Cline's Salon is fantastic! I got married in Columbia, but I live two hours away. I asked my friend who lives in town where I should get my wedding hair done, and she recommended Cline's. Brittany did a beautiful job. She was very patient, asked me what I had in mind, and took her time to fix a lovely up-do! My sister had Brittany fix her hair in a half up-do with long, loose curls, which was elegant as well. The atmosphere of the salon is artsy and laid-back, with high standards of customer service. Tammy has displayed beautiful artwork everywhere, even the ceiling! I did not feel rushed and hectic like I have in other salons. Every time I have been, they offer complimentary coffee, tea, or water. The Aveda products are more natural than many harsher salon chemicals, and you can *smell* and feel the difference. For my budget, the prices at Cline's are moderate to high, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. I have thick, coarse, curly hair, and have had terrible experiences at a few other salons. I am "gun shy" now, but after researching Aveda products and having my wedding hair done at Cline's, I trust them. I drive over two hours to get my hair cut and colored each time. I appreciated how Sophie listened to what I wanted in my hair color, how she suggested several options, and how she followed my selection. I love my new darker color! Sophie carefully recorded my color recipe, and Tammy followed it exactly on my next visit. These stylists really want their customers to leave satisfied with a fresh new hairdo. I moved back to Columbia over 2 years ago and had been driving back to Charlotte getting the best hair color/cuts I've received in all my life....but got tired of my go-to hair expert being so far away...I came across Cline's Salon Vista through a Google search and after having a sense of calming come over me after viewing the website, I was willing to trust Tammy with my hair..(despite there being so many great reviews about ALL the stylist). When I entered the salon, it was very relaxed and I was offered hot tea which was nice. I told Tammy that I was trying to grow my hair out and complained to her about stylist never really understanding what a "trim" is. I knew I was going to love my hair when she finished, but I had no idea I would love it as much as I did. She TRIMMED exactly what I asked her to, no more. My hair looked so amazing. And she just has a way with people, she was so sweet and personable. I left feeling like a princess and very inspired. After so many disappointing experiences with various stylists/salons I gave up two years ago and had my hair cut whenever I was visiting my family in Germany. But after a friend recommended Kristin, I dared to give it another try. So glad I did! Cline's is a funky and sweet location right in the heart of the Vista. The artworks everywhere, the overall atmosphere are just great. But all is nothing compared to the friendliness and hairstylist-genius of Kristin! She spent an HOUR just on re-cutting my hair until I felt it really looked the way I wanted it to. And I think my hair is extremely hard to cut: lots of fine hair with a natural unruly wave. Kristin really sort of sensed how it needs to be treated. She is also a careful cutter - starting off with a moderate shortening, we ended up agreeing on, well, at least 8-10 inches off. Wonderful layers! Best thing perhaps is that Kristin had a bunch of super practical and clever tips for styling my waves into pretty curls, without having to style it for ages. I have changed salons in Columbia a few times in the last 3 years and searched the internet for a best stylist for me. Hoping for the best, I made an appointment with Brittany at Cline's Salon on Gadsden St. in the Vista. I saw photos of the stylists on their website which helped me feel good even before meeting my assigned stylist-Brittany. Pretty and stylish, I knew she would do a great job; I was not disappointed. When I arrived for my appointment, the smiling receptionist greeted me and offered a beverage. Brittany did a great job with cut and color and best of all . . she listened to me during our pre-service consultation. She checked with me periodically on preferences to make sure she did things as I preferred. And. . the shampoo experience was amazing! It included a mini-scalp and neck massage! I am so happy that I went to Cline's Salon and will share my thoughts with lots of friends. In 2013, they do a great job and I highly recommend Brittany. read more

I have been to several Aveda salons before, but needed to switch to one closer to my job downtown. Was able to get an evening appointment within 2 weeks, which is unheard of at other Aveda salons I have tried in the area. That was a pleasant surprise! I am not extremely picky with my hair, because it grows out so fast. It is extremely thick and if I don't like my cut, I usually just pull it back. Well, the hair is coming out of the elastic band from now on! Brittany not only cut my hair wonderfully, the dry and style are the best I have ever had done! Cline's prices are a bit higher than I usually like to pay, but SOOOO worth it! Complete professionals who know what they are doing! So excited to see Brittany again soon for my highlights! PS) You have to make sure to bring money for a tip in cash or check. Can't do tips on credit cards. Just wanted to let you know, because you WILL want to leave a tip! Awesome place! read more

I am a male client and have been for some time at Cline. Brittany does my hair and while most would argue that a guy's haircut is no big deal, it can be if you care about your appearance or have difficult hair to cut. Regardless, Brittany has always not only met but exceeded my expectations in the manner and method in which she cuts my hair. She is extremely solicitous, methodical, and measured in her approach. While the end product is obviously the most important consideration; she and the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. It's quite obviously when you see the client walking out from a visit with Brittany (girl or guy) the result is very impressive - especially the female clientele. The final thing I will say about Brittany and Clines in general is they work with you on short notice if necessary and if not Brittany, I have always had a great cut with the other stylists. read more

Cline's Salon is great and I HIGHLY recommend Sophie. She is my "hair whisperer" and I wouldn't consider trusting my locks with anybody else. I have curly hair which can be hard to tame and a busy life style that doesn't afford a lot of time to spend on it. After talking with Sophie about my needs and wants for a hair style, I allowed her full control. The result has been AMAZING! I actually love my hair now and have embraced my curl. No more bland pony tails for me! Not only am I happy, but I receive compliments all the time. Sophie is professional, fun and takes the time to listen to the client's true wishes. Her talent is evident as she knows what will look good on people and her skills with scissors speak for themselves. You will not be disappointed if you ask for Sophie. I moved to Columbia a few years ago and have scheduled my haircuts around my visits to my parents in Philadelphia since then. Not anymore! :) I went to Cline's for the first time last week and had a wonderful experience with Tammy Cline as my hairdresser. The venue is cute and funky and has beautiful art decor. I was a little nervous about parking in the Vista, but there were plenty of spots open. Tammy asked me a lot of questions about my hairstyle before she started and throughout the haircut to make sure I was pleased. She has been cutting hair for 20 years and did a really terrific job! She made me feel comfortable from the very beginning - we chatted the entire time and she allowed me to try several makeup products at the end of the visit and even gave me a free sample! If you want a hair cut by women who truly love what they do and are so incredibly talented, then you will LOVE Clines. I have been going to Brittany for years and am always so happy with her work, she has GREAT style. I actually moved a few hours away from Columbia but still go back to have her cut my hair! Most of the time I don't know what I want done but Brittany always has great suggestions that fit me and she does a great job of helping me visualize the end result. Brittany has sweet spirit that makes the entire experience really enjoyable...plus her neck massages are to die for! I went to Cline's in the spring when I was in a bind after a box-color nightmare. I called them in such a frantic and they got me in the next morning to help fix my disaster. They were so warm and comforting! My colorist, Ana, walked me through all the possibilities that we could do to fix my color and explained pricing for each. We picked a solution and she got to work. I walked out of there with the most amazing color! I was totally hooked and have been going back to see Ana ever since; cut, color, random blowouts, everything! They are so great and I really recommend this salon to anyone! All of the stylists are so educated and you are definitely in good hands here! read more

I live about 45 minutes from Columbia and get off work around 5pm. I needed an evening appointment but every salon I called said they don't do appointments as late as 6pm. I called Cline's and April offered to stay late and they scheduled my appointment for 6pm. I had highlights and lowlights put in. I'm getting married soon and wanted my hair a certain way for my wedding. April did a fantastic job, I've never had better color. It looks very natural but also very blonde. I am naturally a brunette but have always put highlights in. She stayed very late but I never felt like she was rushing. Cline's is the only salon I will go to for as long as I live in Columbia, SC! It is the perfect place to feel pampered and fresh after a new cut or color. Ana has only ever given me amazing haircuts that get tons of compliments for weeks after my appointment - I even had a stranger ask me who cut my hair, and she ended up making an appointment with Ana that week! Most importantly, I feel like she really listens to what I want and makes sure I have exactly what I want before I walk out of the door. Extremely disappointed. New to Columbia area and had not found a hair dresser yet. Made appointments along with my daughter 15 min apart. She went first and then I was supposed to go next but my stylist was behind 45 minutes and they didn't tell me. By the time I found out it was too late to get my hair done because my daughter was already done and I didn't want her to wait around like I did. No apologies from the stylist at all and she didn't seem to upset and was probably relieved that she could go home early. Will not try them again. read more

I have been coming to Cline's for 6 years now. Once I started USC I needed somebody to go to in Columbia. I am very picky so I needed it to be somebody great and that I trusted! Thankfully I found Kelsey. She is absolutely the best. I trust her to do anything to my hair and have confidence it will be amazing. Was recently visiting the Columbia area for a month and needed a color fix badly. I called Tammy and she recommended Kelsey and I could not have been more happy when I left.
