent most of the staff to Dallas to help with the storm victims and would not be able to assist me for months. That's all fine and good except no one bothered to message me or pick up a phone and call me because I did give them my phone number and explain this back to me. They just let me languish for three days trying to guess why they did not respond to my job request. They further stated they first responded to my job offer on a Friday stating they would be glad to come out and do the job now they said they did not know there was sending their crew to Dallas until the next day. You would think they would message me or call me and advise me of the problem with manpower now. Just blowing me off and not even bothering to let me know that their crew was going to Dallas shows me this is an unprofessional company that really don't care that much about their Intown clients Well Clear Choices reply clearly shows how unprofessional this person is. Accusing me of not caring about storm victims!!! My message clearly stated I had no problem with his crew going to help others. My whole point is no one bothers to spend 3 minutes to send me a message or pick up a phone and call saying we can't help you at this time and this is why That's it... Instead of me waiting 3 days not hearing a thing. They obviously want to make me out to be he bad guy here when all I did was offer them a job. He can't even admit they were wrong for not notifying me. My review was truthful and not vindictive. You worry about your livelihood, learn how to be more respectful to customers instead of ignoring them. read more

Clear Choice recently replaced the roof on our house caused by a hailstorm. A leak started within the first few months after installation. So, I called them and they came out and put caulking around the skylight without informing me about what the problem was. The leak came back a couple of weeks later so I called them again. The front office worker told me that the person who looked at the work said the problem was with the skylight, that it needed to be replaced and that this work was not covered under the original work that they had done so required a new bid. I told them that I didn't understand why because there was no problem with the skylight before they'd done the work and to please call me back. I called again and never heard back from them and had to get another contractor out to look at and repair the work. He said that that the contractor who had installed the roof did not replace the flashing around the skylight and that damage had also been done to the skylight and therefore needed to be replaced. By the time I was able to get it fixed, the leak had caused damage to the interior. Enough said... In response to Clear Choice owner Gavin's reply to this post that I declined to pay to fix the skylight, I call BS. Fortunately, most of my communication with Clear Choice over the original replacement of the roof happened over email, which i still have. There was never any mention of a problem with the skylight when Clear Choice first inspected the roof for damage and recommended repairs that were needed. I am happy to post or email the estimate for repairs that Clear Choice submitted to our insurance company if it will help Clear Choice recall the details. I should also add that, unless the consumer is a roofing expert, they have to rely on the roofing company to perform a thorough inspection of damages and recommend the repairs that are needed, which is then submitted to the insurance company. Clear Choice submitted their recommendations for repair directly to our insurance company. Unfortunately for me, I did not get a second opinion. My bad for relying on the them to perform a thorough inspection of repairs needed. So, the first mention of a problem with the skylight by Clear Choice occurred after I reported twice that the roof was leaking, over 8 months after the work had been completed. Since a year has passed since the hailstorm, I can no longer make a claim with our insurance company and I am out the cost of the repairs for the skylight and the damage to the interior. Second, how odd that Gavin said that flashing was not included in our repairs, only shingles because flashing was listed on the estimate submitted to and approved by the insurance company as well as on the final invoice. Since this is not rocket science, I must be stupid because I don't understand why something that is listed on the estimate and the final invoice is or should not not also be included in the installation. Third, I find it interesting that Gavin said that they planned to install a new skylight free of charge when they have never returned my phone calls until just today, after I posted this review. Lastly, I have only a handful reviews on Yelp and every single one of them but this one has been a rave review. I believe in writing good reviews to support good businesses who are committed to quality service and skill in their trade. I equally believe it is important to post critical reviews to inform other consumers, to give consumers a forum to be heard, and to hold businesses accountable as there are so few avenues for consumers these days to address their grievances. When they came they said I would be contacted again for the roof maintenance & some minor work on my roof. I actually had to call to make the appt but the came on time & did the work that was needed. Other companies wanted to replace my roof but CCR said I just needed minor work. My roof is good for 8 more years. read more

They have great review on Angie's List because if you give a good review, they give you 20% off! They did awful service. It took us forever to fix our roof. They did not even go to the roof to give us an estimate (they admitted this after we complained). Basically they have us an estimate of $2000, then when they saw the roof, they realized they did not need to do the all things they thought they needed to do...just needed to replace a cap which costs about $200. They had to order the cap, so it took several more days. Then they came and replace the cap in 30 min?! They still wanted to charge $2000. My husband complained on Angie's List as we could not reach them, and as soon as they saw his complain on line, they contacted us and told us that they will give $300 discount. They also asked him to update his review in order to get the discount. read more

Ultimately, Clear Choice Roofing got the job done and I'm happy with the final result, but it took significantly longer than expected and was a frustrating process overall. I needed a domed skylight replaced on my roof. Mike came out to my home, inspected it, took measurements, and gave me a good quote. He seemed very knowledgeable, and even offered me a discount when I later requested one. The first problems came on installation day, a couple weeks later, when the installers informed me that they had brought the wrong size flashing and would need to delay the job until later in the morning. They spent most of the day on my roof - sawing, cutting, hammering, etc. When it was completed hours later, I realized they installed a SMALLER skylight than my original one. It looked bad from the inside, and they also damaged the drywall around the inside while they were installing it. When I called into Clear Choice to explain this, they were understanding/apologetic and informed me that my original skylight was actually a custom size (50"x50"). Someone had made the decision to order a standard 48"x48" skylight and install it without my approval. This was very frustrating, as I had requested a replacement, not a downsizing. I then had to wait 3-4 more weeks for my "custom" skylight to be manufactured, during which time I was not given an ETA for the installation until a few days before and had to proactively call Clear Choice to get updates. Eventually, the installers showed up with the right sized skylight but the wrong size flashing (again) and had to return later that day to do the job, which they eventually did and did well. Clear Choice then worked with a painting/drywall company to come in and repair the damaged drywall at the top of my skylight shaft. After 7+ weeks, I finally had the correct skylight. Thankfully, it all got completed before we put our house on the market but only by a couple days. I had been hoping to get this repair out of the way early in the home selling process, but it honestly took a lot longer than I expected and stressed me out. read more

I first learned of Clear Choice on Angies list several years ago when I needed some skylights removed on my 20 yr old metal roof that were leaking. They removed the skylights and replaced the metal in those areas as well as finding a totally rusted out stove vent they replaced. There were also a number of screws that had become loose over 20 years of zero maintenance. The guys educated me on metal roofs and explained they do require some maintenance to keep them in good shape. Metal roofs use screws with rubber stoppers on them that wear over the years and cause leaks if not replaced. I found the cost most reasonable and felt good about the estimate and the guys who did such a good job on my roof. Fast forward to the recent freeze when a tree limb fell hard enough on the roof to cause damage and another leak! The owner Gavin came out to do the estimate and gave me a returning customer discount. Again they did a routine checkup on my roof for any more screws that may need replacing. I had a great young man rush to my house to beat the rain that was coming and had it repaired quickly. I highly recommend Clear Choice for any type of roofing you may need. read more

I recently noticed a water leak coming from my patio roof. I called clear choice on a Thursday to come over and provide an estimate. They come over promptly Saturday morning as scheduled. After Mike climbed on my roof and sprayed it for a while with hose so we could find the leak, he found that the new gutters I had installed, had a hole in them. So the leak on my patio wasn't from roof but from the gutters. Mike could have told me yep there's a leak and charged me for a fix that didn't need done, but he was honest and told me how to put a little caulk in the hole, and fix the issue. He also didn't charge me a penny to come over and spend 1/2 hour with me trying to find it. I will ABSOLUTELY use these guys, and only these guys in the future for ANY roofing need. I had a small roof repair because a tree fell on my neighbor's shed after a recent storm. For starters, a lot of roofers didn't seem to have insurance or had minimums on their project sizes or just didn't take small jobs. Several didn't return calls. Ace Roofing came out, but then told me that they didn't do jobs under $750, and that my job was not a $750. However, the gentleman said he would recommend someone else, who could do it much cheaper. That person just called me up and said he would do it for $425 solely on what his friend at Ace had told. So that sort of set a framework. Then a gentleman from Clear Choice came out, and he was extremely thorough looking at the damage and wrote me up a very specific quote that said exactly what materials they would replace. I told him I was still taking bids. Then I had a gentleman from Tex Roofing come out. He was very polite, but I didn't think he was as thorough and the bid did not reflect underlayment. Anyway, got a return call from Clear Choice and after a little negotiating, they gave me a very competitive bid. They also were able to schedule me in right away. This made the difference between the shed having roof during a very duckdrowner and not having one, so fitting me in right away was a real boon. They were a late the first day, but I think they more than made up for it by doing an excellent job. The roofer showed me that the roof didn't initially have underlayment, so maybe that is why the other roofing company had not included it in their bid. But frankly, I really wanted it done right since it was my neighbor's shed. Anyway, she was happy with the results, so I am happy (as it is her shed.) So I would recommend Clear Choice. Oh, also I went over to their office to pay because the roofer didn't feel comfortable taking the check. I could have mailed it in, but I don't trust sending large checks by mail if I don't have to. We were buying a house and wanted to have the roof looked at to be sure it was still in good shape and didn't need repairs. I found a Groupon for Clear Choice Roofing so I purchased it and then gave them a call to set something up. I won't say that my experience with them was without issues. There was an miscommunication between the office and the roofer on scheduling (the guy showed up a week before the scheduled appointment) and then when the roofer did try to complete the inspection he didn't have the proper tools to do the 2nd story. There was also some misinformation regarding whether or not there would be an extra charge for our house having a 2nd story (the roofer confused the Groupon we purchased with another coupon they had out). Even with these issues, I would hire this company again in the future for any roofing work we need completed. After all, it takes a lot for a company to admit their mistakes and apologize. read more

Had roof damage due to rough weather here in Central Texas. Attained three different quotes and while Clear Choice had the best rate, their upfront service was what sealed the deal for me. They answered my numerous questions as I researched my options, compared their quote to their competitors and chose the best product for my needs. Their delivery crews arrived as scheduled. The installation crews were amazing. They moved the patio furniture out of the way to prevent damage. They did a great job of preventing debris from getting into the pool and koi pond which was a big concern. Extremely hard workers!
