It has taken me a few years to write this review due to the trauma suffered while there. The care is horrible. They lie telling you that you can use the phone when in-fact your phone is taken away and your only allowed to call for 15 min on Sunday and they listen to your conversation the whole time and if you say anything, they don't like they hang up the phone on you. They also call your family and lie to them. When you get mail, you don't get it until a week or so later, they hold onto that without giving it to you when it first gets there. They also put a lady in the middle of the circle of other ladies and be rate her and put her down until she's crying. One lady was not allowed to talk for days because something I'm not sure but supposedly she talked too much or something so they would not allow her to speak for days after that. I was in there because I was taking prescription medication's for pain for 20 years and I needed someplace to be able to get off of these medication's. I was very ill and they refused to take me to the hospital. I asked to leave they said if I left, they would not give him my phone and I couldn't call anybody. I would have to go to the they would take me and drive me to the outside gate of their property and I'd basically be out in the country on my own. Finally, I was able to go to the hospital and when I did go, I had inflammation around my heart and different other health issues because I have health problems also so at that point I was admitted to the medical hospital for a week then I checked out of Stonegate and didn't go back. My legs and feet were so swollen. I couldn't even walk. They also overcharged me for my initial payment that my husband had to pay that they said was my out-of-pocket when I got a hold of my insurance I really only had to pay a lot less than what they charged me, which I never got that money back. They lock you out of your rooms during meal times and you have to ask to go to the bathroom. They unlock the door for you to go to the bathroom and then lock it when you come out. You're also not allowed to sit on the furniture unless they're doing their nightly AA and na meeting. You also have to fill out papers at night to say what you've done wrong in different things like that. You can't say that you've done anything right so it's pretty much putting yourself down all the time I would advise against going here. It's a very unsafe for your health and for your mental physical and emotional and spiritual well-being maybe it's changed now, but it sure wasn't a few years ago. God led me there, and it became one of the most humbling and transformative experiences of my life. I was in a very dark place and googling drug rehabilitation when Austin called me. He was definitely a vessel for me! This is very much a God inspired place. I personally stayed 90 days instead of the typical 45 day. For the first time in my life I have hope and joy for my life. If you have a honest desire to change than there is no better place. I went to Stonegate for treatment and they have a very good program. Anyone who has anything negative to say about this facility does not truly want to recover. This place brought me out of a darkness I didn't think was possible and taught me skills that I use everyday since I've left. Treatment can be scary as well as healing. I was a client there for 30 days and this is an earnest review to give insight to what I experienced. In short, I dont regret going here for rehab, but would never suggest it to others. If you're able to consider Infinite Recovery near Austin I'd highly suggest their programming. I had my gripes towards them after a full continuum of treatment, but after Stonegate I realized they at least attempted to make me feel seen and cared for. Stonegate did not. Prejudice exists at Stonegate, though they would never admit it. To be clear majority of the fellowship, staff, and clinical counselor (Lillian- best therapist I've ever had) was amazing. The director of this facility, Will, is not. My premature exit from the program was a result of his biased and undue assessment of my "toxic behavior" on the community. The fish rots from the head - his attitude, his approach, his unsubstantiated inferences of clients- diminishes the integrity and values this place is advertised as upholding. I left feeling abandoned and discarded for alleged behavior this facility was supposed to help me with in the first place. I consider myself an agnostic, independent thinker steeped more in eastern spiritual philosophy than Christian, but I enjoyed this exposure to the Bible and made strides in putting aside my intolerance towards organized religion. In return, many of my fellow brothers expressed their gratitude towards my open heart and concerted efforts to understand their world view while staying firm in my own. Few things matter more to me than having genuine, heartfelt connection with others. I believe everyone deserves to express their feelings. I am a gay man. Being homosexual I was reared in a culture saying everything I thought about sex, gender and love was wrong. That I was wrong for existing. I had to look within to find my own truth instead of listening to authorities/parents. I recognize this trauma likely influenced my impulsive decision to exit feeling pressure to conform to the program. I wish these sentiments were taken into account before the decision was made that I should discharged because I exhibited "toxic behavior". I was accused of being vindictive and gaslighting. Only there to stir up trouble and controversy. Takeaways? I sought to be amidst people whose values were radically different from mine. I chose to champion human values true to me in the face of some very inhumane and unyielding persons. I put in the necessary 24-notice to leave out of ego and lack of humility, but upon reflection with brothers in the program I aimed to swallow pride and complete the program. Stonegate refused to allow me to do so, citing "staff consensus" that I poisoned the wellness of the community. I theorize it was a top-down decision from Will to dispose of me at a homeless shelter in Fort Worth, relying on kindness of strangers to travel 30 miles to the airport to return home to Houston. They previously assisted someone discharged early, whom many staff & clients considered injurious to the community and himself, by taking him to the greyhound bus station, but not I. We cannot avoid problems, becoming aloof and cold, not wanting to be bothered by other peoples hurts because we might get hurt ourselves, the problems will only get worse. I could have avoided this trauma altogether but I'd have closed myself off. I wouldn't have won any wisdom by avoiding risk. I'd never have learned to recognize the shadows in myself if I hadn't seen it projected outside. Will/Stonegate was kind of my shadow - in dealing with it I was dealing with a part of myself. In recognizing others faults I had to recognize my own. Take responsibility for my own tendency to be critical, to react out of fear. A rose bush can produce a perfect rose through correct pruning. Pruning may hurt the plant temporarily, but if the plant were able to understand the necessity, then it would welcome the gardener approaching with shears. I wish we (me, Will, SG) were all more receptive and empathic as Jesus was and urged we be. read more

This is a very secular place for a facility that claims they are "Christian." The staff swears like sailors and so do the patients. They seem to think that they can break people down by belittling and bullying them. Imagine a marine corp boot camp and you will get the picture of Stonegate. With that said, for a young guy who is a drug addict in his late teens or early 20's with no discipline, I might actually recommend this place. For an actual grown up man with a family and a business, I absolutely would recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Stonegate Center administered narcotics and other unwarranted drugs to my daughter and let her suffer dangerous side effects for 21 days before finally transporting her to a hospital. The hospital detoxed her from the drugs Stonegate administered to my daughter. For the suffering Stonegate caused my daughter Stonegate team showed no compassion and avoided claiming any responsibility. Not only did Stonegate Center refuse to pay for the 6 day hospital stay, they refused to return a dime of the 45 days we paid up front. To make matters worse, I was the one billed for the plethora of drugs administered to her. Stonegate never followed up after my daughter was dismissed from the hospital to check on her condition. read more

Having been to many 30 day inpatient rehab centers scattered around the country, most claiming to be "world renowned" - I simply could not understand why I was continuing to go back to drinking and using. I had all the understanding in the world on what addiction was, but the fact remained that I simply could not STAY STOPPED once I decided that I was done "for good and for all." Stonegate Center gave me the truth about who I was, and they presented me with the solution that worked and continues to work. my husband just left there because he was eaten alive by bed bugs! They called me and said they had to take him to the ER because he received a bug bite and had a slight reaction, however, ensured me that they are taking great care of him! He requested to leave after 5 days of bites all over his body and they walked him to the gate and refused him a phone call or his belongings. He walked 8 miles before getting picked up on Hwy 20 by some very great people and drove him to Arlington. Had he been hit and killed, he wouldn't of had any identification on him. They lied to me and said he took off complaining that they were not taking care of him. She told me that the Sheriff's dept was notified and will look be looking for him. She completely lied to me. They didn't give a shit about him, they just wanted our insurance money. read more

I see that my review was removed so I'll put it back on. DO NOT GO TO STONEGATE!!! It is a scam! They make so many promises to you in order to get you inside. The place is run like a boot camp in San Quintin. I was on the "team" responsible for the kitchen duty and usually got about 15 minutes to eat and then it was a rush to scrub pans and sweep the floors. The only good thing I will say about Stonegate is that the food is INCREDIBLY good. They have a true chef working there. I am sickened by the language used in the Bible Study. The F-bomb is fairly common. Also, if Stonegate is going to teach the Bible they should hire people who actually know something about the Bible. The "counselors" seem to have the greatest fun when they pit one inmate against another in "community". They force you to criticize each other even if you have to make something up. Everyone is forced to partake in this destructive, hateful exercise. The counselors are arrogant, overbearing, and very impressed with their amateurish, non-existent skills. I finally had to walk out on my third day. You see, the COMPUTER said I didn't need my blood pressure medication or depression medication. They said the doctor had made some changes but apparently fouled something up and cut out those medications completely. But I would be allowed to get it straightened out when the doctor arrived "sometime later this week". This is a 30, 45, or 90 day exercise in amateurism. They are getting rich and there are enough desperate people out there who will keep the money flowing. I went to another facility and have more than 7 months of sobriety. I just came back from a 5 day business trip by myself and never even thought about alcohol much less had the desire to drink. Please, hang in there my fellow alcoholics. Don't give up. I thought it was hopeless most of the 23 years I was drunk. I know some of you think it's still hopeless. Please, don't give up! No matter how impossible it seems. You CAN overcome this. I Randy R. Hinze on my own free will, admitted myself to the Stonegate Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse on 6/5/2019. On 6/10/2019 I noticed bites on my arm. They looked as though they were fire ant bites. On Tuesday 6/11/19 I was able to see the Doctor as he is only available on Tuesdays. I showed the bites as they were rapidly spreading. The Doctor diagnosed them as ant bites and took photos. He gave me a small packet of anti-itch cream to help with the itching. The next morning 6/12/2019 I returned to the nurse as the bites ere again spreading, she gave me another small packet of the anti-itch cream. Later that evening, I informed a RA who goes by the name of Martin that I was really concerned about the bites, he said that he would let a man by the name of Sanders about my condition and get back to me. That never happened. On 6/13/2019 I again returned to the nurse in the morning as the bites were now becoming un bearable. She gave me 3 more packages of the anti-itch cream, later she gave me some calamine said that she would call the Doctor and get back to me before she left. That never happened. When I did see Sanders he asked me if the cream helped and I said a little and he walked away laughing. On 6/13/2019 I requested to go to the ER and they gave me a steroid shot and prescribed some cream and 5 days' supply of steroids that I was supposed to start taking 1st thing in the morning. The nurse at I believe is Willow Wood hospital also took pictures. I did not receive the steroids until very late on 6/14/2019 and the lotion on 6/15/2019 that I never got to use. The bites were still getting worse. On the morning of 6/15/2019 I returned to the nurse named Kyle and he looked at my bites and said the were much worse than they were the day before. He cam and got me later that morning and I took him to my room (1) bunk 2. Kyle opened my sheets and found the bed bugs. Stonegate staff then assigned myself and 2 roommates to another room. All 5 days sleeping and getting bit by the bugs. At approximately 5:00 PM I informed the Stonegate Center Staff that I was going to exercise my rights under Clients Bill of Rights 448.701 that I wanted to be released within 4 hours. They allowed that but would not allow me to make a phone call for a ride and would not make a call for me. I had no money, identification or phone as I was not allowed to have those items at the Stonegate Center. The RA Martin said that I had to walk. RA's Colton and Martin walked me to the gate at 6:00 PM on 6/15/2019. I walked approximately 12 miles and on I20 East somebody finally picked me up and drove me to the Matlock exit in Arlington where I waked another 3 miles to get home. The attached pictures are of just some of the bites that I have suffered. They are on my legs as well. My wife took these on 6/16/2019 AM. I do have more photos available. I was told that my insurance would be billed and given a $ amount that would be the most out of pocket. But what transpired was insurance was never properly billed and given every excuse under the sun. Just to get the cash $'s. All medical codes are wrong and refuses to give us the correct diagnosis so we can file on our own what we have paid. Still waiting to hear from Robert and won't send it- very suspicious to say the least. Did everything and payments from our side and as the other review said has never asked about the client or contact us when he left. Never again here only because Robert doesn't keep his word 4 months and still asking for correct receipts. read more

At the beginning of this year (2013) my life was saved. With the help of my wife and both of our families we found Stonegate. During and after my 90 days at Stonegate I have been becoming a new man. Actually, I have been becoming the man God intended for me to be. With the help and full support of every staff member at Stonegate I can walk confidently in who I am in Christ without the fear of my addiction having control over my body, mind and spirit. What The Lord has provided through Stonegate and what The Lord is doing through the lives of dedicated, caring and loving counselors is beyond admiral. My sister and I sent one of our really close family members to Stonegate Center during an awful and traumatic period in our lives, and they saved his life. Our friend, who I'll call "Sean" in order for him to remain anonymous, was really high up in the company he worked for, but was doing a ton of different drugs he used as "escapes" (he would call them) and almost lost his job and his wife. Like, he told his wife that he was doing coke in the office bathroom during the day and would then steal her Vicodin she got from her doctor after her ACL surgery in order to sleep. And then he would go drink a lot on the weekend at really fancy restaurants to impress business people since he was in sales. "Sean" was a really good guy but was almost drowning in this lifestyle and work stress that he practically became a different guy. It was really really scary. But somehow we found out about Stonegate from a friend and they had a bed available so he was accepted! Anyways... these guys were super nice to us and helped him work through a lot of stuff. Always more than helpful and understanding, really gave us some peace of mind knowing they were so close to God, knowing this would help with his faith and now he's recovered his marriage and relationship with his children.
