Fantastic little cafe with a creative menu featuring some quality ingredients. The fried chicken on toast had a moist interior and a thin crispy coating. Fried Brussels sprouts had a nice sweet but tart sauce and some crunch added with pumpkin seeds (pepitas). Great place for either a solo meal or a casual date. read more

A delightful breakfast/brunch place with friendly staff, tasteful decor, and a well priced menu . Clementine offers diverse and unique breakfast options ranging from porridge to duck to smoked Arctic char. Of course they have egg options and bacon for the traditionalists! Came in on a mid-friday morning with my husband. It was very busy and the hostess took our number down to give us a call when a table was available, so we walked around the area. Everyone was very friendly, thought the waitress seemed a tad....weary would be a good description. Not that i could blame her based on the crowd, but she was very attentive. Cozy atmosphere, rather hipster-ish, though the food is good. We ordered a bacon benedict and a belgian waffle, alongside some ricotta-tomato toast, a tea latte and a mimosa. The bacon seemed hand cut and thick, the waffle was crispy, but very airy, and the toast was a hearty whole grain, grilled deliciousness. The tea menu is lovely and definitely worth having a look over and my husbands tea soy latte was creamy, micro foamy,(difficult to accomplish with soy) flavorful goodness. Everything was excellent, however my husband was still a bit hungry. I'm not from Canada, but i've been in town long enough to be used to the escalated prices, however once we'd left, the more i thought of it, i doubt i could justify returning. I've experienced many restaurants in various places throughout the country etc. and generally don't mind paying for a good meal, however you occasionally run across a place that just doesn't do it for some reason and frankly this seemed a bit of a rip off. You will pay for each individual item you get and nothing comes with a side. It feels like the food is trying to be fancy, but charges just a tad too much for what it actually is. Personally i'd say they should throw in a cheap side as a filler- potatoes or something- on most dishes included in the price. People can fancy them up from the 'sides' menu if they wish. If you're willing to pay, the food is good as is the service. read more

Terrific food, atmosphere, coffee, and service. Great addition to both the breakfast scene and the Exchange District. Breakfast tostada was amazing and in spite of having "only" 1 egg was a substantial meal. Flavours were delicate yet rich. Shrimp Vaduvan also delicious and like all menu items unique among the offers. Dogwood coffee is served and is accompanied by a decent cocktail menu. I look forward to returning. read more

The curry mushroom toast is delicious and so is their version of eggs Benedict. Be prepared to Google stuff on the menu because most of their stuff has an ingredient or two from the Middle East (or at least the few I Googled were) that makes them a bit different. Fantastic place for breakfast/lunch! We didn't have to wait for a table but the place was full the entire time we were there and went on a Friday at 10:30am. Shared the waffle which had sour cream and caramel on it. Interesting combo as you'd expect whipping cream so the sour cream provides an interesting bite. The Chorizo Verde Tostada was my personal favorite with lots of piled chorizo topped with an avocado cream, salsa and fried egg. The home fries are always fabulous with spicy sauce than the ones at Segovia (their other restaurant in the city). Lastly service I found to be attentive enough and the decor is lovely. Down a flight of stairs so may not be a good choice for people with mobility issues as well tables are a bit tight. Will definitely be returning and bringing new people to discover this lovely little place. read more

Sunday breakfast at Clementine's 10a.m.-ish. After descending down a flight of stairs into the unknown we were welcomed into this bustling restaurant promptly and with a smile. A 15 minute wait to be seated ensued at which point the friendly, efficient service resumed. The menu offered just enough choice and after discussing the foodie dishes the three of us at the table each ordered something different. Two of us ordered savoury dishes, the mushroom toast and chorizo tostada, and were blown away by flavour explosions from the first bite to the last. The third person had waffle which met the standardized expectation of the waffle. It was a great breakfast and I desired to repeat this. I planned to meet up at Clementine's the following day at the same time. Four of us mustered in the Exchange district from all ends of the city. However this time there was no descending into the busy little joint, despite the hours on the website and entrance door, Monday October 3rd it was closed. read more

Came in for a half caffeinated cappuccino and they charged me an extra $1.00 on an already $4.00 coffee. Why? Because although there is 2 shots in the cappuccino they have to pull (?!) the shots separately. Never have I been charged an extra shot for not getting an extra shot. form out of town and the front desk lady at our hotel recommended this place for brunch. it is so cute and cozy! very unique! i got a hot cocoa for a nice treat and it came with a cute milk pattern on top like a latte. very instagrammable! my SO and i shared the eggs benny and the waffle and both were phenomenal. they give you a nice thick slice of meat on the eggs benny which was so appreciated. it had amazing flavour, something original about it but tasted like a true eggs benny at the same time. the waffle was sooo good and came with whipped cheesecake and a berry compote on top. the lemon zest was an amazing, fresh surprise. hopefully we will be back :) read more
