He assured me that he had worked on several homes in Communication Hills and was familiar with what the HOA requires. After completing the service, he requested cash payment, which I provided. However, I did not receive an invoice until I followed up a few days later. The document he eventually sent was a basic Square receipt that did not include key required details such as: - Property address where the service was performed - Company name and contact information - Description of the service provided As a result, the HOA declined the submission and did not grant the cleaning credit. When I reached out to Joey to explain that this was an HOA requirement--not a personal preference--he became frustrated and stated that this is the only receipt he provides and that he has never had issues before. He also mentioned he would not invest in tools to generate a more detailed invoice. To clarify, I was not asking for anything complex--just a standard invoice with basic business and service details. It has now been over a month, and I still do not have a compliant invoice. Meanwhile, the HOA has issued penalties for failure to provide proof of service. I am now out $175 and will need to hire another company to redo the service and obtain proper documentation. I'm sharing this so other Communication Hills homeowners are aware: if your HOA requires a detailed invoice, please ensure your service provider can supply one before proceeding with the work.

On average I found it was at least half of what Sierra wanted to charge me. The need: Last winter I had gotten several quotes for replacing my aging furnace and adding AC. Most of the quotes were in the $14k range, with one quote dropping down to the $8k range. These were all homewise quotes (seems to be standard) I just wasn't ready at the time, since I needed my electrical panel replaced. The Draw: Saw the "$20,000? No way." ad on Facebook. Saw other ads saying, "Get it online just by answering a few questions!" Problem is you never get an instant quote. Instead you get someone calling your number in the next few days. I figured it'd be in range of the other quotes. I told the ladies on the phone what I would be looking to pay. Pulling the wool: Well besides no "instant online quote" someone was dispatched to my house. They were pleasant enough, but they kept trying to gaslight me. It's not easy to gaslight me. I know what these things cost from my day career in IT and Facilities work. I've had to get this type of equipment installed several times. I know the approximate cost of materials, labor, and what it *should* cost. The unexpected: Despite all of this expertise the guy sent to my house presented me with an offensively bad quote. They wanted to tear out all of my duct work, replacing it with flex duct. (Just last year it was camera inspected and I was shown it was fine) to the tune of $5,000. The Condenser, air handler, and furnace was $13k (as shown in the quote screenshot) The Gaslighting: This is where things too a big turn. I plainly told him, "We are not at the same place here, I'll have to pass" and I would expect at least some level of negotiation. "Well, I can drop the price to X" Instead it was "It's only $250 a month!" with no explanation of the terms/number of payments. $250@mo for 52 months? $250@mo until the balance is paid? My wife and I both have credit scores in the 800's. We're very good with our finances. "I had a guy quote me $8k last year" was passed off as impossible. No, it's not impossible in the dead of winter when AC installers are starved for work. Dear Reader, just google these components: 1-3 Ton 14.3 SEER2 R-32 single stage condenser unit-Goodman GLXS4BA3610 1-3 Ton 14.3 SEER2 R-32 upflow/horizontal evaporator coil-Aspen DE36D4D175R530 1-80% 60,000 BTU Up flow/horizontal single stage Low Nox gas furnace-Goodman GR9S800604BX Add up the price. It's not $13k. I also question the expertise here, as Low Nox is no longer acceptable for installs. BAAQMB has mandated Ultra Low Nox. Bad price, gaslighting, unnecessary work, and lacked knowledge of local regulations. I dodged a bullet. **Edit** Shortly after this review I got a call from Sierra, arguing over my review. I just hung up, then got a harassing text stating this was over "feelings" before blocking the number. The gist of my experience is there was expectations that were setup by the ads that were not met by the prices, expertise, or lack of professionalism.

There was more than enough room to either move the bed properly, ask if a ladder was available, or simply arrive with the correct equipment in the first place. Using a customer's bed as a tool was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. As for the restroom situation, there is proof of your technician entering and exiting the restroom, and immediately afterward urine was left on the toilet seat and bathroom floor. That mess was not there beforehand. Calling it an "allegation" instead of addressing the concern respectfully is disappointing. I shared my honest experience as a customer. Professionalism is not just about completing a job it's also about respecting someone's home, cleanliness, and basic courtesy while inside it.

I was considering one of them until I spoke with Meigs. He was awesome. He told me he offers free quotes over the phone, but he didn't just give me a quote. He actually tried to help me troubleshoot the issue right then and there. He spent about 10 minutes on the phone with me, calmly walking me through step-by-step instructions. He suggested there might be another GFCI hidden somewhere else in the house or even in the garage. The garage hadn't even crossed my mind, but it made sense since the restrooms are closer to that side of the house. Since we don't live at the property, I wasn't there at the time to test it. I told him we'd try it when we were back there later in the week. I must've sounded a little flustered because he kindly said, "When you get there, call me if you need me," offering to walk me through everything again if necessary. Sure enough, when we checked the garage, there it was, a GFCI outlet we hadn't noticed before. We reset it, and everything worked like a charm. There was power again in the restrooms downstairs. The owner of that business recommended Sunlight Electrical to fix my system. I spoke with Carlos at Sunlight. He sent out Isaac who seemed very capable. Isaac's assessment was that my system had multiple wiring issues and recommended a service that would require a larger team to complete. He explained why, and I concurred with Isaac's recommendation. Carlos scheduled a larger team to come out the next week. They were led by Jesus, who also seemed quite knowledgeable. Jesus and his team worked diligently for 4 hours. They found more wiring errors as Isaac has predicted. And they found a damaged Tesla MC2 unit on the roof which had cracked. After they completed their repairs, the system started operating better than it ever had before. I estimate that I am now getting an extra 10-15% more power from the solar panels. In addition to providing capable technicians, I really appreciate that Sunlight is so easy to work with. I asked several highly technical questions and always got thoughtful answers. If you want something done a specific way, just ask them. They have such a positive, customer oriented attitude that makes them a pleasure to deal with.

I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. We brought our truck, picked out what we wanted, they helped load it up, and my husband installed them that evening. Win! They do offer delivery and install, through a third party they work with. It was fairly reasonable but we didn't want to wait. Also, you can bring your old appliances back and drop them off. They will recycle them for you. Subtracting one star because the sales person was bad talking the brands they don't carry. With a passion. At the end of the day, even if the brands suck, I'm not a fan of talking negative against the competition. "I don't reccomend it." Or "We don't carry XYZ because we only carry products we can stand behind" would be sufficient.

Star Mechanical was an absolute lifesaver today! I was having electrical issues with my AC, and the condenser wouldn't turn on. I called several local companies, but since it was the Sunday before Memorial Day, everything was closed. Thankfully, I found Star Mechanical through Google reviews and decided to give them a call based on their excellent ratings. Even though they're based in Manteca, they sent a technician out to Turlock just two hours after my call. Shawn, the technician, arrived right on time and was incredibly friendly and professional. I called Star Refrigeration and was hooked up the same day. Ron came by as promised. Was very upfront and honest. Showed me exactly what was wrong with the unit. Didn't push to sell. They were supposed to charge by the quarter of the hour. Ron came 15 minutes early at 545pm. My appointment was at 6pm. He didn't even charge me for the extra 15 minutes. I like how there was no charge for coming by ($45) and labor ($75) if my unit needed repair. Those fee were waived because my fuse and capacitor(??) needed replacing. I had another problem of the a/c not turning on several days after. Ron came by again and didn't push to sell. Only charged me $45 but with the certificate, I saved $20. Overall, I am EXTREMELY SATISFIED. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Shawn from STAR Refrigeration has helped us tremendously when our commercial freezer had broken down last year. He was able to come at short notice and suprisingly the only one available that day. He fixed the compressor in no time and checked everything to make sure it is running as it should be. And the best thing was he came and checked our freezer again(after 6 months) and found that it had accummulated dirt/dust on the machine and just cleaned it with a water pressure. I called Ron on a Saturday afternoon and he showed up only a half hour later. Our A/C had stopped working and he was able to come out and fix the parts that it needed. I did not have to wait for the ordering of the parts which was a plus and he explained to my dad and I how it worked. The only downside is that it was more than I anticipated spending, but none-the-less cheaper than buying a whole new unit. Definitely recommend using this great company again! I was able to get an appointment the same day I call. The owner Shawn came to my house in Manteca and repaired my air conditioning unit. the company I got a free estimate from wanted to charge me $109 for a Schrader valve core which is why I did not go with them for repairs. you can buy a bag of schrader valve core for $10. star refrigeration charged me half of what I would have paid the other company. I have several rentals in Manteca so I need fast, reasonable service I can trust. Star Mechanical meets that criteria. Most recently, I got a call from a tenant who said the A/C comes on but the blower motor does not stop. He was going to the electrical panel to open the breaker.
