Dr. Corman is not only an amazing doctor, but a genuine person as well. I first came to Dr. Corman's about a year and a half ago after looking for providers in the area. My mental health was "bleh", so to speak, and at the suggestion of my therapist, I went to a psychiatrist to see if they could help. Right away Dr. Corman took the time to listen to my problems and thought up a game plan that he believed would work with me and my current mental state. That month the doctor changed my life. He made the time for me to come in and take tests, and discuss aspects of my mental health so that I could get the best treatment possible. After a year and half, he is still treating me the same way. Checking in on me even though he does not need to, and making the time to make me feel like someone he cares for, and not just a patient. If you are in the area, and need a provider, go to Dr. Corman. He will make sure you are well cared for. The office staff is great too! Super kind and patient, as well as transparent. I have seen some recent reviews of Dr. Corman and his office and I am disappointed by the perceptions of these people. I am a registered nurse and my son is a patient of Dr. Corman. I researched for a psychiatrist who was a leader in ADD treatment and research. Dr. Corman has done a lot of research on ADD and the testing for this condition. He is not a therapist and no one should expect a therapy session from him. While I will agree that he doesn't give you the touchy feelys that a person may want, a person should see a therapist for that. Once he has made a diagnosis and done testing, you only see him for prescriptions, adjustments or changes to meds. I am very appreciative of the care he has taken to find the right medication for my son. As for the office, they are very nice and I have not had a problem with any billing. My insurance has recently changed and Dr. Corman may not be covered, but I am willing to pay cash to have him care for my son. read more

I came to Dr Corman with more issues then most. Those issues had put me In a place where I was about to lose my family. Not only did Dr. Corman waist no time in diagnosing me. He did not give up on finding the mediation that was right for me. Yes his practice is different then most, but I find that it is better. He offers a way to find a medication that works with your body. Everyone reacts to medication different and in the field of mental health every medication reacts to everyone different. So he gives you a medication to take and then a test which concludes in either the medication working or not. He does not give up on his patients!! He is very caring and accommodating. Not only did he help with my ADD, but also with my anger issues. You must not use tobacco or caffeine if you want his help. Yes it's hard but, if you truly want the help you can do it. To me that is a man who cares about the well being of his patients!! I am happy to say that Dr. Corman saved my family and my Marriage! I recommend him to everyone! I have decreased my review, because - even though he seemed like a perfect fit when I was newly diagnosed - he is not as good of a fit over time. Now that I'm getting into nuances of medication (sleep patterns, lifestyle changes, etc) his abrupt style is not helpful. If you're looking for a basic diagnosis and basic checkups, his short term availability is great. However, once you get into monthly checkups, if you have any symptoms or questions about changing your meds, the other doctors are much more professional in gauging your WHOLE story and recommending accordingly. Dr Corman probably would have just cut off my story and made some assumption. It wasn't me who recommended the change - it was my therapist who know the whole office! Now I am seeing Dr Sagal. Dr. Corman is a highly skilled doctor. Instead of just relying on anecdotal evidence of ADD he uses standard diagnostic queries and then does what a GOOD doctor should do. He has a computerized test that will give quantifiable comparative results. By using this test as a baseline he can accurately determine the effectiveness of your medication and dosage. In my case, I felt a bit slower and more deliberate after trying my initial dose. I felt that my test responses were slower and less accurate. However, the test showed that I had actually responded quicker and more accurately and more importantly with more impulse control. Later, when I felt my medication was less effective he was able to find a better medication and we were, once again, able to quantify the difference through objective testing. It is VERY important to not over medicate any patient and he is very cautious with his recommendations. In fact, he is aware of interactions and the effects that everyday substances have on the human brain and takes these into account while working with you. Dr. Corman may come across as gruff. I have found that he does not try to make you 'feel good.' He is not into counseling. His job is to help you get to a place where you can have control of your impulses and then begin working on making the changes that are needed in your life. Dr Corman is a caring person. During one of my early meetings with Dr Corman I shared with him some of the changes that I wanted to make in my life. He has several therapists on staff and he recommended that I meet with one of them after listening to me. The match turned out to be very good. I received some good coaching, education, mentoring and feedback from these meetings. I would, and I have, recommended Dr Corman to many people because he is very effective at diagnosing and treating ADD. He has the resources and the knowledge to help people IF THEY TRULY want to be helped. read more

Dr. Corman helped our son in ways that are no less than life changing. Our son was struggling throughout elementary and early middle school. He was given an IEP and completely misdiagnosed. He was bullied by students and mistreated by teachers and Administrators at Newcomb Academy in Long Beach. We hired Attorneys and Advocates to bring pressure to bear on the Staff and Administration, and RSP at Newcomb. My experience with many teachers and staff at Newcomb was abysmal. Denial, Avoidance, and abdication of responsibility was their specialty. We requested, and were granted permission to enroll both of our boys in the neighboring School District. We then were referred to Dr. Corman. He recognized in a minute that our son had been misdiagnosed by all of the "experts," and likely had ADHD. He was tested, and prescribed daily medication (Vyvanse) the changed his life immediately. Preseveration halted immediately. He was no longer overwhelmed by distraction, and was able to clearly focus for the 1st time in his live. He began to excel at his new school. He is now in H.S. where he is a happy, active 15 year old Sophmore. He is carrying a 4.0 GPA, he is a varsity High Jumper and Broad Jumper, and is active in Choir competitions. Dr. Corman is truly an expert in the field of ADHD. He has helped my children tremendously with his careful attention to diagnosing, using multiple measures rather than just a survey instrument. One assessment tool he uses is the TOVA (which I believe is a standardized assessment tool) to help determine: if a child has ADHD, needs medicine, benefits from meds, and if so what type and dosage. He then carefully monitors as they grow. I would be extremely hesitant to consider medicines if this tool was not available. I do have to agree with other reviewers that the office staff is somewhat lacking in professionalism and customer service skills. Dr. Corman himself is an intense individual, which may be a little off-putting to some, but he knows his specialty thoroughly which is the most important thing to me. read more

We needed professional advice about our 5-year-old's behavior, so I sought out the closest doctor who was approved by our insurance. The office signed us up for an appointment with the head doctor, Dr. Clifford Corman, who turned out to be the biggest jerk I had ever the displeasure of meeting. After listening to, and apparently ignoring, our concerns, he began his agenda, which was to test our daughter for ADHD by asking us a series of questions, occasionally trying to put words in our mouth to confirm his premeditated diagnosis of ADHD. He claimed that our daughter was disorganized and had trouble sleeping because she had ADHD - neither of which were among our real concerns, and besides, don't all kids have those issues once in awhile? And for a psychiatrist who supposedly worked with kids and had seven kids of his own (four of whom he said had ADHD), he kept on scolding our kids to stop touching things in his boring office. I don't know about the worth of the other doctors in the office, but avoid this charlatan at all costs. read more

I am a young adult, student, and teacher living with Attention Deficit. Doctor Clifford Corman is the greatest doctor I have ever had. He is a gentleman and a true genius. His help has taken me from an unemployed recluse ostensively living on the margins of trust fund to a fully employed and socially well-adjusted responsible adult. I am forever in debit to his flexibility, hard work, and expertise. First of all I would like to mention that my severe Attention Deficit Disorder makes it difficult for me to make appointments and keep them in a timely manner. While most doctors treat this behavior with a punitively draconian nature, not Corman MD. This great man understand the nature of the beast, and has always seen me in an incredibly expeditious manner; whether I was a day late, a couple hours early, or whatever the case may be - once when I had an emergency and drove over without an appointment he dropped everything he was doing took me right in and immediately correct my condition (I have never seen anything like this). I have had more than a dozen psychatrist and none have even come close to this level of accommodation. In addition to his understanding approach to appointments, his is incredibly efficient. Again this is extremely rare in psychiatry. Many of these doctors will go on and on all day about god knows what holding up those of us with busy agendas. He gets right to the point, stays focus, and gets you in and out without all the trivial nonsense. Third his highly sophisticated diagnosis system does take a little time, but it helps to get to the core of the condition and pin point the disorder and determine the appropriate pharmaceutical treatment with laser precision. Far from finally, but in an effort to keep this review brief, I just want to mention that this outstanding physician is not only incredibly intelligent he his a genuinely authentic caring individual who will go the extra mile to insure his patient receive all the benefits they need, including filling out forms and supporting documentation for education and vocational needs. I was looking for a doctor to help my wife with her depression and wish I never would have found this doctor!!!! He got so impatient with my wife for mumbling to the point she started crying so hard he had to get me out of the waiting room to calm her down. When I got into his office he acted as though she was not there and told me what was wrong with her and she should not be acting like this. So apparently depressed people should not cry or mumble, he said she was ADHD which it looks like all his patients are lmao I am fine with the diagnosis and even my wife was after we talked later, he would not treat her till she stopped smoking and got off all other meds which is a joke to do in one week. Overall treated us like a jerk and pretty much said your wife us just acting like this with no sincerity at all!!!! Find a new doctor if you have an appointment set with him!!!!! read more

I have been receiving services from Dr. Corman and his staff for more than 10 years now. I have always appreciated short wait times, courteous service, and to-the-point counseling. Dr. Corman never wastes my time, is highly approachable and genuinely cares about his patients. Prior to Dr. Corman, I had been diagnosed with severe depression by several doctors. Several anti-depressants were tried, and my "depression" never diminished, but became more pronounced. In addition, the side effects of these medications led to weight gain, immune problems, and other physical difficulties. This lasted for 20 years. Shortly after beginning treatment with Dr. Corman, it was determined that I had ADHD and very few symptoms associated with depression. Within a few months it was obvious that, prior to Dr. Corman, I had been misdiagnosed. I am very grateful for Dr. Corman and his expertise. I have been going to Dr. Corman for 2 years now. I was diagnosed with ADHD and have been on adderal for 2 years. I have seen him Every month or the last 2 years and he NEVER remembers me! He asks me what I do for work ( I am a student), asks where I go to school (I tell him USC every time) and he just nods his head then writes me my refill prescription and walks me out. He is the most uncaring doctor I have ever seen. My dad was recently hit by a car walking across the street and died from his injuries. I told Dr. Corman and all he said was, " wow imagine how the guy who hit him must feel". He did not even ask me if I was ok or how I was dealing with everything. This was the last straw for me and I will be changing doctors immediately. This man should not be in the business of help people because he clearly has no compassion. read more

I have been the ADD poster child for going on 2 decades at this point, and have met only marginal success at managing it with others - Dr Corman has a very precise, technical, mathematical approach that was a welcome change from the more haphazard approach that other docs I have interacted with over the years seem to use. My son has ADHD. Dr. Corman has been an indispensable part of my son's treatment. He always listens fully to my concerns and responds to them with both kindness and honesty. I took the TOVA test for ADD and Dr. Corman did not explain the results very well. I looked up my score on the official TOVA website and it was not even close to the ADD range. I called the office to ask if I could speak with Dr. Corman about why he wanted me to come back for followup tests- each one is very expensive and my insurance would not cover it. He never called, and I cancelled my next test. I am now getting billed 4 months later for the full amount of the first test, which he had discounted because I was paying out of pocket (yes, that was nice). My gut feeling is that this man is spiteful and that this has something to do with me canceling further testing. I could be wrong, but based on my encounters with him so far, he is the kind of person that makes me think such thoughts.....I don't trust him and am not optimistic of a respectful conversation about my bill. Considering I have triplets we see alot of Doctors of various specialties, including myself throughout the years. I read the postings on yelp before taking my son to Dr. Corman but we were referred by very good friends of ours who we trust completely so I decided to go anyway. Dr. Corman isn't so bad in fact I liked him. HOWEVER, I have NEVER been in a doctors office that the front staff are the rudest bunch of women I have come in contact with. Very unfriendly, unhelpful and condescending. I had never been to an office for any type of diagnosis of ADHD and my son was nervous. Also, the sign at the front of the window "Do Not Tap on the Glass" I had the misfortune to have to call into the office because my insurance needed an "official diagnosis" prior to filling my sons medication and before I could explain what I was looking for I was interrupted numerous times. I still don't know if what I need is going to get done or not and I shouldn't be afraid to "call" my doctors office. Not too sure what to do next but a second opinion comes to mind. read more
