I love my local farmers market! Food is always so yummy. There are some great vendors that are always there and always some new as well. Special mention to Mushroom and Me bookstore, I got some really great books from there. Everyone is so friendly. Its warm and there's not a lot of shades area or well -ventilated areas if you have a sensitive little one but bring a fan! Its a good time!

We had a nice visit to this farmers market. One of the advantages at least on the day we visited is that it's not as crowded as the others so there's more space and ease to walk the old main street of Clermont. Lots of neat bricks and mortar shops as well on either side of the market. Also, it is smaller, easier to navigate and not so overwhelming. The busiest place was a coconut water vendor at the beginning. I would say about 40% food vendors and 60% boutiques offering cool handmade items from home and lawn decor to other neat items. A neat activity on the weekend. Its hours are from 9 AM to 1.

This is an amazing a really large farmers market!! You will not only find stands but also some food trucks. There was easy parking to find which made it a great experience!

Visited the Clermont Farmer's Market on Sunday and it's nice to see it has grown from the last time I visited several years ago. Truth be told it is not a big market but still it is nice to walk and see what the vendors have to sell. The veggies and fruits are always good. Nice to see other shops and restaurants open. Hopefully more people and vendors come out to support local vendors, it is always a good idea to support local business.

Whenever I have breakfast in Clermont on a Sunday I stop by the Clermont Farmers Market. It's small compared to Winter Garden but it has some interesting booths. Mostly it's the same old stuff that show up at these types of outings. Today I was a little bit surprised by the sale of litter box trained pigs. That was a new one for me. I only saw two small produce booths. I just passed by most of the set up but the gaming candles and a sweet cart stopped me in my tracks. The candles were kind of fun and something that I never heard of before and I always stop for sweets. If you decide to visit the Farmers Market it will probably be a very quick stop.

Parking was easy, free, and conveniently located to all the festivities which is a huge plus. This is also one of the few local markets where I've actually seen a large selection of fresh produce and and farm goods available. It was refreshing to see so many people bring their market bags on wheels, wagons, etc. ready to purchase fresh fruits & veggies and support our local farmers. Beautiful watermelons, tomatoes, papaya, lettuces, corn, peppers, zucchini, and more. There's a good mix of vendors ranging from jewelry and handcrafted goods to food trucks and specialty food items. We got mango coladas, mango flower with tajin, breakfast tacos, and of course, kettle corn. Huge plus that there is the downtown splash pad for all the kids to play right in the middle of all the action. It was a HOT one and this was a great way for my little guy to cool off and burn some energy while we sat and enjoyed our food. If you have kids, I highly suggest they wear their swimsuits and bring some towels to dry off.

Pricing can be a little on the higher side, but I think that has a lot to do with the area. A great place for a Sunday morning stroll to pick up some local produce and things for the week to come Super casual parking can be tough at times, but if you go early enough, you can get in and out before it gets too crowded. I would say out of all the farmers markets I have been to this one seems to get the most crowded around 10 AM.

Plus- they have shaded areas under trees with picnic tables for enjoying your food. It's also dog-friendly, so be prepared to enjoy the vast sizes and breeds strolling along with their owners. Worthy Snacks have the absolute BEST pork rind flavors. You must get the salt & vinegar and garlic Parmesan- WOW. You get a massive bag for $8 or 2 for $15. House of Jerk has some really unique jerky flavors that my husband and I love. They have a 9 for $20 deal on jerky. A new spot I tried recently was Soulful Sazon. There are a ton of places! Inside and outside, there are plenty of tables and high tops to sit at. There is a lot of grassy areas outside for kids to run around as well. The best part of Plant Street is that everyone in your party can get something different but all sit together and enjoy each other's company. MY wife and I tend to do this alot. We order smaller things from a few booths and then share everything. During the weekends and then also throughout the year, Plant Street has events such as Octoberfest, pet adoption and live singers, to name a few. This usually will bring more people here and to be honest, parking can be tough. Their private parking lot is not incredibly large and also shares with a few restaurants across from them, not located inside the market. My wife and I try to go early when we visit. We want a table to sit down, even though you can easily walk around with your food. If you cannot find parking, there is a parking garage which will be a slight walk over. The parking garage is closer to where the farmer's market is. Everyone who works at the different vendors are always very nice. I believe they are Crooked Can employees, but people will walk around picking up your beer glasses for you. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. They are priced appropriate for what you get. I definitely recommend checking out Plant Street as this is one of our favorite local places to visit. ACES!

While I am very familiar with the blue markers of the state wide Florida Historical Marker Program,…read moreoccasionally I will come across a county or city historic marker. On my way to downtown Sanford I discovered this marker on the side of the road giving the history of the first state owned Farmers' Market in the nation which was located near this site. Historic markers are a great way to learn about the formative people, buildings, and events in Florida's history. The Sanford State Farmer's Market opened on December 18, 1934 at the corner of 13th and French Avenue, Sanford, Florida. It was created in order to provide a central location for farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers. The idea for the market was developed by Fred Dorner and Gus Schmach who were both members of the Seminole Agricultural Club. Sanford Chamber of Commerce President Harry Papworth also contributed to the development of the market. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) authorized construction of the market on June 11, 1934. That same year the City of Sanford donated 20 acres of the Alex V. and Katherine K. French properties to the Florida State Marketing Board which approved the installation of telegraph and telephone equipment and a three pump filling station. The first wood buildings were constructed with loans from the Federal Emergency Relief Agency. One hundred and eight stalls rented for 50 cents a day, $3.00 per week, or $10.00 per month. Railroad service to the market was provided to the market by an Atlantic Coastline Railroad spur. In time, the market complex grew to as many as ten units, with the filling station, restaurant, vegetable cooling room, citrus packing house, barber shop, telegraph agency, and a 35 ton weighing station. Truckers could avail themselves of free showers, soap, and towels. The large volume of the market led to 27 similar agricultural markets popping up all over the state. On April 4, 1957, a fire destroyed the building and caused damages estimated at $2.5 million. The wood buildings were replaced by a more fireproof concrete structure that is still here today. For almost 70 years this market was wholesale. In 2003, a new farmers' facility was added to provide retail produce to the public.
