In praise of Hunter Communications. When we moved to rural Gold Hill/Rogue River the house we…read morepurchased had Centurylink service with horrible speed. A Google search showed we might have an option for fiber in our area. Sure enough they'd just run the lines up our long dirt road a few months earlier. They ran fiber two additional poles on the street and then up our property line and to the house. All at no charge. The service was faster than our Charter in Medford and outperformed a Starlink system we tried. Our internet went down and with a quick call the were onsite the next day. Turns out a critter has chewed through a line at the road. A quick fix was put together to get us up and an appointment made for a full fix the next week. Once again crews showed up and got to work. Bang, done. Super polite and easy to work with and for less than any of the other companies we'd tried. Way to go Hunter.

I work from home and rely on the internet to do my job. I went to Spectrum, got equipment on the spot, and was set up and running the same day. I want to support local, but if you are booking service appointments 6 days plus out, you need to hire more people. I heard a comment from someone that said Hunter is more focused on getting new customers than taking care of the ones they have. I can see that. My last call to cancel the service was placed at 4:35. After sitting on hold for 25 minutes, the call disconnected when the clock hit 5:00. What kind of service company just shuts the phone off at 5:00pm cutting everyone off who has been on hold for who knows how long. If you don't care about service after the sale and don't rely on the internet for work or anything else, then go for Hunter.

No trust. Stay away. Spectrum Mobile sent a representative…read moreinto my now deceased mother's home in Lincoln City, Oregon, to set up her cable service. The tech talked her into mobile service and sold her a smartphone and service plan--the phone was later shipped to her. My mother had dementia. She and her elderly friend were unable to set up the phone, and there is no local customer service office in that city. My mom had no car, had just moved there, and had no other local support. I spent over 30 hours on the phone and made two in-person visits to my local Spectrum store trying to get her money refunded. Then, just today, I found out they ripped me off, too! When I upgraded my own phone through Spectrum, the phone support agent made it sound like I was getting a huge trade-in deal on my 1-year-old phone and would pay only $157. In reality, the $157 was the trade-in value--and I owed $842 for the new phone. This was a long conversation with the tech, and I was overjoyed with my deal. There is no universe in which I would have knowingly agreed to upgrade my 1-year-old phone....why, except for the fake deal of the century, apparently. They blatantly lied and buried the truth in the contract fine print. This company preys on the elderly in their own homes. They will take advantage of you if you let them. This feels like slavery to the company store.

However if you want to reduce or cancel services a "in person" visit is necessary. Once at the retail outlet a sign in appointment is required. Staff seems completely unaware and not concerned how long the wait is and leave the service area for breaks and unexplained reasons for long periods of time. Currently on my fourth visit to return equipment after canceling a grossly over priced cable package.

We were just fine the whole time *thumbs UP* With the recent pandemic, working from home + distance learning *just breathe* our internet service is taking a hit, but they reliably address issues and have technicians physically come out to do work (and trace from the line to your house), make adjustments/fixes along the way and ALWAYS check-in with you before completing a ticket. Outstanding customer service. Consist in their level of response. Strange Times, but Ashland Home dot Net is keeping up with the demand and continues to impress. Customer Service 5-stars. Service itself is a SOLID 3. After 4pm we always seem have slower internet speeds.... They do a good job *considering the high demand* Support local businesses and you'll be rewarded with EXCELLENT customer service and people who consistently try to do better. I've tried all 3: consistently better results than Charter and/or Spectrum Internet (in my limited experience over 6 years). NOTE: They don't issue surprise rate increases every year. 1 set price *very consistent* Technician who showed up wore a mask once he got onto the property, kept a safe/respectful distance at all times. When entering our home, he immediately donned on shoe coverings and was VERY Respectful and Accommodating when he became aware the our teen was currently on a distance learning zoom call *above and beyond respectful* I would HIGHLY recommend this business for local internet service.
