We just finished our pool renovation using Sun Blue Pools and had a great experience. We heard of the horror stories that people had with pool contractors in the past and I was kind of apprehensive with starting such a big project. We decided to do a complete renovation, new diamond brite, new decking, a sun shelf addition and a relocation of our pool pump system. We have had multiple quotes, from multiple companies, but we made our final decision based of positive referrals. We were told that the job would start within 2 weeks of signing the contract and that the job would take 4-6 weeks to be completed and swimmable. This was partially incorrect, as the job started immediately and completed under 4 weeks. We were impressed with the craftsmanship with the team at Sun Blue. They made the experience very low stress. We've had bad experiences in the past on projects where the contractors never kept us in the loop with the status of the work being done, but Sun Blue kept us informed every step of the way. It was refreshing to get daily phone calls from their team letting us know the schedule for the day or following days. We had workers on site practically everyday and if they weren't, we were told in advance. This practice is what every homeowner looks for in a company. When the job was completed, one of the owners came by for a final walkthrough to see if we had any issues before receiving the final payment. In prior experiences, the final payment meant that if there were any future issues that the contractors wouldn't pick up the phone or return phone calls once they got paid. Not Sun Blue. We've been in contact with one of the owners, Alan, a couple times since and he's even stopped by a couple of times to consult with us on a couple of issues, none directly related with their work. That is why they came so highly recommended and it is why they deserve a 5 star rating. I used Sun Blue Pools and I can say that no one can be 100% satisfied with any company. Eric, the person I signed the contract with, was very nice and knowledgeable. My concern was that I was loosing water and one area of about 6 x6 inches of rust appearing at the bottom of my pool. I believed the rust was coming from the rusted rebar. Eric example that they would cut the rebar and apply a special material to allow the newly refinishing material to bond. Approximately two weeks go by when Allen (supervisor) over seeing the remodeling of my pool came by to introduce himself and look at the pool. I explained to him about of concerns, at that point he informed me that the vacuum line and the pool returns need to be extended because they would be to short after the replastering of the pool walls. (total of 9 @ a cost of $95.00 each) Make sure you read every line of your contract. In the contract Eric wrote, that returns and vac line extensions are not included and can only be determined if needed at prep. How funny is that Allen was able to determine that before prep. Another way of making extra money. That was the last time I saw Allen on the job to over see any of the work his crew had done. The only contact was done by me to let him know what was done and not done, to what Eric verbally had explained to me. (Ex: cutting out the rusted rebar that was causing the rust, the crew who was doing the prep never did it.) Had to be there at every stage of the remodeling. They finally came out to remove two pieces (approx. 4 inch each) There are hick-ups with any project that you do and deal with contractors but I must say that every phone call I made, and concerns were resolved. Special thanks to a "special lady" Violetta who was always there to hear my concerns and very understanding. Nickolas the "leak expert" the nicest person you want to meet. (pool skimmer flapper keeps coming off) Thanks also to Allen, even though when the job was completed didn't do a final walk through to see if I had any issues. We hired SunBlue to resurface our pool with Diamond brite, replace the pool tile, redesign our entry steps to create a more spacious series of steps and a lounging bench with umbrella holders. They also replaced our old original pool coping (think early 1970's era) and install a bullnose concrete paver and matching 30mm overlay paver on top of our multi-material deck. They finished the pavers today as the pool was done earlier due to materials procurement issues outside their control. The final product is fantastic! The workmanship and care was evident in each step. All these varied specialists/tradespeople have been working as a group for typically 10-12 years! Most importantly, it shows in their product. Their pricing was competitive and they are true to their promise to get it done and done right. We had lots of meaningful communication and they worked extremely hard to keep us satisfied customers. Spoiler alert . . . yet another five star review of Sun Blue Pools. This is a very long review of my experience with Sun Blue Pools as I want to provide helpful and honest feedback to those looking at remodeling/resurfacing their pool and also as a way to thank the wonderful people at Sun Blue. Like many, I had heard horror stories from neighbors and friends concerning their pool remodel. Either the costs seem to escalate once under contract and/or the timetable and scheduling was never met. After multiple bids, I decided to go with Sun Blue Pools, and cannot imagine a better experience. Sun Blue was always transparent about pricing and scheduling was better than I could have ever hoped. I first met with Paul to discuss our vision for the pool. He was patient, responsive and helped us quickly decide on the materials that fit our needs. He never tried to convince us to buy the more expensive product and indeed, I always felt with Sun Blue that their one goal is to give you the best product for your needs at the best cost. Once we were under contract, I was amazed when I heard from from Christina that our project which was initially slated for mid-February was going to start weeks in advance! Our project manager was Alan. I cannot imagine a better person to work with. He walked me through the process, products and gave me his best advice on how we could implement our vision. I have now met with Alan on several occasion, and each time, Alan would come to the house to make sure that everything was going according to plan. If there was ever a problem, Alan fixed it immediately. I came to view Alan as a friend who was always there if I needed something. The Sun Blue crews are unsung heroes--they work very fast, very efficiently and I could not have been happier with their work. Bruno and Gil are fantastic to work with and incredibly knowledgeable. Watching Gil install the mechanicals is something else. We have continued on with Bruno and his company for our weekly pool maintenance. On several occasions, we decided to make changes to our plan (increasing the square footage of travertine and installing new mechanicals), and we were always provided estimates asap to assist us whether to move forward or not. One hallmark of Sun Blue is that everyone gets back to you asap whether email, text or voice. I cannot tell you how many times at 7:30 in the morning I would hear from Paul or Alan on an issue I had just texted them about. They are incredibly responsive to customers before during and most importantly even after the completion of your pool project. Much of a pool remodel is to personal taste, but one feature we added that I cannot recommend enough is the Pentair EasyTouch Connect system. It allows you to control the pump, lights, heater and water feature from your phone. It replaces separate mechanical interfaces and provides you complete control over your pool. It is a must have from my perspective. In conclusion, I cannot imagine working with a better group of people than Paul, Alan, Christina and Mike. I have done several home remodels over the years, and this was one of the best experiences ever. As someone that uses his pool every day, the work that they performed has significant added value to my, and my family's, life. If I could, I would give them six stars as rarely do you work with a company and a group of people that are this customer-oriented. We could not be happier that we found Sun Blue Pool Services to transform our tired pool and patio into our personal piece of paradise in South Florida. At the heart of our plan was the creation of a waterfall wall to stand in front of our newly ordered hot tub. We also wanted a rich blue pool plaster. Sun Blue was up for all of the challenges. Alan secured the gorgeous Capri blue for our pool plaster in a time when many colors were simply unavailable because of Covid. His team was also able to find the perfect rainfall waterfall for us. The sound of water dropping like rain into the pool creates a soothing soundscape that is very important to us. We had our hearts set on this style rather than the more common sheer descent waterfall. Sun Blue gave us that perfect "white noise" against the outside world. The crews came on time and were highly skilled. Problems that came up were promptly dealt with. There was solid communication and a true effort to exceed our expectations. We ended up needing a repair with our pool beam, resurface, tile and replace a dated glass block water fall. There were over 9 different companies that we solicited to come out to do this project. Every estimate was different of course from being way overpriced to simply not being knowledgeable when we asked all of the questions we had. We met with Paul & Alan from Sun Blue pools. It was clear during this meeting that this was going to be the company to use. Paul answered every question we had during our meeting. We even discussed some of the other work that was being discussed from the other companies and it was very clear that none of that was needed. Those answers sealed the deal as many other companies probably would have simply said yes to the additional money to the job. Then there was the follow up that happened. Paul had an estimate in my email before we even got to the kitchen. Keep in mind that out of the 9 companies in total, this was the first one over the three day span that had their estimate sent over to us. It's great to see that there is a company that said they would have an estimate sent that day and it happened. The numbers were beyond fair and straight forward. Alan and his crew started the job and we couldn't have been more pleased during the project. There was no additional calls made to us with the famous add on money that is pretty usual from contractors. Everyone that was here doing various jobs were absolutely the most professional and polite people we have ever met. Alan kept us in the loop with everything that was happening from day one and the project stayed on track with the timeline. The project was completed on time and looked fantastic!! Come by and see the job they did. I thought they sent the third string to do my whole backyard, I think this was the workers first job. Great to be a single woman! They took me to shop to pick what I wanted around the pool, I picked out a light large Porcelaine tile- they installed cheap travertine tiles. Very uneven, my backyard is wavy also. The waterline tiles are soo uneven some more forward, crooked grey and white climbs all over floor and tiles,laddder all dirt and cement all over. Did not use diamond brite. I was told a color and basically got white uneven cheap rough " diamond brite" , some other cheap flooring, broke my cleaner,salt system, spa..I wanted just to heat spa,they made me buy a $4500. 128 BTU for small hot tub. Started out below 90 BTU. I took 5-6 hours to heat our little spa. Found out 3 jets don't push out water! 3 push out, 3 suck in? Left old tiles and put tiles over. Broken pipe his people did not find. I called Red Rhino. They did many test and pin pointed the leak where my old tiles were cutting into the pipe. There guys guessed- I heard them talking. I purchased a new ladder, it took 2 days I stlll have not received my ladder to my spa since last year? They put holes , metal cups and loose pavers last year, no ladder. They sent some guys to check what I had issues, their people told me it basically has to be done again. It can't be fixed. He didn't really clean tiles or ladder and shook his head. Their people were shocked. I have called other companies- basically it's mess. I've had guest plus myself tripped on uneven pavers several times, torn meniscus! Very very disappointed. What I paid to them, they should have taken pictures. Pavers around doors are cut terrible and they way they finished it along the fence, concrete splashed all over and sandy dirt still draining and in the skimmers. Money.
