I was in Lake County for work and happened to stop by Walmart to pick up some worms so I could do a little fishing after the workday was over. Unfortunately, when I got to the water, I discovered every worm in the container was dead. Luckily, Clearlake Bait & Tackle was less than a block away. What a great find! The store was clean, organized, and packed with everything an angler could need to chase their next personal best. The gentleman working there was friendly and helpful. He got me set up with a fresh tub of nightcrawlers, and I was back on the road in no time. Thanks to those lively nightcrawlers, I caught a fish within 10 minutes of getting my line in the water. So I went in Clearlake Bait and Tackle today to buy a new swim bait rod. Over the years I've spent thousands of dollars there but haven't been in there for the last year. When I first walked in the owner immediately told me how I had to wear my mask. I didn't say anything because it's his store whatever but then another customer walked in and they started having a conversation about people who don't want to wear masks. They had choice words for those that won't "do as their told". It devolved into the usual "take your business to covid mart" "trumptard" blah blah blah conversation. Needless to say I left with nothing and will never shop there again. There are plenty of other Tackle shops that won't talk shit about more than half of their customers. It's time to stand up against these businesses that have no problem bashing customers with different views. I hope they all go out of business. I would never treat my customers like this. They do have a good selection and might be for some people. read more

On vacation in Clearlake, and after buying bait at Wally World that had 2 night crawlers in it, instead of 18 as advertised, decided to try a real tackle shop. Found this one on Yelp, went in and asked the guy what fish were predominate in Clearlake ( Bass & Catfish) got some fresh worms and some Mackerel. In and out in five minutes, great shop!! read more

I have now been here twice and the service is 5/5. They had everything we needed to make our fishing trip a success. There are other places around the lake and it is worth the drive to come here. Things can be on the more expensive side, but there aren't many options that carry the quality they do. If you are planning to fish the lake stop in here for a report and some local knowledge. read more

Stopped in there Monday March 4th on kayak fishing trip. Lost my landing net on last trip and found one there! Perfect fit for yak and even got to use on a 10 lb catfish and others but big ugly was the highlight. Nice folks in there and being right next to ramp is perfect. read more

Let me start out with the obvious aspect the tackle I walked in and almost peed my self jimmy has baits I've only seen online its crazy if you fish swimbaits or fish for bass period for that matter this place is a must go the selection is amazing the prices are fair plus you don't have to pay for the shipping for the stuff you'd usually have to order online that would probably be sold out anyways. So the tackle selection is great. I was fortunate enough to talk to Jimmy about the store and him giving me advice on fishing. Jimmy has got to be the coolest person I've met at any tackle shop, very helpful and puts so much work into his shop and holy cow does it show. He orders all his baits in advance so there not sold out when people need them! I went there yesterday and have been ranting and raving about it ever since! If more people ran there tackle shop like this every one fishing would be better off. My family has a place in clear lake and when I'm up here it is official this is the only tackle store I will visit I wish he had a store in the Bay Area. 5 stars easy. My husband says, "What a great find!" He was fishing at Clear Lake and at the end of the day, went to buy minnows. All the closest bait shops were either out of minnows or closed. By the time he contacted Clearlake Bait & Tackle, it was late in the day. When my husband said he couldn't get to the shop before closing time, the owner said, "Don't worry. I'll wait for you." True to his word, the owner was still waiting after his closing hours. My husband was pleasantly surprised with the amount of tackle the shop has. "If he doesn't have it on hand, you must not need it!" The minnows the bait shop has are large and very lively. I actually handed him $20 too much and he gave it back to me. Then, I forgot part of my purchase and he brought it out to me in the car. I was burnt out from running around trying to find minnows! The owner and his wife are so friendly and helpful - and knowledgeable about fishing Clear Lake. After our long day, they even suggested a route back to camp that was a more pleasant drive. First-class tackle, first-class minnows, first-class service! This is a great shop. Definitely will be back! read more
