This company is more interested in their sales commissions than actually setting up quality systems and services in a timely manner. They sell overpriced equipment they barely know how to configure when the exact same equipment is available for fractions of the price, and needs minor configurations. Our two week scheduled install is on its 8th week. They didn't order the proper parts, their installers/programmers come on site and leave as they please without communicating with our team. The parts they did order are not actually compatible. They forced us to purchase expensive accessories for controlling TV that they've then been unable to configure. I work at the Utah State prison, where TV Specialist have done a bunch of work for the State. I have to say, these installers that have been here have to be the worst that I have seen. Wiring draped all over, 120v plus that looks like Clark Griswolds christmas plug menagerie. They managed to put their control equipment wherever they could set it, I'm pretty sure if a chair would have been handy that is where it would have been left to reside. Not impressed with the quality of craftmanship or best said lack of that the installers that showed up here. As for the rest of the company I can not comment the installation crews that I have seen hear are terrible! read more

The best group of specialists ever. I've read some of the negative reviews and am surprised by their unfortunate situations. In the almost 10 years working with them I've had nothing but incredible service and customer support for everything I've purchased and rented. From rentals to purchase they have answered questions, resolved "user" error issues and recommended the best equipment needed for my videography needs. These guys know their video equipment. Our production company rents a lot from them because they usually have the best rates- better than Pictureline and have a bigger selection. Collin, who does video equipment rentals, is really helpful in figuring out the best equipment for the job. They will also go over the cameras to teach you how to do it. They also have seminars here and other events for video gurus. They aren't open on sat and Sunday so just make sure you get in here during the week otherwise you are screwed over the weekend. This is the high end electronic equipment person's dream as nearly anything top of the line you can dream up is here. Their video equipment rental is very extensive and very fair and they do go quite a ways out of their way to make things workable, even switching to higher end stuff when the things I rented (I was shooting a movie mostly on weekends for a couple months) wasn't returned. I spent a lot of time with the fantastic Philip, who helped me work within my budget and also gave me some very timely and useful advice on camera, software and some of the extraneous stuff, such as the tripod, the light boxes and even unrelated stuff, such as high end studio monitor headphones. That kind of service level is unparalleled and sure it costs, but are you after just price price price or do you want some value for your buck? Their repair department I found a bit less useful, particularly on larger tvs, but it took a lot of doing to even find a part for what was wrong with it and those guys downstairs are always busy, so part of that come with the territory. The bottom line here is that if I was putting together a home studio and didn't have the time or inclination to pore over Crutchfield to do my pre-shopping, I probably would make this my one and only stop. The hours can be a bit dicey to work with, but if you can do it, you will be pretty well-rewarded. read more

I paid 5k for a home theater package and when I discovered that the receiver sold me was an older model, without the latest HDMI capabilities, they wouldn't take it back on exchange. I rented a projector to play Super Smash Brothers on a big screen, and when I went to pick up my projector, I found out that it would not accommodate my HDMI needs, so they let me rent a newer projector without raising the cost. It worked perfectly and returning it was a breeze. All the people that work there are super friendly too. I will definitely come here in the future. read more

This is not a company you want to do business with. They lost their best installer and service technician they had, and their sales people, one in particular will say and do anything to generate a sale. I have purchased thousands of dollars of equipment, numerous TV's, cameras and Control 4 from them. Needless, when there is a problem they will not take care of it without charging you well beyond their estimate, and that is when the issue which is primarily related to the initial install being done improperly in the first place. It is hard to find a good company that will do expensive installs and treat you right. My friend had this company install Control 4 in their home, and after 2 years of it never working properly finally pulled out the system entirely. Be careful about their promises, as they will not follow through with them. And they will sell you new equipment without explaining to you what you are buying for the most part isn't even being broadcast yet over Comcast or Direct TV. read more

I bought a DV camera and extra battery from TV Specialists. The salesman charged me $70.00 for the extra battery that was not in a box or any kind of packaging. At the time, I did not think anything of it because I had my hands full with a new camera, DV Tapes, and so on. Later, I realized the extra battery was actually not new, but used as it would drain very quickly. I took it back but they said it was too late. These people are very dishonest. Do not shop here.
