HTPP fosters a beautiful sense of community--not just among the children, but among families and teachers as well. It's a place where everyone knows your child's name, where communication is open and thoughtful, and where genuine relationships are built. One of the things we appreciated most was the emphasis on whole-child development. Our boys learned so much--not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. The teachers are incredibly skilled at meeting children where they are, encouraging curiosity, and helping them grow into confident, kind, and capable little humans. We also absolutely loved the music and gardening programs. The joy and creativity our boys experienced in their music classes carried over into our home--there were so many days we were serenaded with songs they'd learned at school. And the gardening program is so special. Watching them develop a connection to nature, getting their hands in the soil, and learning about plants and the seasons was joyful. On top of that, the school's commitment to outdoor play is something we deeply value. Every day includes a minimum of one hour of outdoor time plus weekly garden exploration. This connection to the natural world is rare and so meaningful--it really makes HTPP special. We are endlessly grateful for our time at HTPP. It's more than a school--it's a magical beginning to a child's learning journey.

We knew going into this that it was expensive, but what we didn't realize is that for the VERY high price, there are still so many HIDDEN FEES! My son was there for 6 months (started in January) and we were charged $600 for a mat and activity fee. He was 6 months old.. had been there for not even a year, and our first "mat fee" was FREE. Not to mention infants have the highest tuition and it was still on us to provide their food - and i dont mean bottles - i mean snacks, baby food.. I didn't even realize that food was BARE mimimum ! If you have the money and are willing, it's 100% worth it, but if you are a working parent who doesn't have a ton of excess money, go somewhere else. They will charge you an arm and a leg. I am extremely disappointed in the conversation I had with the director of Springmont. I initially…read morereached out via email to discuss our unique scheduling situation with my children. We discussed the months we would be living in Atlanta, that I was interested in having them in the summer program, and that my oldest was not currently enrolled in a montessori program (he is only 4). We scheduled a call as I am not currently living in the area. I had to email the director the day of to see if she was still available for a call. Atlanta was on a weather closure but the director never communicated this to me. We rescheduled for a couple days later. The entire phone call consisted of why my children could not attend (we aren't currently enrolled, I could not start that late in the semester, they are not current montessori students etc). All of her reasonings for why my children would not be accepted at Springmont were topics discussed via email. Not only did she waste my time by not cancelling the initial call, she wasted my time with questions that were incorrectly answered via the initial email communication. I would not write a check to this school nor would I trust this director and her unprofessionalism with my children.

He had attended Sarah…read moreSmith in elementary school and we were not sure that Sutton was a good fit for him so we did a tour of FMSA, which happened to be on the day of their 6th year presentations. We were blown away at how composed, articulate, and kind the students were. Each child did a 20 minutes PowerPoint presentation in front of 50 people with poise and aplomb. The A/V went out during one presentation and the other kids swooped in to the rescue, fixing the problem. Our son was unusual because most kids grew up in the Montessori system where he did not. He thrived from day one and became an ambassador for the school. He would tell the other kids that they did not realize how lucky they were. He spent 3 years at the school and was reading at the level of a sophomore in college when he was in 8th grade. (He didn't know that....the beauty of Montessori is you are never ever bored). He learned how to mediate disagreements, he worked on a farm at the land school, hanging drywall, he ran a school lunch program and blossomed into a confident, poised young man. I cannot say enough good things about this school. I wish that I had gone to Montessori; it is that impressive.

The school facilities were pretty nice - walls decorated with school decorations and students' works. Very colorful setting that encouraged a safe space for learning. For a Saturday morning program, I was very impressed by the involvement and presence of the school administration. Teachers and the principal arrived on time, ready to engage with the students. Good teachers really don't get enough praise for their dedication. Students also arrived by school bus, which is a reliable and efficient way for students to get to a school program on the weekends - so cool! The thing that really topped it off for me was the diversity in the student population. The student body represents 31 different countries... yes THIRTY ONE countries. Most are children of refugees and come without an English background. You definitely would not be able to tell the latter because these kids were engaged throughout the program, displaying proficient in learning/comprehension. I am all for children growing up with diverse group of friends and learning cultural values early on in life. It's something that won't do harm in their future. We wanted to challenge the 3rd grader who wasn't really pushing himself and wanted to build the confidence up in the 1st grade who was having trouble enjoying math. A year and half later I can safely say both goals were accomplished. Moreover, while I can't say they Love going, they do enjoy going and have really enjoyed the instructors.
