At the time, we decided to pause and complete other needed items first, including installing a fence. Now that we're ready to move forward, I reached out again. Instead of discussing next steps, I received a call questioning whether we were "serious this time," along with comments about his time being wasted due to prior quotes and visits. Joey came out and went over the issues we had with our spa. He looked over everything and described everything that they would do to fix the issue and make the complete pool and spa run more efficient and stay cleaner. He never tried to up sale us on anything and was very upfront and good to work with. After the job was complete he checked back in to make sure everything was done to our liking and we were happy with the work. The whole system is night and day compared to what they started with and works so much better. Unscrupulous Business Practices! 2 April 2022, I received a notice from Cliff's post marked on 30 March that prices for their pool service was once again being raised by another $20 a month due to gas prices and chemicals on 1 April 2022. That's a 40% a month increase over 8 months. I was never notified about the first increase, they just started hitting my credit card an extra $20 a month. At least I received a notice in the mail on 2 April 2022. I immediately called them as soon as I read the notice to stop service, I was put on hold and then told they would call me back as the person who handles cancellations was on the other line. This is Certainly their choice to pass on increased operating cost to costumers, but I was not afforded the opportunity discontinue their service. They hit my credit card for the $140, which includes the new increase on 1 APRIL 2022!!! I have contacted the BBB. I highly recommend you read the reviews, note the trends and responses from the owner before hiring this company to remodel or service your pool. read more

I work here, This is the best company Ive ever worked for hands down to ever work for. This is a family owned business and these people know what they are doing. They are fair and upfront about their business practices and explaining to the customer that pools have many layers and for a surface removal it costs more money to remove more layers. They are honest and dont try to get one over on their customers, and dont try to sell you things you dont absolutely need. If you absolutely need a resurface or a replacement of tile or other things they will let you know and if you refuse thats on you, when they suggest something that you absolutely need you absolutely need it. Before this I worked commercial concrete and ive worked a couple of jobs where the owners were cold and not concerned about their employees. Cliff asks me how my day was every single day and we all hang out at the office after work because its such a great work atmosphere. These people are true professionals and anyone who leaves us a bad review is probably someone who did not take care of their pool/paving properly, even if you get your pool serviced by a different company the chemicals they use can greatly impact the surface of your pool. This company is not the cheapest company for a reason, you will always get what you pay for and we truly do quality work. I truly believe in the leadership of this company, Ive only worked at one other company where they were really good people and that trickles down to the quality of the work. If you take care of your people they will always take good care of you. We dont cut corners and try to do the best job we can with every single job and also keeping your budget in mind. Ive worked as a salesman at a dealership where they literally were just money hungry and tried to make as much profit as possible and cut every corner on every turn, I truly believe in these people. Stay away from this company!! I had cliffs Pool come out to do an estimate for me on a resurfacing job and they sent your associate CJ. He came to the house and did not give much information and was very arrogant and condescending. he did send me a quote and I decided to hold off on the project for sometime. When I called them back in order to get my options again he said are you ready to do it this time or are you just wasting my time. He said he would have his supervisor call to schedule an appointment. when Lori called me back to set the appointment I told her I did not want to work with CJ and I would prefer to have somebody else come back to the house and start from scratch. I explain to her sometimes personalities do not always mix and she said she would have a supervisor come out to give me a new quote. I then received an email from her stating that if I did not use CJ that they would not be able to assist me with this remodel. I guess this is a blessing in disguise as if their customer service is this poor before even obtaining a dime for me could you only imagine if something went wrong and I had to call them back for help after the job was done. terrible customer service from the start. read more

I hired cliff's to install artificial turf in my back yard. The timing of the install was good and the job was done quickly. About 2 weeks after they finished, I started to notice weeds in the turf. The whole purpose of installing fake grass is to alleviate the weed and grass maintenance. I contacted Cliff's and I was told that "this is common." "Airborn seeds are dropping on the turf and growing." "Spray them with weed killer." Really???? Maybe 1-2 sprouts but when I returned from a 2 week vacation, the turf was absolutely covered in weeds. I then contacted the turf manufacturer and they stated that a weed barrier is recommended to be installed below the turf. Cliff's did not do this and I have photos to prove it. I contacted Cliffs again and was told the same response. The second issue is that blades of the turf are falling out of the matt. I was told this is normal and Cliff's fix was to send guys to pull the blades out and drive a nail through the opening. What kind of company provides such horrible customer service and quality work? I am in the construction industry as a GC and if my contractors ever showed this lack of quality, they would be thrown off the job. Do not use them for turf install.!! Cliff's pools resurfaced my pool and added a salt water system. Within two years despite 4 new motherboards the salt water system stopped working altogether. I was told it was only warrantied fir a year and despite the fact that in year one the motherboard had to be replaced four times the manufacturer and Cliff's Pools would do nothing. The diamond Brite resurfacing is starting to come up as it is supposedly guaranteed for ten years I have contacted Cliff's Pools on 3 separate ocassions sent pictures as requested and not once have I received a reply. The last time I was told that Cliff would review and get back to me by Lynette. Of course my issue was ignore. If you are thinking of using Cliff's Pools DON'T they do not honor guarantees or address your complaints once they feel they are done with the job read more

Hired Cliff"s Pools to do a substantial pool job: resurface pool, install salt water system, replace skimmer, vacuum lines, pool beam repair and deck resurfacing.  Similar to other reviews I would not use this company again and would only wish to save one other consumer the same headaches I've experienced.   Cliff's initial sales pitch and first interactions seem to shine with positivity.  However, once the work begins the regular addendums begin to accumulate and as the price continuously escalates is when the  excuses begin and the lack of integrity and professionalism rears its ugly head. I had the misfortune of returning to the storefront to ask for assistance with broken concrete coping at the site of the replaced skimmer where " their unforeseeable collapse of my pool deck" occurred and my concern that the mounting bracket they installed for the pool light appears to be rusting and staining the diamond bright.  I was escorted to a closed office by Cliff Freyman and expressed my wish for help and my concerns.  The man's behavior was abrasive and arrogant.  Every word out of his mouth is defensive, his preloaded excuses are despicable.   His idea of being helpful is to announce that he is the owner of the company and therefore the "pool expert". Considering I have paid in excess of $20,000 to Cliff's Pools I asked Cliff why he wasn't able to muster a smile or a friendly demeanor toward a customer who up until this day considered himself a respected member of the "Cliff's Pool family of contended customers" and why he felt the need to be so abrasive, defensive and combative. His responses: 1.  It isn't necessary to smile or be friendly as he is "not in the customer service industry" 2.  I deserve to be treated with contempt because I had the audacity to come to the store without first making an appointment 3.  He is entitled to behave any was he sees fit, voicing his disdain for despicable level of pool customers here in Florida I appreciate reading how Cliff's tout their high praise and they state their customer satisfaction levels for excellent customer service and professionalism. This team is amazing and exceeded my expectations. I put new travertine tile over an existing cracked and discolored cement deck and coping. Also had to remove the existing diamond brite because it was very old and damaged so the pool interior was completely replaced and new "Cliffs Blue" was my choice. I really can't say enough about the quality and care of the work, the communication between different members, the follow up between each step and once work started how quickly it was completed. And finally the first visit with CJ and his obvious knowledge and quick turnaround in a quote. As far as I am concerned they earned every penny for this job. read more

I'd give 5 but here's why only 2. So you read it. First, they are great. The quality is great. However, I was warned about their numerous addendums and project price $$ increase after initiating a project with them. Simple things like $450 for a pump if it rains too much. Well, it's Florida. It's probably going to rain. As a customer, give me exposure to this, don't slap it on later and bully me into paying it OR ELSE the project will stall. They will literally stop a project if you don't sign the addendum. This is common for Cliff's and thankfully other companies and former employees made me aware. Other things do pop up that the estimator overlooks. They put in a more expensive light (by accident). I didn't care. But I wasn't paying for it. They had someone come to remove it. Which is odd. They can't reuse the light. I know this because I manufacturer lights and the employee confirmed this with me. But if a customer isn't paying for it, you're not getting it. Even if it costs them double money to take out. On the good side, office is incredibly responsive. Geri was my point of contact. Can't say enough good things about her. Tom is great. And the entire staff that came to my home was clean, professional, friendly and insightful. They took on a project that another contractor was taking too long to finish. Cliff's was about 30% more in price and a lot of the work was complete, but they got it done. That's all I wanted. Ross is a great option. They've done other pools for me. I wanted to test out Cliff's. My only hesitation on using them again is the numerous addendums. (I'm response to Cliff's response, #1 the contractor didn't abandon the job. I fired him for taking 3 months to do the job. He was my pool service for 35 years. As you will see in Cliff's response - he also notes only 2 addendums ... this is because I pushed back on the additional 4 the company was trying to pose on me. This review should remain live as it is complete honest exposure to this company for future clients. I've noted Cliff's work is great, so are his people. But obviously, he is well aware of the way he does business, estimates low and then adds addendums when the job is in motion. Customers need visibility to this.) read more

Let me start that I started early November (8th) to look for a heat pump pool heater ..... I was informed what type etc which was great... I was then sent an approval to pay 4000.00 to "order" the heater.... I called them back and said I needed someone to do the entire job.... Install heater.. Pour pad .... Electrical... They said no problem... First week of December now and said I have not heard from anyone and would like it for Christmas since we were having company.... Call after call..... Finally nope can't do before Christmas ..... Well here it is the 10th of January and calling them again to see what is happening.. The good part.... Warm weather is coming....I hired a new company who is glad for my business... STAY away from Cliffs.... They are just like the other review stated... I really have NO idea why the have a good BBB rating.. Update.... it appears they only want 50 percent deposit but owner calls after review posts to try to correct which is fine ... and have me understand where the error was.... and says they don't do electrical but yet I have a voicemail from the office staff that says that they are trying to get an electrician out since I wanted them to do the entire job??? We had our pool resurfaced along with having out pool deck redone. Cliff's did an excellent job on both and worked with us to get exactly what we needed and even had someone working on a Sunday. Cliff's completed a resurfacing job back in February 2021. Overall the job was "fine", not great. Pool definitely looks better than it did before. However, we paid a little extra for their "krystal blue" color since their pictures showed a very beautiful, bright blue. While the end product was nice, it was not the level of brightness that they led us to believe, so on that front we felt a bit misled. Also, we would've appreciated a heads up that we should cover our patio furniture. After completion, it took a while to clean everything up. At no point before the project began did anyone mention the incredible amount of dust that would be left behind which we'd be responsible to clean up. Even with all that said, though, that's not why I'm giving a 1 star review. There were 2 separate issues I brought to their attention after the project was completed: 1) pool light stopped working after they completed the job. It was a brand new light that had been installed about 1 week before Cliff's began their job. The pool company that installed it advised that there was evident damage to the socket as a result to the light being mishandled during the renovation. ($350 to replace the light) 2) A separate electrical issue that per the electrician was caused by bad equipment used by Cliff's. This equipment issue was known by the workers beforehand and didn't tell me so I needlessly spent about $180 for the electrician to come out. If the crew had simply advised me that the circuit breaker issue was a normal occurrence, I would not have called the electrician. I had told the crew the day before that I was thinking of calling an electrician and they thought it was a good idea. After multiple calls/emails from me, it took Cliff's 7 months, yes 7 MONTHS, to address the issues. And I waited all that time just for them to tell me that they're not responsible for either problem. For the pool light, they put all the blame on the person installing it. For the electrical issue, they said the electrician lied in his assessment and it wasn't Cliff's fault. So after spending nearly $12,000 on the renovation, they were unwilling to provide any concessions, except for 1 month of free pool service (and why on earth would I want them to do more work on my pool after going through all that??). It's apparent that Cliff's has terrible response times to issues brought on by their customers. Also, they will bend over backwards to avoid any liability. I have since found many bad reviews on community pages on Facebook with people experiencing similar problems with Cliff's avoiding making customers whole on problems they created. I really wish I had seen all that prior to having them work on my pool. After writing a couple reviews on other sites, the owner contacted me and offered to pay for the electrician's bill (the previous manager I had spoken to a month prior had insisted that I could not escalate the issue any further). However, they'd only provide the refund if I removed my negative review. I said I would MODIFY my review based on the latest conversations, but that I would still note that issue with the pool light, as well as the incredibly poor response time. At that point Cliff's took the refund off the table completely, and claimed that I was "cyber bullying". They then proceeded to respond to my online reviews by calling me a liar. The irony there is that in their response, THEY lied by saying they were very responsive to my complaints (again, it took 7 months to get any type of response from them). Nothing I have said is a lie. I have written invoices from both the pool company and the electrician with their assessment that Cliff's actions/equipment were responsible for the issues. My reviews simply relayed what was on those invoices. If they have a problem with that, then their issue is with those companies, not with me. It was incredibly insulting that Cliff's would call me a liar online. read more

I would have rated them five stars BUT their customer service needs improvement. The resurfacing and tile on the pool was great, the concrete overlay has been nothing but frustrating, my biggest complaint is "no attention to detail". I am still waiting for a call to schedule minor details to be addressed. My recommendation is do not pay fully UNTIL you look over the job and address the issues. We made the mistake of paying in full without the walk through. I will say the person who did our work has always been very cordial and professional BUT we are still waiting for a call to schedule someone to come out and fix the problem. No one has followed up with us in weeks! I hate to nag shouldn't have to be in this position. Disappointing! read more

STAY FAR AWAY... I called these folks for an estimate on some reconstructive pool repairs... Had to call twice to get a call back and appt...then ? NO SHOW NO CALL. Did show up 2 days later with a BS excuse about "losing" the note. Not only was the estimate the highest of 3...they lied several times about what was needed and costs. Example...The in pool light worked perfectly and the bulbs and gaskets were changed only 6 months prior...they told me in order to guarantee unrelated work they would have to swap out the bulbs and gaskets for $300.00 Last time we did it the guy charged $50.00...parts and labor. Then they told us they don't take credit cards because too many people complain and file with the card company. WHAT ? Telling me too many people complain ?? WOW...do these fools know what they told me? Call a reliable and honest company...NOT THIS ONE. read more

I waited almost a year to write this review. I hate writing bad reviews and I really do all in my power to avoid writing them. However, I think people should know. Our end result was in deed a gorgeous pool. So, I will say they did an amazing job at the pool and the stamped concrete. Here is where it went wrong... Before we did the pool we re-screened the entire screened in pool areal. It was all brand new screens top to bottom. When they Sand Blasted the concrete (I am not sure that is the correct wording they destroyed the screens on my screen enclosure. They refused to compensate me for that and I found them really difficult to deal with throughout the journey. I found them to be petty and cheap. We paid a lot of money and we are happy with our pool, however, the customer service was horrible. We were told things would be done that could not be done. We waited days for replies. I called so many times and had to speak with Cliff the owner. He was nice and said he was sorry a lot. However, the icing on the cake for me was 3 things.. 1. The team they had here was so sloppy. Our brick pathways going into our yard were destroyed. I sent Cliff the photos, they did not seem to care. It had dried stains of concrete on them. 2. Our brand new Screen enclosure has to be replaced in certain parts. It was literally maybe 2 weeks old and we cannot see through it. This was 100% due to the team working for Cliffs Pools. I even had my General Contractor put down in writing that they saw them blasting the screen with whatever they were doing. They did not care. They told me I should have done the screen "AFTER" the pool. 3. The day the stamped Concrete went down, the person who did it was backing out of my driveway, he waved goodbye to me. He saw me. At NO point did he roll down his window and say "The pavers are drying do NOT go back there" At no point did he say "I am going to Lunch while your pavers dry, DO NOT GO BACK THERE" I assumed he was gone for the day. He left both screen doors WIDE OPEN and he left NO barricade. My dogs walked on it. Cliffs made me pay for the deck to be redone and Cliff himself screamed at me during this confrontation. Granted they split the bill with me but why on earth did they not put cones there? This was honestly a shocker for us. 4. Again, my end result was a beautiful pool. I can't say I don't love the work they did. However, I can say that the journey getting there could have been much better and I decided to write this review now because I saw their ad in the magazine as I was looking for a company to come out and re-screen my pool enclosure. read more

Yep the company has good rating now cause people are concern with the price or how do it cheap so the can sell or flip the house..let's see what happens over time too there work, They have a box on there professional printed work orders that gets check stating tile over tile.. Our pool renovation took 5 weeks. We put in travertine pavers and resurfaced our pool with new tile. The Cliff's team was pleasant to work with and we have a beautiful quality product in the end. While we had many issues to be addressed because it's a 20 year old property, the Cliffs team worked with us. I will say there is room for improvement on their part as far as order of operations and communication. We are very happy with our end result! read more

When my wife Barbara and I were planning to have our pool resurfaced we contacted three companies. One was a local company in our town. One was the company that does our monthly pool service and the third was Cliff's Pools. We went to Cliff's showroom and we were greeted very warmly by the staff. We met with Cliff Freyman Sr. who was a really nice guy. He was also the person who had originally come out to survey our pool and when he was at our home, he discovered an underlying problem with our pool that was not detected by the other two companies. We decided to contract with Cliff's pools and I have to tell you that we are very happy that we did. Everyone that was involved in our project was great to deal with. Starting with Yanio Alfonso and his wife who spent several days preparing our pool and removing our old coping, installing the new coping, etc. After they had finished, Jorge Macuilatl and his crew completed the resurfacing of our pool using the exclusive Cliff's Choice blue finish. The additional cost for this finish was well worth the expense because the color of our pool water is gorgeous. During the process Tom Samano who is the supervisor came out to make sure that the work was being done properly and to our satisfaction. For the next thirty days, Steve came at regular intervals to make sure that all of our chemicals were perfectly balanced. Everyone in the office including Nancy, Lynn and the others were always a pleasure to deal with and kept me informed as to the process all along the way. Although Cliff's Pools may not be the least expensive company doing this type of work, it is my honest opinion that they are the "best". I would highly recommend them to anyone who is contemplating having any work done on a pool. read more

The job went very well and I am totally pleased with the results. Oscar was fantastic. He was punctual, courteous, and paid attention to details. He explained to me that the merging of the new and old surfaces would not be a perfect match and he managed my expectations very well in that regard.
