There were definitely some growing pains throughout the transition, but one thing that never changed was the care and compassion shown by the regular staff. As my mother's health declined, she spent time at a local hospital. While there, I was told that patients coming from Willow Park were typically in better condition and better cared for than patients from other neighboring facilities. That comment stayed with me. I won't say this facility is perfect. Honestly, the thought of needing to live in any type of care facility someday terrifies me. But unfortunately, there came a point when my mother needed a level of care that I simply could not provide on my own. My mother ultimately passed away, but the care and compassion I witnessed from the staff during her time there is something I will never forget. They knew her. They cared about her. They helped her through an incredibly difficult phase of her life and they helped me through one of the most difficult phases of mine. While I was not always impressed with the agency staff who occasionally worked at the facility, I am incredibly grateful for the management, nurses, aides, laundry staff, kitchen staff, and the many regular employees who cared for my mother. In her final days, I witnessed firsthand just how deeply some of them cared for her. Their compassion was genuine, and it meant more to me than I can adequately put into words. My mother was able to receive care that I was not able to provide myself, and I will always be grateful to the people who cared for her, comforted her, and treated her as someone they truly knew--not simply as a resident.

The problem came once insurance ran out. Nathan the social services director acts like this is his first week on the job. He's the one in charge of setting up home health doctors appointments ordering walkers etc... The doctors appointments weren't set up correctly so there for we are unable to receive home health or PT. Nathan didn't order a walker only ordered an arm attachment for the walker. When questioned he said he didn't know he needed to order them separately. It's been a week since the walker and arm attachment were ordered and we still haven't received the items. When we ask for assistance Nathan just says this isn't his fault and gives us a tracking number. Azle manor needs to consider the companies it's using and referring out. The companies they refer out to call center's are in another country and nobody is interested in helping. I called and spoke with Chris Porter and he said this was unacceptable and he would get us some help. Absolutely nothing happened because he told Nathan to call us and the only thing Nathan did was keep saying this isn't his fault. If it's not Nathan's fault than whose fault is it because he's the one who's in charge of setting all this up. What Azle Manor needs to work on is customer service taking charge fixing the problem that they created.

If I could give negative 10 stars, I would. I wouldn't even take my pet mouse here. I am writing…read morethis while my husband is STILL in this place. The only reason my husband ended up here is because he drove himself to the ER. After emergency surgery, he was discharged in less than 24 hours. Within FIVE hours of being home, we were back in the ER due to excruciating pain. It was then discovered he needed ANOTHER surgery. That surgery was supposed to happen the next morning but didn't occur until the following afternoon. The pain medication he was given only helped for about one hour, yet he was only allowed medication every four hours. For THREE HOURS at a time, he was left in agony. No adjustments were made to his medication, and he suffered unnecessarily for HOURS. After surgery, the nursing care was absolutely unacceptable. Out of maybe ten nurses, only two treated him with any compassion. One nurse, Karen (but of course), was extremely RUDE and late administering his pain medication. My husband had to call in the head RN because of this. He felt like he was being treated as if he were a drug seeker rather than a post-op patient in severe pain. Two nurses later apologized and even admitted, "Some nurses around here are like that." When the issue was escalated, Karen claimed she "miscalculated" the time, and the response from the Charge Nurse was, "This is why we'll put the schedule on the board so you can catch it." Excuse me?? That is not the patient's job! Karen also told him "I was busy with other patients"...which is comical as I walked the halls and there were more vacant rooms than occupied rooms. (THANK GOD). The room was never properly cleaned. My husband had to repeatedly move a trash can full of vomit to the door. I personally cleaned the room multiple times. Empty medication bottles and needle caps were left lying around. I had an in-person interaction with Megan, a nurse - she did not like what I had to say, the questions I was asking...And when I left, she never returned to my husband's room, even when he called for her. She waited for the shift change to handle him. This was his fear when I told him I was going to ask why he had not had a x-ray the doctor said he would have done - if you question them, they will retaliate, one way or another. I had to start communicating directly with the doctor, via his personal cell because the nurses were NOT communicating to him (per the doctor). Several things I told him his response was "This is the first time I am hearing of this". I had to inform him that my husband was vomiting--something that was extremely dangerous given the type of surgery he had. Side note: They put a 16 gage IV in my husband. The nurse said "Why did he do that...He does that a lot and I do not understand why" - Ummmm......what? I attempted to contact the hospital advocate SEVERAL times and have yet to hear back from anyone. This place feels unreal--like a torture facility pulled straight from a movie, not a place meant to help people heal. If you are dying, keep driving. This is NOT the place to receive care. If you are into pain and suffering, I HIGHLY recommend it! The only reason this hospital is still open is because no one is listening to what is actually happening inside. I will NOT let this go...The pain and suffering he has endured is unacceptable and I do not want anyone to have to go through this. I do want to say, there are a few nurses and one gentleman who works there that were kind to my husband - I am not sure why they work there, maybe it is there only option, not sure. If you HAVE to go here - document EVERYTHING! Do not let the person be alone...I wasn't able to be there as much as I needed and wanted to be due to having a toddler.

They cared for my love one unconditionally and truly impacted our family during our time of need…read more My loved one qualified for services due to her CHF and she was given a bad report coming out of the hospital: the Dr basically said she would not make it through the weekend. We brought her home that weekend and the loving and caring staff not only got her comfortable but more importantly, she had a series of falls the last few months before this hospital visit, so she had not walked for almost 8 months. She was started on some muscle strengthening exercises, given some tender love and care, and not only did she make it through the weekend, but she walked about a month later for the first time in a long time, and lived almost 7 months after receiving such initial devastating news. We collectively know that it was Accord Palliative and Hospice Care that went above and beyond for our family. Thank you guys so much for caring for us in our time of need. -Davis Family
