We hadn't been to Cleats North Royalton in over 15 years, so we decided to give it another try last night with the family and we're glad we did! We started with the frickle chips (fried pickles). The portion seemed a little smaller, but it was still plenty for all of us to share. The dill dipping sauce was absolutely amazing, definitely the star of the appetizer. For dinner, my one son ordered the Bavarian pretzels with cheese sauce and swapped the honey mustard for blue cheese dressing. We clearly didn't read the menu description closely enough when it said "pretzels" (plural!) because these things were HUGE. He got two giant pretzels and they were incredibly filling. He only made it through half of one and was stuffed. My other son and I ordered the chicken paprikash special. It was delicious, flavorful, comforting, and cooked perfectly. At $12.99, it was also a fantastic deal. My husband ordered six boneless wings with the Erie Island Smoke Rub along with the Rodeo Burger special. Both were outstanding. He especially loved the wings and said he'll definitely be back for more. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and completely on top of everything throughout the meal. The environment was clean, the music was great, and the overall atmosphere was really nice. We don't have a dog, but I thought it was such a sweet touch that they offer a doggie menu, with menu items such as Paw Lickin' Chicken (unseasoned grilled tenders), Pup Patties (2 beef sliders) and a Pup Cup. Such a thoughtful idea for pet families. All in all, it was a great family dinner with good food, nice portions, and solid value. I had the Italian wedding soup and it was good, tasted two different kinds of wings, the Mango/Habanero and the Lake Erie Smoked. Both good, and not for the fire eaters. Took a chance on the rice bowl and enjoyed it, although not as tasty as some establishments. The waitress was Karen, she took our 17 people plus two more tables. She was marvelous and had a lot to do with our satisfaction. No waiting for food or checks. Two downsides are the high tables and chairs, not conducive to the senior crowd, but just fine for more agile patrons. The noise, though loud was tolerable for a sports bar. read more

Better than average dive bar food. Wait staff is super friendly, eating area is clean. Bathrooms not so much. Don't order mixed drinks as they are no bueno. Nice selection of dive bar beer and wine choices. Food is pretty darn good. Burgers and wings are great, fries better than average. I had a jalapeño grilled cheese that wasn't different and great! Haven't been here in over a decade. Decided to try again on half-price wing night. Place was Packed! Updated interior which is much nicer than before. The wings? Very meaty/plump, but Seriously under-sauced. Possibly the dryest wing in history. I ordered two of their most hot choices and the coating was so meager a child could have handled the spice. C'mon, Cleats, you gotta good wing goin here, don't skimp on the sauce. Thankfully the price was right this night, but wouldn't go back at full price. Trying to find great wings is difficult. This place... was not it. While the wing size was generous, the sauces were not special. We order two 30 piece platters with a variety of sauces including the sriracha, sweet chili, buffalo and sweet heat (sorry, I can't remember the rest). The only one I truly enjoyed was the sweet heat and even then, I wasn't impressed. The chips, however, were on point! Whoever would have thought CHIPS would be the side to get? If I was just reviewing the wings, I would give the bar a 4. The service, however, was a little slow. Took a good while to receive our meal and checks. A local watering hole, with a rather unassuming exterior the interior is rather nice. We ordered two 30 wing platter which included a mound of French fries or fresh made chips. While the quality of the wings is average the quantity makes up for it. If you are expecting lighting service you will be disappointed. Our lunch took nearly an hour and a half with only 6 other patrons. No updates or refills other than after 45 min, a lame excuse that Door Dash orders came first. The order arrives but with all the wrong sauces. I haven't been to Cleats in years and a cousin suggested that we visit for some wings and beer. So off we went. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated at a high top table. There was a good crowd within and music was playing. Since my cousin worked at Cleats for a few years, she knew people that worked there. As an appetizer, we ordered buffalo chicken dip along with some stuffed potato skins. The appetizers were delivered quickly and they were very tasty. The buffalo chicken dip was good, but we eat it at home often, so I was not impressed with it. The stuffed potato skins were really tasty with cheese, bacon, chives, and sour cream on the side. For dinner, my cousin's boyfriend and I split 20 Lake Erie smoked chicken wings. These wings had a dry rub and were ordered "extra dry". They were served with home made potato chips and we asked for melted cheese dip to accommodate them, which was delicious. The home made potato chips were crispy, salty, and perfect, especially when accompanied by cheese dip. The dry chicken wings were very tasty. Between the two of us dudes, we did not polish off all the chips or wings. My 22 oz. Yuengling was only $3.50. That's a deal where I come from! Our server was very friendly and attentive. This review is purely for the wings. Discussing local wings and my father in law recommended stopping by here. We ordered some wings to go and I was very impressed. Very nice mild sauce, which did not need any fancy flavors for the wings. The wings had a good amount of heat and were fried to an appropriate crispiness. I was also excited to see Labatt Blue on draft, the perfect brew to wash down some wings. This is definitely somewhere we will return for wings, and am looking forward to trying some of the other bar food on the menu. read more

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago because it was something different from our usual go to. We used to come here pretty often but it seemed like the prices had gone and the quality had gone down. That thankfully is no longer the case. In the past 2 weeks we have gone 3 times. I have gotten wings each time and they were delicious. My husband got wings on our last visit which was Tuesday night for wing night. The wings were cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly as well. Prior to last night he had gotten sandwiches and said those were both good as well. The drinks are reasonable with pricing, a Tito and soda is $6. On Sundays their beer pitchers are $5 who can resist that deal! One of the regular things we order are the Pork Rinds, which are fresh and sooo good! My boyfriend and I normally visit cleats about once a week and we've gotten to know the people working there. Tonight we decided to try their Thursday night special on ribs. Well to our dismay we were ordering a full side of ribs and started to munch down and noticed that it was burnt and it was mostly fat and hardly any meat. We complained about it and they said that they were going to make another batch for us but we just did not want to mess with it we were so disappointed on how much barbecue sauce was on top of it to as well it was just really packed on there. We've had ribs before and they're nothing like this! They must have a new cook because they're not like the ribs that we used to have in the past. Maybe the cook is having a bad day or they have a new cook working there now it's just not the same or they're getting their meat from somewhere else. Because I remember there was a lot more meat on the ribs. I ordered a Pepsi and it was tasting like really thick syrup and no carbonation I told the girl and she said she'd help me as soon as she was done with something that she was doing and she must've forgot about me because it took her forever and I guess she was waiting for the manager to check the syrupy Pepsi. My boyfriend had to get up and ask for A Sprite or something else for me, because a that Pepsi tasted so bad. The manager finally came over after about 12 minutes and asked us what was going on with our meal as we told the gal who took our order what was wrong with our meal. She wanted to replace it with a new one but we told her know that we had changed our mind. Then I go to tell her that the salad is like just lettuce and it's a small lettuce salad but this wasn't small it was a lot. I'm not complaining about the salad except for they bring you these little containers with thousand island in them and they're not even enough to wet the leaves in the bowl, the salad bowl. I just didn't even feel like eating the salad there I just wanted to go home. And try and look for something to eat at home. They replaced my syrupy Pepsi drink for a new Pepsi that was better carbonated and not as syrupy and I was OK with it but never got a chance to finish my drink because I just wanted to get the heck out of there I was so disappointed in how the manager spoke to me when I told her about the salad and having to pay $.50 for the little containers of thousand island dressing. I had mentioned to her that we are regular patrons of the restaurant and come in regularly to have a drink and dinner and sometimes lunch. The best of the best when it comes to neighborhood watering holes. I live out of town now but am always at Cleats when I visit home. The Lake Erie Island Smoke wings cause cravings unlike any I've ever had before. It's obvious that the staff is taking every precaution to keep their guests safe, whether it be from constant sanitizing or the partitions in between tables. Cleats is not what it used to be. I remember coming here years ago and their food was pretty good, definitely above average. My wife and I have been here two separate times in the last 2 months since we moved closer. The first time we didn't have a good experience, but figured we give it another try. Both times we went, the food was not good and extremely overpriced. The waitresses were not friendly. Do NOT get the WINGS! We went for the wings because they used to be good and everyone always raves about them. They also used to be A LOT bigger than the last two times we went. We asked for extra crispy both times and they were far from it. The sauces were not good and could tell they were from some bottle that had probably been sitting in the kitchen for months. They were also pretty small and cost $16.50 for a dozen!!! Almost $1.50 a wing and they were bad... On the website it said they were $10.99.. We also got fries that were average, nothing special. And, the pretzels with cheese which was pretty good, but just the basic box of frozen pretzels that you can get from any store and then deep fried. The waitress, did not tell us anything about the specials for the day which was half off pizzas, which we might have gotten if we had known. It didn't say anything about the specials on the menu. The only reason we found out was because it said it on the receipt when we went to pay. Beers were also a little expensive and there weren't many options for craft beers. Overall, we will not be back. We gave it a couple chances and were extremely let down both times. It's unfortunate I have to leave 1 star. The food was good and a nice bar with a great beer selection. I was there during new opening last week or whatever. Their was a lady named Nicole there. She was bartending, serving inside and outside and answering phones. There was probably 8 at the bar, 3 or 4 tables inside, and 3 tables outside, phone seriously rang every 3 to 4 minutes. I felt bad for the customers because some waited 10 minutes for drinks. After she tried to keep up I seen her yell through a window she needed help. Some younger girl came out the back. Then a manager, ( I believe mother and daughter) and a cook came out. So there was 3 people in the back while she was getting drilled. Maybe it's my attention to detail, maybe it's me being a Mama's boy to a lifelong server. Idk, but listening to the manager and daughter talk about her like they were inconvenienced is enough for me to never go back there again. Came here for lunch with four co-workers. The exterior of the building is a little rough since it's located in a pretty old plaza but walking into cleats I was impressed with how modern it was. Almost the entire perimeter of the bar is covered with TVs and the bar is big! We got two wing platters to share with the five of us and we had plenty of food. Each platter came with (30) wings and either chips or French fries. Each platter allowed us to choose up to five wing sauces. The wings were okay but it was definitely the best deal on the menu. Wings aren't as big as they used to be years back but flavor choices are good. Love the Korean flavor. Didn't care for the Buffalo chicken dip. It's just franks hot sauce and a little chicken and cheese. I like it with smoothed and blended cream cheese, hot sauce with ranch or blue cheese mixed in with it. Good daily specials though. Cleats is our go to bar in North Royalton for good food and drinks. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly in my Chicken Wing adventure at Cleats The Good - the food is very good for being bar food. They have a wide selection of food, and everything we have gotten has been good. Expect for if we order take out; then it's kind of mushy and cold. I (of course) love their chicken wings - both boneless and traditional. Our favorite dry rub is the Erie Island Smoke, and my favorite wet sauce is the hot garlic. The only annoying thing is that they do charge extra for sauces on the side and ranch/blue cheese. Their Friday all you can eat fish fry is very good from what I've been told, but it's mostly French fries. The atmosphere is also very good. It's a seat yourself, and it's a bit small, but it's a fun time if you're there for food and drinks. The bad (why I had to take our one star). I personally don't drink that often (despite my profile picture). So, when my friends and I came for just dinner, the service was subpar because we weren't drinking. The next time we went in, we had drinks, the service was great! I know I've come to a bar, but that doesn't mean we are going to drink, especially when they have good food. The ugly -- nothing! I checked out Cleats during happy hour with my dad and his buddies. When my dad and I walked in (a little after 4:30 on a Friday) we were surprised there was not a lot of people in the restaurant. The restaurant is a decent size with cool decor. It is also very clean which is very nice. After being seated we were quickly greeted by our waitress. One person in the party ordered a dozen boneless wings which the menu states are $12.99 only to find out when we get the bill they're $14.99. When asked about the discrepancy, the server said the prices were updated but the new menus haven't been printed yet. No offer to adjust the price or involve a manager. Poor service. read more

They have a large menu with a bunch of great options. I'm a big fan of the wings. I don't tolerate much heat, so Medium is perfect for heat, Kentucky Bourbon are an awesome 'flavor' wing, and Lime-Pepper are my favorites. Was here last Saturday night and got the 30 wing platter. This is the original location and they have some of the best wings in NE OH. Hand-cut fries are good as well as the beer battered onion rings. The best wings are the "sweet heat" "dry rubbed cajun" and the lemon pepper. I can drink the sauce from the sweet heat; a fucking great sauce that I wish they bottled. Come here for happy hour deals until 7pm if I remember correctly. They also have a wing night on Tuesdays I think. Solid wings and fries. They do insist of giving you a 3 finger wide head on every beer you order which is pretty shady. read more

Let's just say I would give zero stars if I could! My sister and I came in to get dinner and we just received the worst service. Our server barely spoke to us. She spent most of the time sweeping. She never checked to make sure our food was okay, and we had to stop her from sweeping to get additional drinks. Our wings were so salty we could barely eat them. We all come from the restaurant industry and seeing the lack of communication and people skills is just unfortunate. We also noticed it was $6 burger and beer day so we ordered a bud light and a Roma burger for the special, we never got the special!
