When I got my new insurance I had to choose a new doctor and Dr. Alcocer with the Spanish Hills Medical group was recommended by my wife's doctor. I was a little worried when I called in mid January to make an appointment and they had to schedule me in mid February. They explained later on that one of the doctors in the group had just retired and that the other doctors had to make up for all those extra patients. They gave me a call the day before to confirm my appointment and told me to come in a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. I arrived 15 minutes early, filled out a stack of paperwork and then waited to be called. They called me in about 5 minutes later. Woah. 5 minutes...that's awesome. I had an awesome nurse who took all my vitals and got me ready for my appointment and then about 5 minutes later I was visited by Dr. Alcocer. He had an amazing demeanor. He seemed like he was not in a rush at all...he acted like he wanted to know everything about me and what he could do to help me with my regular issues like my asthma. He gave me all the prescriptions that I needed with 6 months of refills so I didn't have to worry about waiting for my pharmacy to call in for authorization. That was such a relief from my previous doctor. All in all the whole appointment took maybe 20 minutes, 30 minutes tops. I was completely impressed with the whole experience and I look forward to having the Spanish Hills Medical Group and Dr. Alcocer on my side when it comes to my health. :0)

Alexis Murray is the BEST. She is very attentive, lets you fully explain yourself & your concerns, speaks to you so respectfully, doesn't gaslight you & tries to see things your way so that she can better understand you, & she respects your personal beliefs, & does not come off judgmental nor does she make you feel stupid. Lately we have been going to see Alexis Murray for my son almost once monthly. She is always so patient and detailed with us. She explains herself very well & lets us as parents feel safe enough to ask her many questions & figure out how to go about things in regard to my son's health. She also is so reassuring and makes us feel safe!!! She is a gem there. Astrid is a medical assistant there at Primary Medical and she was also very attentive with son. She made him feel very comfortable and made him laugh. When you have little kids all the little things matter & when they take the extra steps to make sure your child is comfortable it puts us as parents at ease. I, myself have also been seen by Alexis Murray & can attest to a great bedside manner. All in all, I am super happy that my whole family goes to Primary Medical in Oxnard. He not only addressed each point of my previous review, but he answered all of my questions. Rather than call with a patronizing apology, Dr. Kubo clearly put a great deal of thought and consideration into my situation prior to contacting me. It was more than obvious that his goal was to address the root cause of the issue. He was very familiar with the details of my visit, as well as my medical history. He provided explanations, but more importantly recognized his own shortcomings. He recognized that in a busy practice, focus on communication is key. In our conversation, we agreed that my concerns would have been better handled via telephone or a follow-up visit, and he that in the future, he'll communicate more sensitive issues on a more personal level. Having addressed my issues personally, professionally and respectfully, I now feel very comfortable with Dr. Kubo. I feel that he understands me, and I think that's what we all want in a physician. By the end of our call, I was so impressed with how Dr. Kubo approached and handled my situation, that I decided he's the kind of doctor I want on my team. I take my healthcare extremely seriously, and put a lot of time into researching all of my options. I've had to deal with some very complex and serious conditions and diseases over the years, so I take nothing lightly when it comes to finding the right doctors. My mother had a medical urgency come up, so I contacted Dr. Bautistia and made arrangements for a tele-visit as Mom no longer drives and I was not able to get to Camrillow to take her in. He called her on time and gave her his full attention along with some steps to take. When Mom's issue did not clear up in a couple of days, I called again and arranged another tele-visit, only this time I was able to be next to her during the appointment. After speaking with Dr. Bautista, we decided it was best to come into the Fillmore office and have him look at her in person. The location was easy to find, had plenty of parking, and was clean. COVID safety protocols were in place. We were seen shortly after arrival. Mom was treated with respect and listened to by everyone. I only wish I did not live so far away or I may just switch doctors.
