I told them my window was an Alpine window, but they still replaced it with a Milgard glass. It looks very different from the rest of my windows. My Alpine windows have a slight greenish tint, but their Milgard glass looks more like silver, like a mirror from the outside. I asked them if I'd be able to tell if the window was replaced and they said no, but it's very obvious. I'm totally disappointed because I told them I didn't care about cost I just wanted the window to match my other windows which are only a few years old. read more

A few months ago we purchased a condo in the Waikoloa area. The glass on the sliding door and master bedroom windows needed to be replaced as they were fogged. They charge a $95 to come look at the window. They allow you the option to measure the window yourself to avoid the trip fee. The woman who we spoke to was extremely rude when we inquired on the proper way to measure the glass as it's in a frame. She said someone would call us back. The next day we called and informed we had not heard from anyone. Again rude and my husband told her there was no reason to be rude and she hung up on him. We own a home in Miloli'i (an inconvenient hour or so away from Kona) that has 8' sliding glass doors (2) that needed screens. We're on and off island quite a bit but Clear Solutions kept in constant contact with us concerning our needs & the measuring and installation schedule of these screens. With the corona virus crisis resetting all of our schedules they were still able to fabricate and install (with proper distancing :) ) exactly on schedule. We recently built a house using Milgard windows and had some warranty-related issues. Within days Bob from Clear Solutions came out and quickly evaluated and noted all the issues. He's clearly very knowledgable about windows and screens, professional, and efficient. We've learned a lot. We asked about and ordered some higher-quality screen doors from Clear Solutions since they were clearly better than the Milgard ones. As the screens and the various parts to the warranty work have become available, we have always received a call from the administrator to set up an appointment. If rescheduling has been required, it has been done in a timely manner. Bob and/or his team have been prompt and done high quality, efficient, careful work and have been considerate of us in our home and COVID-safe. read more

I called to inquire about window replacements in my home in Waikoloa. A large job requiring 13 window replacements and possibly up to 15 units. I had sent in the "Contact Us" form earlier that morning but wanted to be proactive. The lady said they were very busy but as my job was not urgent I opted to wait on a response from the "boss". The next day I received an email stating "Thank you for your inquiry Gregory, Unfortunately, we are unable to do this type of work for technical reasons." No one ever came out and looked at the job and I am unsure why my windows have "technical reasons" and other people's do not. I was left feeling very put off as their "technical reasons" are not explained on their website and were not explained during my phone conversation. read more

After arriving to replace the faulty windows, clear solutions was unprepared to install the new ones and said they would have to come back With additional team members. the technician said the receptionist would call to reschedule. After a week of not hearing back I called to reschedule. Confirming with the receptionist Leah the appointment for 830a on the upcoming wednesday morning. At 830 the following Wednesday when no technician arrived I called to speak to Leah, the same receptionist and she said they would be there by 1030. At 1030 when no technician had arrived, I spoke to Leah and she claimed the appointment was not until the following Wednesday, then abruptly hung up on me. please take responsibility for your disorganized receptionist Leah And her lack of professionalism regarding her mistakes. read more

New screen doors are fabulous and new window hardware make my windows operate better than when they were first installed. Asked for an estimate to replace a bad piece of glass. Came out and measured and charged me $125. Then he didn't call back for about 5 months, even though I called several times. He then admitted he lost the measurements but gave me an estimate anyway. By then I had already hired someone else and he said he totally understood it was his fault. I have three very large windows, one of which was cracked throughout, probably hit by a bird. These were original windows from about 1990 and had been poorly installed. The owner arrived promptly for a bid that I had no objection to paying for; why should his time be given for free? He explained every option and ordered the glass. I was kept informed of the progress of this custom made glass, shipped in a crate from the mainland. He installed everything perfectly and did extra work to fix some design flaws in the original installation. The cost was far less than I had expected. I highly recommend Clear Solutions for any glass needs. Living in Hawaii I know how hard it is to find competent help and these people are the best. read more

Bob was contracted to replace 3 windows still under another window manufactures' warranty. The window measurements were done by another contractor and one of the three was incorrectly measured. Rather than have me wait 6 weeks for the replacement to be manufactured and sent from the mainland, Bob took the initiative and manufactured the window himself in his Kona shop and had it installed in less than a week. He called me when he said he would, arrived on time, worked efficiently and cleaned up his mess. Bob was awesome. Should I have any other window needs, he will be my first call. read more
