I went to Clegg's on Siegen Lane about a month or two ago. I was passing through Baton Rouge and decided to stop to pick up some garden items. I have been to this store many of times and had a pleasant experience until this particular day. My mother and I walked into the store and soon as we begin walking down the aisle, the older white man with a light khaki shirt and pants begin to follow us around the store. This particular man had hearing aids as well. I didn't think much about it but my mom paid attention. As we left from in the back by the seeds that he was pretending to look at, he waited until we left and went outside and proceeded to follow us out there and stood by us while we looked at the squash plants. How I knew for sure he was following us, I looked towards the door and I saw come out the doors looking for us and when he found us he walked right over. He stood there as if he was examining the plants. We then left from the back frustrated with the treatment and the "profiling" we made our way to the front to check out the items we had. The man then walked back inside and stood at the door to watch as we walked out with the items WE PAID FOR! I don't know who steals seeds from a nursery, but my mother nor I have not STOLEN anything a day in our lives! While "everyone" else got to shop freely we were tailed throughout our shopping experience. So now I will be no longer patronizing this store with my hard earned money! I rather spend it at Louisiana Nursery where every customer is treated the same! WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY! Do better Clegg's! Had to get some dirt to fill up backyard sinkholes. $14 for a load of River silt did the truck and the service at Clegg was superb. Absolute best nursery! read more

I prefer to keep my dollars local whenever possible and I do all my garden shopping at Clegg's. They have good prices, and a friendly and knowledgeable staff that always answer all my questions. I have been shopping at Clegg's for 2 years now and have won yard of the month both years. That is more of a testament to Clegg's expertise than my gardening skill. read more

I'm from Los Angeles where there is a plant shop on every corner I never expected the immense selection this place has for all your soil, planter, flora and fauna needs. And they also service delivery for soil/sand by truckload; according to order- which I am looking to use in the near future. I frequent this location for house plants and shrubs. With my current position that I am working I need to buy multiple bags of soil, sand, peat moss and charcoal. I really like Clegg's blend of soil they have to offer. Multiple size bags. It is a nice base soil to build onto. They have a Great selection of gloves! To attack whatever plant project you may have on your hands that day! So happy they offer no contact pickup! Curbside pickup is a great option for people who concerned about the virus. Everyone is always very helpful and friendly. I accidentally called in my order to the Donmoor location for pickup and they had it faxed over for me then loaded it up. I especially appreciate the large bags of Coarse Vermiculite and peat moss. Wish they carried coconut coir since it is better for the environment than peat moss. I recommend Clegg's on Siegen to anyone in need of gardening supplies. read more

Clegg's price for mulch is a TOTAL RIP OFF. $5.99 for a 2 cubic foot bag vs $3.68 down the street at Lowe's for the same size. I would be OK with a slight premium over the big box cost but $2.31 more PER BAG is completely over the top. BE WARNED. read more

I couldn't believe how huge this place is. I had only been to the other location off of Florida, but wow this location is great. They had so much to choose from. I was looking for hanging baskets, the cheapest ones I saw was 17. Wal Mart is cheaper by about 4-5 dollars, but they don't have as pretty varieties as here. And the staff, they are super friendly. I went 2-3 times to ask the girl ego was out and about putting new flowers outside and she graciously answers our questions and pointed us in the right direction. She let us know which potted flowers were good for sunlight, partial sunlight, and whatnot. She was knowledgable and helpful. I even found some little plastics pits to transfer my new flowers into for 29 cents! They had ceramic and others that started at 4-5 and going higher for the more fancy. I couldn't find any soil that was relatively cheap and I went to Wal mart and got a huge bag of Miracle Gro potting soil for 2.98. Anyways, I really like this place. I want to go back and get more hanging and potted plants and flowers. And I want to get some succulents and cactuses next time, and some fruit trees. read more

I heard of this place thanks to ESPN radio and it is the best nursery I have been to. If you need help David is awesome! He spent almost 2 & 1/2 hours helping pick things to landscape my front yard. He was extremely helpful and even had some landscaping experience. I would highly recommend this place and I will always cause them for landscaping. Thanks cleggs! read more
