Preakness Hills is an absolutely beautiful country club that we came to for a wedding (rehearsal…read moredinner actually) this summer. Even the hedges, entry gate, and valet spot were beautiful. The rehearsal dinner was held in the outdoor clubhouse (not sure what else to call it) near the pool as well as around the pool. The bar was stocked with top-shelf liquor while well-adorned tables dotted the space. Across from the bar were a number of food stations - sushi, noodles, Peking duck quesadillas, the list goes on. Near the pool were two large grills, one making various kebabs and chicken (it didn't seem to be the most popular among the guests) while the other was serving up sliders and pulled pork. It was seriously the best wedding food I've ever had in my life. I've been to a number of weddings and rehearsal dinners at coveted event spaces with highly-regarded caterers, and the food here was just top-notch. The weather fortunately held up because the quasi-outdoor space would've been a bit more crowded to mingle in had it been raining. Speeches were given with a beautiful sunset in the background (the audio system worked perfectly). We obviously didn't get a chance to check out the golf course, but at first glance (from the driveway) it looked very nice. IF, emphasis on if, I ever get married, this is exactly the type of space I'd like for my rehearsal dinner to be at.

The Falls plunges 77' feet and is 300' wide,. It is the second most powerful falls East of the Mississippi River. In the last three years the Great Falls has become a National Park. With money coming from the Federal Government improvements have been made. A new cement viewing area has been constructed, as well as, a foot bridge over the Falls which affords a grand view of the Passaic River plunging over the Basalt rock formation. The Falls area was a site of fishing for the Lenni Lenape Indians but it was not until 1792 when Alexander Hamilton visited the site and returned to Congress to promote it as a potential industrial hub for a fledgling country that the Falls area began to develop. The Falls powered such industries as "silk and textiles", gun manufacturing "Colt 45", and locomotive construction (Rogers Locomotives which helped build the Panama Canal). Ranger tours are available (Wed-Sun) by appointment. When visiting the Falls consider visiting the Paterson Museum ($2 donation) and the Muth Museum (Free) which are only a short walk from the Falls.
