A half an hour after getting home he collapsed, I rushed him back and only then would she listen. She refused to let me stay with him and when I said I'll take him somewhere else she told me he would die in transit. ​ Left me absolutely no options. She put him in a oxygen crate and left him there to die by himself surrounded by strangers. It was a blood clot she made it worse by giving him fluids, if she had listened to me when I first brought him in and treated him for a blood clot he most likely would have survived. She was not only Unapologetic but flat out pompous when I was crying and said I was heartbroken because I wasn't with him her response was "he wouldn't have even known you were there" it took everything I had in me to control myself.

Keith Clements. He's the guy who (back in the day) came to our house to euthanize two of our cats. He was/is sensitive and caring. These days this can't still happen and I understand. The new expansion looks wonderful. But here's a thing...with all the modernization and extra services, there no longer is any kind of after hours emergency service. I 've been told why and I kind of get it. Vets are busy, have families and need time off. Yup. But. My vote still goes with finding some way to offer emergency services. Going to the emergency clinic in Latham does not do the job. Been there, done that. But when we needed an emergency euthanasia years ago, and could get help from a Burnt Hills doctor it was so much better than trusting strangers. Does everything have to go away for a better "business model" ? I was told that there would be a separate waiting area for felines, but there is not and the reason is that there were architectural issues making that happen. It would not take much to still make this happen. And yes, I know there are practices in place to try to minimize the stress on waiting felines and others. Great, but still. It's more a matter of remaining human, humane and caring along with modern business. I will certainly be staying with this practice as I still consider it very good. But there is a little crack in the foundation of my confidence. Time will tell.

Today, we had to take one of the chi's in because she has stopped eating (except for baked chicken breast) and she's throwing up (sometimes) with bad bowels. We've been worried sick; changing up her food to interest her, etc. Yet, her attitude and behavior is still happy, alert and sweet. Dr. Kevin checked her out and agrees; she's okay. Gave us some meds for diarrhea (flagyl-which I love!) and something to try to stop the vomiting (which is pretty random). We had a VERY nice meeting with him and are so relieved. But, mostly happy to have finally met him! We've been "patients" of GFAH since 1975 so it's nice to feel a confidence and familiarity with our Vet. Thank you, Dr. Kevin!

Georgia was the sweetest dog: gentle, loving, and truly part of our family for 15 wonderful years. Like many older dogs, she was very much a creature of habit and happiest at home with the people she loved. When I came home from work one day last week, Georgia suddenly could not move and was clearly suffering. We were devastated. I immediately called our regular veterinarian, where Georgia had been a patient since she was a puppy, but they were fully booked and unable to see her that day. I then called Upstate AMC. Although they were also extremely busy and booked up, the veterinarian (Dr. Tamas) heard our situation, felt compassion for Georgia, and made the decision to see her anyway. That kindness meant more to our family than we can adequately express. Upstate AMC treated Georgia with dignity, gentleness, and compassion during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Because of them, Georgia is no longer suffering, and we were able to say goodbye peacefully knowing she was being cared for by people who truly cared. Needless to say, we will be switching to Upstate AMC moving forward. We cannot thank them enough for the empathy, humanity, and compassion they showed our sweet girl when she needed it most.

I have had nothing but great experiences with them, even including the saddest part of having a dog, putting my Ella to sleep. All the doctors that work there are wonderful and thoughtful. Recently my favorite doctor bought the practice and I see it's even better now due to Dr. David Tamas. Recently they have brought in a pet nutritionist, Dr Sierra Bouchard. One of my dogs has had chronic diarrhea for some time no mater what I fed her! I worked with Dr Bouchard extensively. She took all the information from her blood work and came up with a home cooked food recipe which cured her within a week. During that time I was in with the doc via phone and email with any questions I had. She always responded to my calls and emails right away. She even checked in with me while I was away for a month. An extra bonis of the practice is that Dr. Tamas furthered his training and can now perform acupuncture and use other holistic methods. As far as I am concerned. , this is the only practice I would ever go to .

Dr. Beck said he could take care of her as soon as he was done with another appointment, or that we could go to the emergency vet in Latham, but said we may have to wait there as well [not to mention the time driving there]. The poor little dog had seven lacerations, and was bit through the ear. It was a miracle from God that she did not bleed much, or die. Dr. Beck kept her overnight in their hospital, and we were not charged much , considering the seriousness of the injuries and the hospital stay. His staff was helpful in the follow-up, as well, we brought her in twice with concerns about her staples, and when she had a seizure. Both times, the Dr was not in, but the staff was very helpful. This happened almost 2 years ago, and the dog is doing well.
