I had high hopes for this company and initially believed they deserved a 5-star rating, but I ended up feeling like I was manipulated into a purchase with good "sales tactics" so that is why I gave 2-stars instead. I spent two months shopping around for a new AC unit after my upstairs unit broke durning this horrible heat wave. I was taking my time because It is such a big purchase and I wanted to get right company and of course right price. It wasn't until downstairs unit broke that pushed us to get new AC quickly. I Had meticulously been gathering quotes from 5 companies to ensure I made the right choice. I was looking for a honest company who valued customers to give good service. Ricardo's knowledge and charm convinced me Climate Care was the company I was hoping for; however, I think I made a mistake and should have asked more questions before going with them. He inspected old units to see if they were repairable. Upstairs was big repair but luckily downstairs was easy fix and he replaced capacitor so we could at least have 1 unit work but we knew units were 20 years old and needed to be replaced. What impressed me was the gesture of him trying to help it felt so refreshing so by the end of the consultation I locked in installation and paid in full. Sadly we encountered issues even before installation but I still felt this was a valued company so I stuck with company thinking they genuinely cared about their customers so we are in good hands. The problems started within hour when I was advised I had been quoted incorrectly. I paid in full thinking quote covered both new units, installation, permits, sealing our ducts and even a home purifier. Other quotes added a whole house fan without us even knowing it was added to quote but until Ricardo educated us on differences we had no idea the value of whole house fan vs purifier and none of the other companies took time to see if we wanted fan they just added in quote. My family has health issues and fan was bad idea for someone with allergies and asthma so another reason Ricardo stood out! Despite the price being $2500 higher than my alternative option, which offered the exact same services, I chose Climate Care, confident that they justified the additional expense because of quality. Then came the 1st shock within hour of paying in full: a call requesting an additional $2k for permits due to a misquote. Confused because I thoughts permits were the law not options , I spent all weekend trying to consult with local realtors and the city to see if I could save that money and finally discovered permits were optional, merely verifying the installation quality and since I felt I went with such a prestigious company I wasn't worried about quality. I felt so comfortable with the team that I decided against paying the extra $2k for permits. Despite a few hiccups, Joel and Poncho did an excellent job with the installation. Just for their work I would give 5-stars even with issues with install and not having new unit work after day 1. Apparently our plug was blown which was only reason nothing was working. He fixed plug the next day but found out our old units weren't broken after all and all we needed was a new plug this whole time! Such a easy fix that none of the 6 companies that came out found. instead of buying new units we could have just fixed a $10 plug but oh well at least Joel found issue and fixed. My disappointment grew though when I realized the so-called "home purifier" that was added instead of getting a "whole-house fan" was only for upstairs instead of the whole house. If I wanted whole house that would be another $2k. It's frustrating how companies manipulate words to trap customers, leaving us feeling cornered and thinking we are getting the obvious. Why would I ever think home purifier is only to half house! How is that beneficial or logical. I hope I didn't make a mistake choosing this company. If I've learned anything, it's the importance of getting clear details from the company about everything even , down to the smallest features included. Even things you think might be obvious. Our hard-earned money shouldn't be swayed by clever wording that leaves us feeling uneasy. Just some advice to others... ask more questions even when you think it is obvious answers. I've been using Climate Care for a couple years now for my air conditioner. I met with Chris Hayes when I first called out for service. He did a miracle for me and got my air conditioner up and running. Although he did recommend to me that my unit was 21 years old, and that I may need one on my next visit. Sure enough I needed one couple years later. Chris was soo courteous and very knowledgeable about everything that I asked. Long story short, I did have to purchase a new air conditioner. The good thing was that he said he would get it all done the next day. Yes, it was installed the next day first thing in the morning. I called four different companies, and none could come help for a few days due to the holiday. This company's prices are crazy. Shop around before you have them do any work. It took them 5 days to get the part, replaced it in 5', charged us $69 for the diagnosis, and a $498 flat rate for replacing the part. When we called them the temperatures were around 108 and higher but didn't rush the order for the part even when we requested that. For the $498 rate, you think they would go all the way to offer the best service. read more

Thanks Juan, Alan and Tim for help with our AC this week. Our AC and furnace was installed by climate care three years ago. Alan was part of that installation as well. Recently our dampers conked out due to age. Juan came on short notice over the weekend to make that diagnosis and to thankfully do a workaround so that we could have air until the damper replacement on Wednesday. Alan and Tim were here all day Wednesday because the job turned out to be a bit more difficult due to the layout of our attic space. This is the middle of the crazy heatwave and spending a day doing hard work in an attic cannot be fun, but they were nothing but courteous and professional. Climate Care gave me a quote for a Whole House Fan that was by far the most expensive when compared to other companies. The technician was friendly at first, but was very insistent my wife be present before discussing prices. I told him she wasn't available and he again refused to discuss pricing and said he would come back later. I agreed to pull my wife away from my kids school work and we then got to quote pricing. I think his sales tactic was to get women to pressure their husbands into just accepting the quote, but I don't know. Again, it was the most expensive (by at least $800-$1000) quote I had gotten. The technician also was very insistent I replace my entire AC unit, which I quickly shot down. After discussing the price, the technician wanted to schedule my work, and I again reminded him I was only gathering quotes and since he was the first quote, I was not prepared to hire. As soon as the technician heard that, he slammed his binders/notepads closed, quasi-stormed out of my living room and told me to call when I was ready. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. It was like my 6 year old throwing a temper tantrum After the technician stormed out, I realized he didn't leave any of the quote paperwork behind. I then tried to email the company using the email address from the website, and my email was returned "undeliverable." I then called Climate Care and told them their technician stormed out without leaving the quote and I asked them to email the quote, which they agreed to do. THEY NEVER DID. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Secondly ,Chris our service tech did a great job at explaining what the best HVAC complete unit that we would need and he did not pressure us at all to buy something that was not needed. He also gave us a free "Quiet Cool" unit with our system and that is worth $3000 alone in the end we were very happy with the service. Gerardo the owner personally called me and explained a few things to me that I was not familiar with and that was a blessing. Last but not least, the installers Marcos and Salvador.. We had a new system put in fairly recently and had our first free visit for six month check in last week. Prior to this visit we had to have multiple things done by climate care's technicians to pass on the permit. One visit that took about 12 hours to complete and no one mentioned to me that it was going to take that long whatsoever so I was stuck at home the entire time when I really couldn't afford to. The next item involved removing out all of our vent covers and sealing them with tape. While I know this is uncomfortable labor, every single vent has tape sticking out and was not cleanly done which means I will be spending a ton of time fixing that myself before I paint. I'm wondering why these things were not done initially, since they needed to be done to pass inspection. During the visit, the technician told me " because you are a VIP customer I am doing XYZ." But halfway through the visit that went away and was replaced by " the other technicians don't do this I am going above and beyond." OK? So which is it? Is it service that I should expect or only service if you were doing it? At the end of the visit I felt really pressured into needing to replace all of my duct work (at 8k, btw!) I said no thank you, like my wife would go for that.. but he was insistent to "make sure to call me, whatever payment you need we will do, here's my personal number." Just really pushy and I absolutely didn't care for that. So once he knew we weren't doing it, he asked for a review. I really do love giving reviews for great service. But when you're insistent about making sure, I know you went above and beyond for me that really irritates me. Go above and beyond because you have pride in your work, but don't make someone pressured into thinking you're only doing it to get them to write a review. Also, don't tell them you're doing something because they are a VIP customer and then change your tune. The new AC system that we received to be honest doesn't work a whole lot better than the one that they said we had to replace. You've got a really great sales person and unfortunately I think a lot of people are getting scammed into replacing their systems. Based on the various experiences I've had to deal with this company. I won't be doing business with them anymore. Too much wasted time and steps that they should have taken initially. I would write more, but I've got to go fix all the tape work, and all the scratches on my ceiling from the razor blade cutting the vents off... read more
