NOT HOMEMADE ICE CREAM! False advertising is on their sign. It is clearly some crap "ice cream" purchased en mass as you can see on the containers and it tastes gross. I have complained to the city and state of Ohio about the false advertising. The prices are ridiculous. read more

They have NON DAIRY HARD ICE CREAM! Sorry for yelling, but two of us in our family are lactose intolerant. We've lived near this place for years and have never seen it mentioned on their menu that they have non dairy ice cream. This is old school burger and shake kind of place, and i really like it. Mainly because of the vibe and location. The ice cream is promoted as homemade, and it was really good in a chocolate malt. The food is a throw back to the old DQ days. Fresh and hot. The location is near the park and some shops, so you can make a few hours out of it. The staff was really friendly. Awesome little place with wonderful burgers and ice cream. Sure you can get the hard ice cream or the soft serve, but the secret here is the grill. They have burgers with a sort of tartar sauce on them that all follow a bear format - Little Bear (1 patty), Big Bear (2 patties), and the Grizzly Bear (3 patties). You know the stuff isn't sitting around because you will have to wait for it, but calling ahead is so easy a caveman can do it.....assuming they had cell phones. But yeah, you don't want to miss the onion rings either, nice and crispy. Also a shout out to the dino nuggets, I love when they're a little deformed and I need to try and guess what the heck dino it is when the kids ask. I've had many fond memories here, from elementary school all the way through high school. Now I bring my 4 year old and he absolutely loves it. Horrible service. I have came here a few times, because it is very convienient for me as it is close to where I live. After my past two experiences here, my boyfriend & I will never go back. The second-to-last time I came here, they forgot to make my ice cream. My boyfriend got his and we sat and waited for mine for a few minutes, finally looking over to the counter to see two employees chatting and doing nothing. He went up there and mentioned they forgot my ice cream. They made it, but had no care for it at all. This past week when we went again, we ordered and sat to wait for our ice cream. There was hardly anyone in there, not busy at all. The girl who took our order took her time talking to other employees and basically doing nothing until she decided she wanted to start making our ice cream almost 5 minutes later, it was ridiculous. read more

I got the "beef burger" off the menu at drive through. It was about 3.20. What a rip off! All it was was a choppy looking beef patty on a bun. No condiments, was I supposed to ask for those? Shake Shoppe is probably one of the best places you can ever go to. Their soft serve ice cream is to die for, and every fall they bring out their (hard serve) Pumpkin ice cream. Their food? Even better. You can get a Grizzly Bear burger for like $5. They throw 3 huge patties of beef on there, cover it with cheese, and put on some tartar sauce (its good, trust me). Pure amazing on a bun. You will be full after you eat this burger, and you will never again eat a Big Mac without thinking of the Grizzly. Look, I've been going here for over twenty-five years, and I've never had a bad experience here. Shake Shoppe has been open since like '59 or '79 or something crazy like that. Do you really think they would make it that long if they made bad shakes or didn't have amazing ice cream? Don't be an idiot, try this place if you want something amazing. Please beware that they fry the french fries, onion rings & SHRIMP in the same oil. I asked an employee & she confirmed that they are fried in the same oil. I have been going to the Loder's Shake Shoppe for nearly 10 years and I've mostly loved it. The food is good - they make an awesome grilled cheese sandwich, just like mom did. In recent years, the service has been sketchy. Today, the teen girl at the 'convenience' window interrupted me repeatedly as I ordered. Had she simply slowed down to listen to what I wanted, she could easily have translated that into the menu item offered. This isn't too much to expect in my opinion. At any rate, North Royalton is filled with warm, helpful individuals. It would be a good idea to find some to work at Loder's! i love this establishment! so cute and local, and the ice cream is to die for. kristen is a very nice worker, very helpful when i asked to sample multiple ice cream flavors. i know multiple customers have complained regarding the food, but i would say that i don't think food is their specialty. i love the flurries they serve here and i think the service is good, even in crowded times. overall, i enjoy the ice cream here and as an ice cream fanatic, i really do like it! read more
