I travel to Newport News from Virginia Beach because of the professionalism and cleanliness of this office. The office is VERY clean and well taken care of. Olivia provided sunglasses for me to wear during the treatment on my face, which I appreciated, and she emphasized that the lens were a bit blurry to see through because of the cleaning solution to sanitize them which is fine by me. Before my first treatment, she explained in the free 15 minute consultation what electrolysis is, how it works, before and after care, and asked if I had any questions. She also asked about medications during the consultation to make sure that nothing I'm taking would interfere with treatment or make my skin more sensitive. I love that she also didn't assume I was doing a treatment right after the consultation and didn't put any pressure on me to do a treatment immediately following the consultation, but I wanted to and she did an amazing job treating my face. I'm looking forward to continuing treatments with Olivia and will definitely recommend Simply Flawless Electrolysis to anyone who is interested in hair removal.

While I was saddened by the cancellation of my appointment, what troubled me was learning that it was said I had left "angry" and "did not wish to return." This characterization could not be further from the truth, and I was disheartened to know that no effort was made to hear my perspective. When I did not hear back from Lisa after the cancellation, I reached out by text to ask about arranging a make-up appointment. She immediately called me, and I was taken aback to learn that a brief interaction, less than ten seconds long, with someone in the same building had been misconstrued in a way that left me feeling unfairly judged and unjustly characterized. I was surprised to find myself dismissed as a client without discussion, and only after I made contact. Even when I expressed a small disappointment by saying, "I was really looking forward to this," it was not with anger or rudeness, but with the natural dismay one feels when expectations are unmet. What pains me most, however, is the sense that prejudgment and perhaps even unkind words have been spoken of me to others in the profession. Whether through assumption or deliberate misstatement, I believe this compromised not only my experience as a client, but also my ability to seek services elsewhere without undue bias. Confidentiality and fairness are cornerstones of professional trust, and I had hoped those principles would have been upheld. I now know for certain that this was the case here and at another business. At least with Vivian of Advanced Electrolysis. I say this because I want other clients to be aware of blackballing and to be mindful of connecting. After about a 30 minute wait, I was introduced to my stylist, Kim Curling. Kim asked several intake questions about my hair, my daily routine, and my preferences before starting. Typically, I'm hard pressed to find a stylist who doesn't cut my hair too short on the first try -- but Kim did an excellent job staying in my comfort window. She also was very helpful by introducing me to a new styling product that is amazingly low maintenance, helps maintain my curls, and doesn't make my hair stiff as a board! Overall, it was a good experience. In terms of my star rating -- I went with four because it was an expensive endeavor ($80+), and for that price, it didn't come with spa perks that I've come to expect at that price level (aromatherapy, skin/scalp treatments, complimentary tea/coffee, etc.). Now this is my first time having any kind of hair on my head that wasn't my own. So I dont know what to expect, so I am trusting the stylist. That was my first mistake. The style I asked for called for curly hair and she pulled out straight hair. So I asked and she assured me she would curl it to get the same look. My second mistake not leaving at that point. So I was quoted 3 hours, now it's 2am and she is "finished". Mind you, I have two bags of rods in my hair and no one wants me to have to spend 45 minutes under the dryer, so I am told to go home and complete the style myself. What. ....I have to get up at 6am. Let me remind you it's 2am and I am not even home yet. Needless to say it's now 3 am and I can't lay down because there are a million rods in my hair. So pissed off. I can't believe I paid for this, so I am asking the stylist questions. When did you last do crochet braids? A few months ago. Huh? I seriously think it was her first time. What a complete mess, I think she is still in hair school. So now I am questioning if she is a licensed stylist. I am beyond disappointed, this was my first and last time. I will update tomorrow with pictures and information after I reach out to management. Because words cannot express how I feel. Okay so it is 0845 and it took me 30 minutes to get all the rods out and the hair is still straight. WTH? I left a message for when they open. What a disaster. So here we are at 1230, my hair has been returned to it's normal status. Maureen was noticeably upset and apologize for what I endured. I was provided a full refund and the crochet braids were removed, my hair was washed and styled by Monika. Thank you Monika for coming in on your off day to rescue my tresses. I highly recommend the spa services, but I will pass on salon services.
