I have been to Memorial Medical Center for 4 years since moving to Las Cruces, 3 times to ER. In…read morethe past, I lived in large metropolitan areas with multiple medical facilities. Memorial is old, but in general the facility is well kept and the service is excellent. In December, I had a triple bypass surgery in Memorial. I first spent 5 days on the fourth floor prior my surgery. My surgeon was Dr. Vitaly Piluiko, who recently retired. Him and his team were outstanding. Dr. Piluiko, visited me in my room every day prior my surgery. After surgery, I spent a few days recovering in the intensive care unit. Even the anesthesiologist came to check on me the day after my surgery! Yes, the hospital is a bit tired, but the care I received was outstanding. My only observation is that the food service company lacks of employees who understand what vegan meals are and they need to have a proper selection of options for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. The service is at the same level of what I experienced in large hospitals in San Antonio and Dallas Texas.

I went to Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room on May 29th due to complications with my diabetes…read moreand insulin pump. I was seen by a Doctor Ponce de Leon. She asked me why I had come to the Emergency room. I explained the problem with my glucose level and the number of insulin pumps that I had gone through in 24 hours. The Doctor said she would be back. When the Doctor returned, she told me that there was nobody in the Emergency room who dealt with diabetes or insulin pumps. I asked what about the rest of the hospital, I was told that they have all gone home for the weekend. She said she was going to arrange for me to be discharged. I was upset, so I placed a call to the hospital administration, and was told that they would look into it. Shortly after the call, a Nurse Practitioner came to see me. She checked out my Insulin pump controller and went to make a phone call to my Diabetes Doctor, who's office was closed for the weekend. She eventually spoke to a Diabetes Doctor she knew. The Nurse Practitioner returned, telling me that my insulin pump was malfunctioning. I was told about the diet I should eat over the weekend, until I could get in contact with my Diabetes Doctor on Monday. I was eventually discharged from the hospital, without any help for the large swings in my glucose levels and no means to administer insulin. I should have been admitted over the weekend to get my glucose levels under control. Basically, the Emergency Room Dr. Ponce de Leon and the Nurse Practitioner left me in a very dangerous situation.

Wall near water fixture. Any one with a brain can assume this is a breeding ground for mold. In an emergency room!

I was called for rememinder to get there...get changed and left in the room a few min...normally they say come out when you're dressed to be told they cant perform mri of my brain because they dont have the machine. Mind you I had this same service provided 3 weeks ago. As someone with chronic illness and it took all my energy to get out of bed and drive 25 minutes. This is very unacceptable. The place was fully staffed and everyone just stood there clueless. As this is not my first rodeo with desert imaging. I do believe them to racial profiling. Something needs to be done!!!.

This place is horrible I had a 5:10pm appointment for an echocardiogram I arrived at 5 PM was…read moreinformed that the person that does the echocardiogram was not here yet and they had no idea when she was gonna arrive. I then realize that there was also people ahead of me that had an earlier appointment that had been waiting for nearly an hour already before I arrived and the person that does the echocardiogram had never arrived. We literally sat waiting until about 6:30 PM when finally the girl that does the echocardiogram finally arrived to make it worse me and another person were there for echocardiogram because of chemotherapy so we had to have them done a women walks in at 6:20 and checks her son in they give her the same story that the person that has the echocardiograms had not arrived yet and that it may be a little while the person tells them that her son is hyper. I then hear the lady at the counter whisper she will put him in front of everyone else that had already been waiting over two hours and that's exactly what they did once the girl finally arrived they let the women with the so called hyper son go first they had only been there 20 minutes in front of ppl that had been there for hours. I also heard the staff talking and apparently the girl that does the echocardiogram Does it quite often shows up late very often. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. People are here because they need things to have to wait two and three hours because someone doesn't come to work on time is insane money and co-pays were taken immediately and then we had to sit and wait for hours to be seen. This place I would absolutely NOT suggest it to anyone ever. Find someone new to do the echocardiograms please

I recently had my first appointment with Dr. DuRussel at El Paso Pain Center, east side location…read moreand I can't be more pleased. The staff were all wonderful and helpful. They were thorough and sincerely concerned about my pain. When meeting with Dr. DuRussel, he was extremely knowledgeable of pain management and very thoughtful of my quality of life. Again, I cannot express enough how pleased I am with the entire experience and I can say that I look forward to my upcoming appointment and new treatments which I hope improve my quality of life. If any staff are reading this review, I must say I am grateful for your support, kindness, and willingness to help with any concerns I had. If I do not mention the following, I would be remiss....... I must remark that before I went to my first appointment; I was very apprehensive, so I looked for reviews on this location and Dr. DuRussel. When looking through the comments, I took notice of numerous one star reviews regarding issues with wait times. I must say that I was taken aback because, if you are in as much pain as I and many others who need pain management are; then, for me, I would wait as long as I had to in order to get relief. In my experience, first appointments always take longer than others. Subsequent elongated wait times for appointments may simply be due to the fact that the doctors and nurses want to make sure that the patient receives excellent, thorough care. So, when you are being seen and the doctor takes his/her time in seeing you; it is funny how no one complains that providers were "too thorough" or "cared too much". Just something to ponder. I would recommend The Pain Center wholeheartedly. With sincerest thanks to Dr. DuRussel and all of the staff, W. Braswell
