I could not find available appointments until months out and quotes for the surgery were anywhere between 4000 and 6000k, not including, x-rays, meds, and followup visits. I called VCA for the surgery even though it meant I would have to drive 2.5 hours from Syracuse for the appointments and surgery. Dr. Anderson was spot on. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Went over everything with me before the first appointment. Talked about payment and what was included (everything) and the very specific requirements for recovery and limitations. Surgery went well, I was updated and given x-rays with before and after the operation. The vet was in constant contact either by email or texts - sometimes calls. Every visit was scheduled with our travel distance in mind and our time was completely respected; we never had to wait and were often taken early. Dr Anderson is a pro at these surgeries and his knowledge and experience were apparent. He put my mind at ease and helped us navigate a very big surgery. The recovery and care for a dog after CCL surgery is extensive and time consuming, but it was SO SO worth it. My Tillie girl was unable to run and play and was in constant pain. To see her running, wrestling and playing with her dog friends made it all worth it. Thank you Dr. Anderson and everyone at VCA at Ballston Spa - from Tillie Amyot and her family!

The vet that was available for an urgent visit for a hot spot was unhelpful and rushed, and left me with more questions and answers. Georgia was the sweetest dog: gentle, loving, and truly part of our family for 15 wonderful years. Like many older dogs, she was very much a creature of habit and happiest at home with the people she loved. When I came home from work one day last week, Georgia suddenly could not move and was clearly suffering. We were devastated. I immediately called our regular veterinarian, where Georgia had been a patient since she was a puppy, but they were fully booked and unable to see her that day. I then called Upstate AMC. Although they were also extremely busy and booked up, the veterinarian (Dr. Tamas) heard our situation, felt compassion for Georgia, and made the decision to see her anyway. That kindness meant more to our family than we can adequately express. Upstate AMC treated Georgia with dignity, gentleness, and compassion during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Because of them, Georgia is no longer suffering, and we were able to say goodbye peacefully knowing she was being cared for by people who truly cared. Needless to say, we will be switching to Upstate AMC moving forward. We cannot thank them enough for the empathy, humanity, and compassion they showed our sweet girl when she needed it most.

I have had nothing but great experiences with them, even including the saddest part of having a dog, putting my Ella to sleep. All the doctors that work there are wonderful and thoughtful. Recently my favorite doctor bought the practice and I see it's even better now due to Dr. David Tamas. Recently they have brought in a pet nutritionist, Dr Sierra Bouchard. One of my dogs has had chronic diarrhea for some time no mater what I fed her! I worked with Dr Bouchard extensively. She took all the information from her blood work and came up with a home cooked food recipe which cured her within a week. During that time I was in with the doc via phone and email with any questions I had. She always responded to my calls and emails right away. She even checked in with me while I was away for a month. An extra bonis of the practice is that Dr. Tamas furthered his training and can now perform acupuncture and use other holistic methods. As far as I am concerned. , this is the only practice I would ever go to .

Dr. Ryan is the most incompetent veterinarian in Saratoga Springs…read more Last August our then 13 year old chow mix rescue started having severe urinary issues. She needed to go outside constantly. We had to leave our back door open at night so that I could sleep a few hours. This issue continued. I brought Sarah in to be seen at least once a month with the same symptoms never getting better. I expressed how worried that I was that she had a bladder tumor. I took videos of our girl pushing blankets and toy's between her legs. The video clearly showed how uncomfortable that she was. Her urinalysis always came back showing infection. Big red flag. Dr. Ryan said since there was no blood in her urine it was not cancer. Never once did she recommend an ultrasound or even an x ray. After 3 or 4 times seeing a vet for the same symptoms, especially when they were getting worse, a competent veterinarian would have suggested an ultrasound of some kind of imaging. I finally called her office and said that " she needs an ultrasound ". One week later we had an appointment for an ultrasound. The radiologist took Sarah back for the 20 minute exam. Five minutes later Sarah was back in the exam room. The radiologist was right behind her. He gave us the devastating news that my special girl had a large tumor in her bladder, it was inoperable, and it was pushing on her urethra making it very difficult to empty her bladder. Imagine going for more than 7 months with that kind of pressure on your bladder. Anyone that's ever had a bladder infection knows how painful and uncomfortable it is. We started treatment a few days later but it was too late. On April 15 2023 we had to rush our girl to UVS in Latham. She was very uncomfortable, had stopped eating, and was drooling. She died in my arms that morning. I am completely devastated over losing her in such a brutal way. Our girl suffered. There's no doubt about it. Two weeks later Dr. Ryan sent my husband and I an email titled " termination of professional services". She accused us of posting phony emails and social media reviews to her accounts. I haven't had FB since April 2020. I had every intention of going to a bigger and better practice after she failed to diagnose Sarah's cancer. She dismissed everything and every detail I talked to her about. Her exact words " let's not go searching for something we don't want to find". My Sarah's bladder could have ruptured had I not stepped in. Spring Family Vet is not a hospital. It's a clinic. The only reason she terminated us as clients is because I made an absolute fool of her. We followed our veterinarian Dr. Amy Bergin here from another practice. I should have considered it a big red flag when Dr. Bergin left this practice in less than a year of being there. Dr. Bergin would have immediately suggested an ultrasound for our Sarah had she still been there when these symptoms started. I knew my sweet girl had something very serious going on. Please advocate for your animal companion. Trust your gut. We have filed a complaint with the NYS Department of education for professional misconduct against Dr. Ryan. No other animal companion or their human should ever have to suffer from her incompetence. She is not a strong enough veterinarian to have her own practice. She pushes this ridiculous " fear free " baloney! Let's face it ! A veterinary clinic could be built out of steak bones and most dogs will be very scared and stressed when they come in. She should be working under the supervision of a much stronger vet. This is the most devastating loss I've ever experienced with one of my beloved dogs. Gina Burns

Everything I am stating in this review is based strictly on my personal experience, verifiable facts, and my recent traumatizing trip to an emergency vet hospital with my dog. This was actually a second opinion for us. I had previously taken my dog to Banfield, where they immediately wanted to do surgery and essentially cut her open in the back. I brought her to Adirondack to look at her left back leg, but they wanted to focus on removing her masses first. During an earlier visit for a rabies vaccine, they had also found yeast in her ear. Yet, when I returned two weeks later to have it checked, the other doctor on duty had absolutely no idea about the ear issue, but blindly added even more medication to her ears anyway. They also completely ignored the fact that my dog could not swallow a pill, and a pill is exactly what they prescribed for her pain relief. My Yorkie is 12 years old. We had a biopsy done on a couple of masses, and the results thankfully came back negative. However, this facility made a very strong impression on me that having these masses removed immediately was extremely important, along with having my senior dog spayed. We trusted them and scheduled the surgery for a Tuesday. I dropped my dog off in the morning between 8:15 and 8:30 AM, and they had me pick her up at 4:30 PM that very same day. For a 12-year-old dog undergoing multiple major surgical procedures at once, they did not even keep her for overnight observation. By Tuesday evening, my dog was not doing well and was slowly declining. I was told this was normal for a dog recovering from major surgery. Communication from this clinic was practically nonexistent. When I did finally speak to an employee named Christian, he completely failed to call me back the first time he said he would. The second time we spoke, he entirely dismissed my concerns about my dog shivering and shaking. By Friday night, my family was not sleeping. My dog just laid there in her bed--not moving, not eating, not peeing, not doing anything. On Saturday, we had to rush her to the emergency room. The emergency room vet team acted quickly on their feet, stabilized my Yorkie, and literally saved her life. They explained to me that my dog's insides, her internal organs--I believe they specifically said her intestines--were seeping out because she had not been sutured correctly during her initial surgery at Adirondack. She had to undergo a second, emergency surgery that Saturday just to correct their mistakes, and we were finally able to bring her home Sunday. When my husband went into Adirondack to speak directly to the doctor to find out what happened, the doctor completely redirected the conversation and actively avoided answering every single question my husband asked. To contrast Adirondack's excuses about "normal post-major-surgery behavior": today is Thursday, and my dog has had absolutely no pain reliever today whatsoever. She only had pain relievers on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. She shook a tiny bit the first day we brought her home and half of the following day, and that was it. She is healing beautifully now after a massive, life-saving corrective surgery, proving that her agonizing decline after her first surgery at Adirondack was not normal. Based on my experiences, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. In my opinion, the only person at this entire facility who is competent in their position is a receptionist named Sarah. I sent emails demanding that all of my dog's records be sent to her new veterinarian office, which we locked in the exact day we were standing in the emergency room. I should have gone with my gut from the beginning. In my opinion, every single time I walked into Adirondack Vet, there was an emergency, or someone was tragically saying goodbye to their pet. I watched pets walk in healthy with their owners, and those owners left the building alone without them. In my opinion, this place should be shut down. This is my personal experience, reflection, and opinion, and I am sharing it so other pet parents can make an informed choice. I am just incredibly grateful the emergency team saved my baby.
