The physical facilities of Clearfork Academy are impressive, and the initial intake process was fast and well-organized. I LOVED THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK CARE OF ME AT THE BEGGINING However, our experience as a family has been deeply disappointing due to the lack of seriousness in the care and individual attention given to each teenager. MY SON COULD DIED!!!! INJURED BY OTHER EACH OTHERS AND NOBODY SEE ONLY THE FINAL RESULTS There is a clear lack of follow-up culture with parents, poor communication, and irresponsibility in allowing fights and conflicts between the youths, often justified by the amount of unsupervised idle time. My son was removed from the program by a probation officer, and we were left without any clarity, no reports, no therapeutic feedback -- just silence. This raises a serious question: Is this a business that collects payment only to return a more frustrated youth to society? When I visited the facility, no one could give me the success rate of their program. In my opinion, this is not an institution based on competencies or results, but rather a well-marketed operation lacking true therapeutic structure and accountability. WARNING! If call this place and ask for guidance about your sons drug problem- they don't follow HIPPA and will call CPS and file a report. This behavior is why so many families don't reach out for help. The fear of someone shaming them. Choosing, as a family, to find treatment for your son is a private decision. Noone should suffer for trying to do what is best for their family. These types of places give rehabilitation from addiction a bad name. read more

My son was there for a month from this past January through February. While he was there he ran away with other kids 3 times at night all night in the woods. They apparently stole cough syrup and a THC vape and Benadryl and stashed it around the campus when they returned after 7 hours. They only had 1 police officer searching for them. The staff didn't know they stashed these things around campus and my son and another boy took a bunch of Benadryl and overdosed. Thankfully they noticed when they found him unable to talk or lift his head and sent him and the other child to a local ER. The doctor at the ER said he could have died and was close to a coma. They said that place is not safe and he can not go back there. Apparently this is a recurring issue they are seeing with kids overdosing while at clearfork. They reported it and there's an investigation going on now. He stayed in the ER for 3 days until we could get him in an inpatient lock down facility. When he came in he had fever, high heart rate, and was unresponsive. He also tested positive for Covid. When I got there to see him he was filthy. He looked so bad. His clothes looked like they've never been washed, he had cuts that were dirty all over him, greasy hair, black feet, and dirt caked under all his nails. I know they are not fully responsible for what happened and my son made some bad choices but he was there for help and I expected more from them. I expected he would be safe. The nurses were great and some of the techs as well. But the communication with the therapist and even the lead clinical director was awful. I had been calling and emailing at least 3 times a week with no replies. And at the once a week zoom family sessions with his therapist I would mention my emails and he acted like he just didn't get it yet! He was restrained twice while there and I was only told about one. My son said he was scared because during the restraint his shirt was pulled up tight on his neck and he couldn't breath. I told the director this and she said it was all done correctly. My son said he was running away to hopefully get kicked out and go home because this place was not helping and only making things worse. His therapist and the lead director never even called to see how he was after he was sent to the hospital. I still haven't heard a word from them even after emailing them when he was discharged. I feel like he was just a dollar sign to them. No concern for his wellbeing or compassion. When I got his belongings back all his clothes were so dirty and smelled bad. I had to throw several ripped shirts away. All his socks had holes in them. They don't make them shower, do hygiene, or get their laundry done. Also in his belongings they gave me some other child's treatment plan! All there personal info was on it. That's a huge privacy violation. Please think twice before sending your child here. It is not safe and we are lucky my son is ok now and didn't die. read more

I am a former employee**** who left the company 4/25 after 10 months of working there as a bht. December of '24 our bht director and clinical director and the majority of therapists all left the company at once. Since then there has been a 95% turnover in staff upper management down to bhts. i only saw Austin davis on campus once and that was the first and only time I met him. I can wholeheartedly and honestly say Austin Davis is known throughout the industry as being all about the money. Each month it's "did we make 1 million." Also this was the third year in a row for upper management to have turned over. RED FLAG. The place had become more and more dangerous during my time working there. It was inadequate and inexperienced staff as the vast majority like 95% have worked there less than a year. In December '24 when staff began turning over he abruptly went down to 1 house instead of two immediately needing less bht staff so at Christmas time with no warning he cut all of our hours to less than half so many staff not only couldn't provide for Christmas but we're scared of being put on the street not being able to pay their bills. He doesn't care about staff or your kid. To him it's just an insurance policy he can bill. It would be a mistake to send your kid here. read more

I sent my son to Clearfork because he suffers from PTSD and they ensured he would receive a plethora of therapies. My son had just turned 14 yo and had tried alcohol and marijuana a handful of times to help cope with intrusive thoughts. Clearfork is a drug rehab. Not a mental health treatment facility. Period. They state they treat mental health with various modalities, but the notes state he received little therapeutic help, even when he was attacked by older boys at Clearfork. They state my son was passively suicidal and needed to be transferred to higher care, yet the website and intake ensures they treat passive suicidal ideation?? What Clearfork will do, is to bill your health insurance for a 45-60 day treatment period, when in actuality they discharged him after two beatings, in turn amplifying his symptoms from an already excruciating PTSD diagnosis. They did not help my son. They left him terrified and alone, wanting his mom. I am finishing my bachelors this semester in Psychology with a focus on trauma and adolescents. I also have a passion for justice and civil rights, especially for our children. This is not a safe place for kids suffering with mental health issues as their primary issue needing treatment. Clearfork has also retained $4200 paid to them for a 45-60 day intensive mental health program, when he spent less than 2 weeks there. Clearfork was not a safe place for my child. He was physically assaulted twice by the same two older boys. The second attack came after the director promised me he would be safe. He was not given any medication for sleep or anxiety. He was given nicotine without my knowledge or consent. He was transferred after the director called and said that the worker was "scared" and that my child was "suicidal." At the hospital, he was medicated the way he should have been at Clearfork for his anxiety and sleep and began to heal in a safe environment, albeit not the proper environment. Did I mention I was renting hotels and driving back and forth 10 hours trying to support both kids? My son BEGGED me to send him anywhere but Clearfork for continued care. The social worker at the hospital advised I listen to him. He preferred the mental hospital they pawned him off to after pocketing thousands of dollars they did not earn. The medical records have been altered the last couple days before he was discarded by Clearfork. The director nor therapist shared any mental health issues for the last several days he was in their care other than being triggered from being assaulted. I checked in daily and there were zero other issues reported. The notes checked passive suicidal also still has the "no" checked on thoughts of suicide, because it was overlooked when updating the notes four days after my son left Clearfork. I was told by Clearfork that they would refund me, if I took my review down. They sent me a contract but it is very open ended where they never actually have to release the payment. I am unsure where to begin in writing this review. If you are a parent researching and reading Clearfork Academy reviews for your son's future residential treatment, the following is information I wish I had known before putting our faith and money in this facility. During my son's residential care, a mental health diagnosis was never addressed, which I felt was an essential component to address the mental health aspect leading to drug abuse. Upon choosing Clearfork, the admission coordinator assured us mental health would be a focus of treatment. My son never once met with a psychiatrist. Additionally, the boys are not made to participate in the daily group or teamwork. The admission team will remain silent regarding the topic where the adolescent clients can choose whether or not to take their daily medications. At times, some will "cheek" their medications giving to other boys. While our son was at Clearfork, a large group of boys obtained Axe Body Spray, which is highly abusable by teenagers, to abuse by huffing. At a later time, I discovered this same body spray was brought in by a well known and liked employee to help another client with hygiene. Again, this incident, along with other incidents of abuse, caused us to lose confidence in our son's safety. Lastly, if you are an active duty or retired military member using Tricare for your medical insurance, please beware and run away from this facility. Clearfork will force you to pay entire treatment cost up front. The admission team explained the process as the billing department would file claims for us to get reimbursed what Tricare allowed. Tricare has paid Clearfork two claim amounts (one in August 2021) and the other in February 2022. Once I contacted the billing department regarding the reimbursement being paid to us, she informed me that she had contacted the accounting department to withhold a 10% filing fee from our refund. We were never informed of a fee, nor did we ever sign a legal document agreeing to a filing fee.It seemed like they were making up the rules as they went along. After nine months of the first payment made to Clearfork on our behalf, we still have not received any of our reimbursement. After endless calls and emails to billing department and the founder, Clearfork has neglected to reimburse OUR MONEY. read more

I was hopeful about this place because intake was amazing and empathetic and got my son in rapidly from out of state. After the first week communication almost all but stopped, and "family intensives" were greater priority than handling actual legal and medical appointments/needs. Once my son was there, his attorneys, for a a couple of legal issues, weren't able to reach him promptly before hearings, neither were caseworkers, both supremely important to his continuation of care, as well as court proceedings with time constraints. Rehab should be the easiest place in the world to reach someone. Because Gloria and other staff therapists etc didn't thoroughly review emails and rarely returned messages, it created more problems for my child and has delayed, if not completely ruined his continuation of care. There were times I'd put things in writing in an email just to be asked several days later, a question that was previously answered in an email. Additionally, there were family sessions made without communicating to me date and time until day of. Family therapist seemed lost in our unique family situation and wasn't at all useful, and I personally feel that separating a personal and family therapist was extremely counterproductive because none of these people communicate whatsoever, even if they say they do. There was a time they called me THREE DAYS after the fact that my son was exposed to allergens and had ZERO information about what he was exposed to which eventually ended up not even being one of his food allergies anyways. They disregarded safety guidelines that they originally said would take seriously and follow and he wouldn't have access to those things. Then they gave him access to things (internet) but they were secretive about it and tried to play it off innocent when confronted and he was engaging in negative behaviors on the internet while in their care. School had no idea about his restrictions/dangers/MH issues, until our meeting to develop an IEP. Therapy called once a week almost always at a time that I told them was not a good time due to my work schedule and if I tried to return the call, they are unable to receive voicemails, but I didn't find that until about a month in and even if I sent an email, they wouldn't return the call and I'd have to wait until week for an update. I had filled out intake paperwork prior to his arrival we drove 15 hours from out of state so they had it 24 hours before, and was sent the same paperwork 3-4 times after and called about it to fill it out. The head nurse was amazingly empathetic and kind and responsive. Aside from her everyone was a mess and in my opinion, they were not treating these boys at all just collecting a check and running a sober home for them. My son has severe mental health issues. There is no psychiatrist on site. On top of all that, they verbally expressed recommendations for my son to both the caseworker and myself. Both of us asked for those recommendations in writing. When the letter was received, it was completely opposite of what was spoken about to both of us, further delaying his continuation of care, and complicating/delaying court proceedings. Initially, Clearfork was an incredible resource for my family as we sought to enroll my son in their facility. Their assistance with the transfer process alleviated any stress or concerns I had, allowing me to fully focus on my son's wellbeing. The only hurdle we faced was the out of pocket maximum of $4,600, which we paid over 3 installment. Despite the promising start, my son was administratively discharged after just six weeks due to his unwillingness to participate in the program and his bad behavior. However, I was relieved to discover that my insurance covered $4,350 of the $4,600 payment I made to Clearfork. Unfortunately, Clearfork did not apply this amount towards our out of pocket maximum, and they refuse to reimburse me for the difference. Latoya informed me that I had signed a contract stating that no refunds would be issued in the event of an administrative discharge, regardless of insurance coverage. This place is one of the most catering, friendly, caring, and creative facilities out there. The grounds are massive and visually impressive along with its stunning views to keep your mind at ease. They pick very caring and smart staff members. The food is above what you would think. This place can change your child's life and give them the information and self-confidence to make wise choices and to pick themselves up when they fall. Clearfork was amazing for our son and family. We had many reservations about the whole process and decision to admit our son however the staff was there every step of the way. Very professional. Strong disciplined program. This is not a boot camp, brutal, beat down boarding school. This is a faith based treatment and recovery program designed for long term success. We had some tough days, many challenges but sticking to their program works. Thank you Ben Johnson our therapist, he was amazing. Where do I start.... from the phone call to try and get help to the day my son graduated the program there was nothing but great things to say. The staff there are amazing. They cared for my son like he was their own. They taught him so many life skills that he came home and actually used. After 2 1/2 years of never being able to get help God connected us to Clear Fork. There are no words that I could say to express my appreciation of this place and the staff. My son still has an ongoing relationship with some of them. On top of what they did for him the counseling they gave our family and the tools they taught us were great. It's hard to just send your child somewhere and leave them I know we were 5 hours from him but they took us through the journey completely helping us every step of the way. #clearforkfamilyforever read more
