Description of work: I had a firepit built and surrounded by pavers, a stone surround on a natural gas grill installed, 6" cedar posts added to my patio and an old grill removed. I couldn't be happier with the work and level of service Zach and his team provided. They started on the agreed upon date and the crew arrived early each day to get started. Abel, Tomas, Estaban and the entire crew are very talented. I asked for minor changes and adjustments to the project as it was in progress and the crew had no problem making these changes. They came back at my request when the projects were completed to ensure I was 100% satisfied with the functionality of the firepit. I would not use this company. In March of 2019, we paid them to put up a retaining wall, backfill and lay sod in our backyard. They finished the work and our lawn was terrible. It was bumpy and had divots everywhere. My kids kept twisting their ankles. They came back out and put dirt over the lawn, said it would all grow back evenly. It is almost 1.5 years later and our lawn is still awful. Patches everywhere where the grass never grew back and still very uneven. Response: Is fixing your mistake going outside of your policy? Wow! You did not replace the sod. It is the same sod you laid the first time. It was awful when it was first done! You came out and saw it yourself. You said y'all would fix it by laying topsoil over it. I would not recommend this company, nor would I ever use them again. Our project was for an outdoor covered arbor and landscaping. It started badly, never recovered, and seemed to get worse as the projects progressed. On the arbor, they didn't start when they promised, didn't finish when they agreed, and kept requesting progress payments when none were warranted as very little progress was being made and not required by the contract. They did not fulfill contractual obligations of a gas firebox, installed a cheaper electric insert instead without consent, a model of which the manufacturer doesn't recommend for outdoor use, and still expected full payment for the gas model in the contract. Subcontractors were constantly showing up unscheduled, unannounced, and unsupervised, on weekends sometimes, not knowing exactly they were supposed to be doing forcing me to "manage" the project personally. (Overall, we are generally pleased with the result, except for the firebox.) The landscaping was even more frustrating. Again, no adequate supervision led to multiple corrections having to be made, and it is still wrong. They don't even honor their inadequate 6-month plant warranty in their contracts. The choices they made for the walks were ill-advised, and the bed preparation was sub-standard at best. We really dislike the result, especially considering the cost incurred. I think this company has a clear cut issue - looking at other reviews, either it was awesome and the best experience ever (hey, we put client's first!) or the worst initial sales experience ever. Mine was the latter - lady on the phone gave me the same $2.5K minimum project (mine was going to be in the tens of thousands). I gave her a description of scope and she said "oh yea we do all that". Tried to nail down some dates and times to have a review/quote given and I was told "Our sales guy doesn't do after 5PM". I'm sorry, what do you expect to happen when people actually work for a living? Anyway, she said she'll make him come out after 5PM. Day comes along - guy is 15 minutes late. Drives by our house twice in his clearly marked Infiniti with CFL logos all over it. Finally parks and comes to the door - clearly as uninterested in providing a quote as you could get. Give him a high level what we want to do, he says "Yep we can do all that, let me go get you my business card." Walks out, grabs a card, walks in and hands it to me and says he will have a quote over in 2-3 days. Considering we are tearing out and replacing decking, redoing the pool, not even a single measurement? His quote comes (a week later I might add) with a single amount and two line items. What's the point? Why would anyone in their right mind ever go with this company if they provide a 2 line quote/estimate with no details, no measurements taken? Zack, Mike, Tommy & the entire Client's First crew did an amazing job on our backyard. Our 1968 North Dallas back yard had become dilapidated with considerable shade, little grass and massive drainage issues. We sought a landscaping company that could solve the drainage issues, install some hardscape, update our sprinklers and turn the shaded, no-grass dirt into a forest oasis. We had discussions with many landscaping companies, but then we found Clients First. After meeting with Zach he sent a bid to us within 2 hours. He worked with us to make adjustments so it would fit in our budget and the result is a great back yard at a fair price. We had our old concrete partially removed then a Pennsylvania Blue Stone patio overlaid the remaining concrete. Next to that they installed a french drain as well as one on the opposite site of the yard. Over that french drain a dry creek bed was laid. In the center of the yard they poured a new concrete patio for a fire pit area with poured concrete steps leading out to it and around the side of the yard integrating to the dried creek bed. In addition, they installed new sprinklers converting the old system to a water-conserving, drip system. Throughout the process they communicated and collaborated on every detail. They began on time, every time, always respected us and our property. There were a few unexpected hiccups which were addressed right away and solved to our satisfaction. For example, on the day of the concrete pour, they weren't able to start as early as planned, but still poured that day and stayed till 9 pm to smooth the pour. I have nothing but praise for Clients First Landscaping. They are returning this spring to do the planting in the back yard and remodel our front yard as well. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone for any landscaping project large or small. They really do put their Clients First. read more

The representatives at Clients First are knowledgeable and professional. He designed a mixed stone patterned driveway that extended around my house as a walk way and invited guests all the way to my front door. A retaining wall was added to transform my once frumpy hill into a beautiful platform of art where I do yoga (almost) everyday. A hickory stained pergola was added over my patio for guests to enjoy additional shade and protection from the unpredictable weather we endure in Texas. Lastly, the designer added a finishing touch with pops of colors from beautiful flowers in a small flower bed. I've never felt so refreshed to come home! I stay outside so much of the time now.... I really cant say enough great things about Clients First Landscaping. In my original consultation- I knew I wanted something zen to really get more out of my yoga sessions outside. I was thinking very small as I am not a landscape design master. Zack really went above and beyond all of my expectations and I am so glad he did. I highly recommend Clients First. read more

We have used Clients First Landscaping for two very large projects to complete a backyard make-over. After seeing the results of the work, we are completely satisfied. They have been great to work with! They are very responsive. When I had questions, they were answered promptly and professionally. I never felt like I was completely in the dark with regard to the project plan, or the status of the work, and at times when I wasn't sure about the status of things, Zach Conti was easy to get in touch with, and responded to both text and voice mail, promptly. The work we had done included a new patio, patio cover, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, a 4' tall retaining wall, a fence, and complete landscaping; including sod. In the end, we are completely satisfied with everything! I'll admit, there were a couple of moments when we weren't happy with some things. However, Clients First responded appropriately. We came to agreement on what it would take to make it right, in a way that was mutually beneficial, and Clients First came through! I think it's important to understand that when it comes to these types of projects, there are always going to be hiccups. It's how a contractor handles those hiccups that really shows who they are, in terms of how well they will stand by their work. Clients First proved to be a great partner, and followed through fabulously on the agreements we made. I would definitely recommend them for any kind of landscaping and hardscape you need built. I had a drain work done through this company several years ago, so I called them again to request a quote on something else. The person said there was minimum cost of $5500. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate, and no one showed up. When I called back, the person said she sent a message for confirmation to the wrong phone number, apologized, and asked to reschedule. This person then asked me if I was aware of $15000 minimum. In a matter of 2 weeks, I got two completely different information from their staff. I was put off by lack of education for the telephone staff and decided not to work with them. read more

A very disappointing experience, especially since they were listed in the best of Frisco businesses booklet. When I called to schedule a consult, the first thing the girl said was, "we have a $2500 project minimum". That's fine (I need close to $4000 in work done), but it should never be the first thing you say to a potential client. She would have learned that quickly by asking what I was looking for first. When the man came to see my yard, he was there for about 10 minutes, absolutely no consulting, in fact he just said we can do this, and I'd have to ask, what is that? To my grass, my beds, my flowerbed borders......everything. No discussion, he never asked me a single question or what my budget was. Said they would email me an estimate within a few days, and to date...... I have not received one. That's was over 2 weeks ago. I've hesitated to do this review hoping that I'd hear from Zach. So disappointed!! We had Zach come to our home to discuss a full front yard makeover, new fencing, pool resurfacing/tiling and deck replacement. I should have read these reviews before I contracted with "Clients First" in May 2018. My experience with Kyle and his team was fine early in the project that I paid them $6042.96 to complete. But I had to ask them to come back to fix issues with the work and handle unfinished items -- replacing plants that were dying, adding sod where the crew had dug up grass for a drain and left a mud pit, patio pavers separating from the concrete, drains that clogged when it rained -- this went on until October 9 when owner Michael Williamson sent me his final email: "Mam it was not in your contract for us to put sod down where the drain is installed. You also have plenty of sod in that area if it was optimal for growth. Which it is not. I am not in the business of doing things for free. We have come out several times to fix several things and you always have something else for us to do. At this point we have tried multiple times to make you happy and nothing has succeeded. We will not be coming out to put any sod down." Do not believe the one year warranty they give on the work. Although Kyle was personable and responsive throughout, I would never recommend this company. And yes, I still have bare soil that turns into a mud pit when it rains. read more

I would not recommend. When placing stone pavers, 2 sprinkler heads were buried without capping off. The same thing happened with the sod placement- a sprinkler was buried even though it was needed to water the sod. A flower bed was also placed, and although the sprinklers were not buried this time, they were not adjusted at all to adequately water the bed. There is absolutely no attention to detail! I hesitate to call the services "landscaping" since something so fundamental and basic as irrigation is not considered. I could not be more pleased with the work Clients First did with our very outdated landscape in our front and back yard! I have received MANY compliments. After my first meeting with Zach I knew I was able to give him full design control. He gave our boring yard life and color again! Not only did he stick close to the initial quote, he also completed the job in the projected timeline as well. His crew worked extremely hard and every night tools and materials were cleaned up. After a month of the job completion Zach reached out to follow up on the life of the plants. I definitely recommend using Clients First for any landscape and/or hardscape jobs needed! I reached out to Clients First Landscape last Wednesday to get a consultation scheduled. Initially I was very impressed since they got back to me immediately and scheduled the appointment from 3-4 pm today. 4:15 rolls around and still no sign of anyone coming. I called the company back only to find no one answering their phones (they are still open according to their business hours). I was redirected to a voicemail box only for it to state that it is full and therefore cannot leave a message. I was hoping the negative reviews I read on here were not true but it appears they have a consistent issue with follow-ups and overall responses to customers (unfortunate given their company name). I took off of work this afternoon so to find that to be a total waste is aggravating as well as severely disappointing. Awful first impression. read more

I would never choose this landscaping again! They helped us build a covered patio as well as remove the fences beginning of last year.They finished it late than they promised and we found the nails of our removed fence popped out 2-3 months after they finish moving it! I wrote several emails to the owner and was told that part is not included in the warranty. We feel really disappointed about that! But still I asked for the reparation for the safety consideration and he told me they are on a big project so they don't have any time to take care of us! Later I was told they would send someone to see to it and we need to pay for that ourself. But half an year passed, nobody showed up at all! "Clients first" should be called "Clients Last"! I had a gentleman come out to give me a quote on a landscaping border on 7/7/16 that was going to be a stone border capped with brick and a few other things. I took a day off work to do this since it was during the week. He gave me a quote for $1600 and scheduled me for August 8th. I thought it seemed like a long wait, but was willing to wait since their work looked good in pics they sent. Two weeks later I get an email saying the scope of the work was not worth their time and the distance to drive and they were cancelling the job while refunding my money. If you look on their website it says they service Tarrant county and we live in Colleyville. Very deceptive advertising. $1600 not worth their time!? Really? I asked the guy why would he quote me that and agree to it while accepting my money if "it was no within the scope of their work"? Crickets. He said he understood my time and their time was "precious". If that's the case why did they waste my time to take off of work for their quote to have them cancel on me 2 weeks later? Once again crickets. It's this simple...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and unless your job is worth $3,000 to them it's not worth their time! That's right, unless you are going to shell out 2K to THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to them they will cancel on you! DO NOT USE this shady company!!!!!!!!! "Money first, Clients last" should be the new slogan! **My response to his**... Slander, no. Facts, yes. Arguing and threatening? If by that you mean the guy would not even admit he wasted my time (took a day off to meet) and money. Description of Work: We had Front yard landscaping done - specifically replacing some areas on lawn where there was no grass, planting small bushes/plants, confirming underground irrigation/sprinklers were working, and installing stonework. I have edited the review below after talking to Clients First, as there was miscommunication. Some of the plants that were initially planted have died unfortunately. My husband called the person who gave us the estimate and left a message, but he never received it. We should've called the office instead, so that is our fault. After clearing that up today, someone will be coming out next week to look at the plants and replace the dead ones per their warranty. Also, the color of the stone that was written into the contract did not match the stone on my house (stone on the house is beige, and the stone that was brought was a light gray). I guess we should've gone out and looked at the color before having it written in the contract, so that is our fault. The head crew person called their office after I told him that I really did not think it matched, and he did go out and get a stone that was much closer to the color of my house, which I REALLY appreciate. I am very happy with the stone that was placed. One of the main reasons I have not given a higher score (and this may change after they come next week to replace my dead plants) is that the sod that was placed seemed to have a lot of yellow/brown in it as opposed to green. The sod is not under warranty, which I did not realize at the time but is probably documented in the contract. My complaint is that the sod was placed on the 2nd (and last) day of the job, but it was brought the morning before when the job was initially started. As such, it stayed out in the heat without being planted/watered for greater than 24 hrs, most likely contributing to the discoloration. So, although I understand that grass can die, it is just disappointing to spend thousands of dollars on your front landscaping and not have it appear as green as you were envisioning. This is something I will have to live with, but it unfortunately sours my experience. However, as mentioned above, Clients First will be sending someone out to replace the plants that have died and are under warranty. When we contacted the office, they were prompt at responding back, and I anticipate resolution of that issue next week. Overall, the workers were very efficient at their job, which I really appreciated. The staff responded quickly after our miscommunication was cleared up. read more

We had a couple of paver patios put in and some landscaping. They rerouted the sprinkler system to ensure proper coverage. It still looks the same a year later. They do high quality work and I can't recommend Client First Landscaping enough. I have tried cheaper options and been frustrated and disappointed every time. It was clear that the crew they sent to my house did not know what they were doing. They ultimately did more damage to my property than anything. The entire Clients First crew was phenomenal from start to finish. We needed an overhaul of our backyard surrounding our pool. The job included adding pavers to our existing patio, some irrigation work and designing and planting landscape around our pool that was drought and "dog" tolerant. Zach gave us great options, completely understood our needs and got the job done super fast (and neat). His crew was great with their communication and showed us each step of the process to ensure we understood what they were doing and didn't have any questions. When we had a few hiccups with our irrigation system not functioning properly after the project was done, Zach had people out there fixing it right away. There isn't anything to complain about with these guys. They do it all and they do a great job. We went over ideas, requirements, concerns, costs, etc and Zachary make sure to address them all. We needed to upgrade and beautify our front, side walk way and backyard lawns as it very lifeless and plain looking. Project pricing and specifications were very clear and competitive (stayed within our budget) which resulted in us moving forward with Zachary's company. Needless to say we were impressed and on the quality of work provided by Zachary's landscaping crew. Very knowledgeable and friendly guys who worked on our yards for 5 days straight. Any ideas, comments and or suggestions were welcomed during the "working" period and the crew were always enthusiastic to serve us. Today our home looks like it is worth 5-10 million bucks and will most likely raise property values for our neighborhood. Our neighbors are constantly praising our home for looking "gorgeous/beautiful" and countless cars are slowing down to check out our front yard and take photos. I'm putting forth this review 12+ months after having spent approximately $5,500 to enhance my landscaping. Note... as my landscape has matured over the last 20 years, there is little direct sunlight upon the areas replanted. Due to disease and shading, much of my previous mature hedging (facing street) had died and needed replacing. I discussed this with CFL and I believed that the proposed shrubbery would be tolerant of shade, a main concern. The tear out of a large crepe myrtle as well as the dead and diseased hedging was done completely to my satisfaction. I do not know the actual cost of the tear out. Regarding the planning and install of new landscaping, the result is not satisfactory. The overall scheme, which I agreed to, has proved to be a huge disappointment. I put my trust into CFL solutions, including the design work because I don't have the eye for such. The hostas and Japanese maple are nice and admirable. That's as far as I can go with compliments. I trusted CFL Solutions to design a replacement for the dead hedging. I completely understood that I was taking on less mature plantings and that it would take time for the new hedging to fill out. I'm still patient in that regard but having iterated that, in the last 12+ months there has been no noticeable growth and the plantings are similar in size to the day they were installed. I absolutely cannot reconcile the look that I see today versus the plan imagined. Many linear feet of plantings are jumbled and not related from one plant to the next and they are not thriving. A key perennial bed has "flowering" plants that are monstrous and look like weeds, overshadowing the hedging behind. I find this quite embarrassing. I have been in touch with CFL, emailing Zach who promised many weeks ago that he would follow up. It has not happened and I find this most disappointing. read more

These people do NOT know what they are doing when it comes to drainage. We had them out in 2017 to re-landscape an area and to route water away from the patio. Nothing they did helped with flooding. When we asked them to come back in 2018 to revise some rock placement, they said we need to do more drainage work to "fix" the problem. Of course it costs us several thousand dollars again. They brought two young men who did not speak English and the "supervisor" left them alone. I could see they did not understand the problem. I had to get my son-in-law on the phone from the East Coast to speak to them and explain the job. Nothing changed with our flooding problem. My husband finally put in a much bigger drain in one area that helped somewhat; and then this weekend dug up the entire pipe Clients First put in. It was running up hill all the way existing lower drain to move water to the street. He had to dig deeper and change the slope considerably. I guess that old adage is true..."If you want something done right; you have to do it yourself". We will not recommend Clients First to anyone. read more
