The lab on links in RR is by far the slowest and most inefficient location i've been to. They are always either understaffed, or they just move at snail speed. Sitting in the lobby is like sitting in a high school cafeteria listening to their staff banter, curse, and play around at their leisure. The front desk nurses here are on top of their game. They communicate within each other if questions come up and all help to solve patients questions and needs. It can be difficult to get a recent appointment her, but you can line up to be on a waiting list for when they have time in between scheduled appointments . They have recently changed their hours from 7am to 7:30am to officially open. I arrived a little before 7 to wait in line when I needed labs and there was about 9 people in front of me. You then enter your information on an iPad station and wait for your name to be called. I ended up getting my blood drawn at 8:10 and was out of there a few minutes later. The seating area is pretty large inside the waiting room and very clean. There is a bathroom and water bubblers just down the hall available to you. read more

I went in this morning and I gave them my orders and they drew my blood, 4-5 vials. I get a phone call two hours later saying they needed another vial. They had the orders what they needed, so that took another hour out of my day, not happy. They didn't even apologize for inconveniencing me. read more

Made an appt a week ago for 12:30 today. Showed up at 12:20 and checked in on the screen. All it asked me for was what was I there for (labs) and my name. I then took a seat. 12:50 rolls around and they haven't even called me to check in so I went to the window and asked how far behind they were because I had an appointment at 12:30. They said oh you have an appointment, and checked the screen and told me well you signed in as a walk in. I said I just did whatever the screen asked me to do. The other lady responded saying well there's some people in front of you now so it's going to be an hour wait. I have been going to this location for many years. The wait is typically fairly short the techs are friendly and efficient. Why only 3 stars? Every time I come here it is so slow. I have been here for 2 hours and my name just got called. 2 hours. The office looks full of staff there is no reason for that long of wait. Last time I was here the guy taking my blood asked if i care which arm he drew from and i did, he then asked if he could do the other arm instead of the one i asked him to because he said that one is easier. The blonde lady that works the reception area, was as much help as a hemorrhoid and even told me that my doctor's assistant had called and said I didn't need a blood test, which was not true. Thank goodness I called the doctor's office before I left the CPL. On a more positive note, a different lady took my blood and she was wonderful, I didn't even feel the needle go in. In short, this place has always been quick and easy! I used to go to another location to get labs and would get so tired of waiting so long in the lobby. Walk in and check in by using the tablet on the far left corner then have a seat. They call you up to the front so they can view your lab slip and health insurance card. Then wait for them to call you back. I walked in 12 minutes before they close at 5:00pm and was nervous they may turn me away. Nope! They took my info and I was out of there within 5 minutes and there was another person in the lobby waiting when I got there. I've been using CPL for some time at several locations in the Austin metro area. I don't know many people that look forward to getting labs done, but I can say this is by far the best experience I've had. They moved to a larger suite within Forrest Creek Medical Center which appears to allow them to serve more patients at once, cutting down the wait time significantly. There's probably double the seating than their previous space. I walked in about 10:30am on a Friday, signed in, and was called to the window in less than 5 minutes. Check-in was a breeze, they obtained new copies of insurance, confirmed my info, and had me take a seat. So far, I'm more than pleased with my experience, but it gets better. Not two minutes later, Halee called me back. She impressed the hell out of me. Halee resonated good vibes which ya know on a Friday morning just starts the day off in a good place. But the real kicker is my veins roll like crazy sometimes and I've had several experiences where I've had to be stuck by several different phlebotomists until they strike gold. She came in like consummate professional (or boss if you'd rather) and stuck me on her first attempt like she could have done it in her sleep. Halee effortlessly got through my entire panel without blowing out my vein, and had me on my way in about 5 minutes flat. Long story short, ask for Halee and be kind to these folks, it's not their fault when your orders aren't in their system. Don't shoot the messenger. read more

It took three visits for blood draw. They couldn't find dr fax order. Ordering Dr nurse said CPL always has problems like that. I complained since my time is valuable caring for dementia family member. Today I got blood drawn. They said they were out of butterfly needles for difficult sticks. So, very painful draw involved multiple sticks and digging. My hand is swollen and blue from fingers to half of hand. One stick was not cleaned or covered but patted w a dirty glove. I had a very excellent experience, the other day, at Clinical Pathology Laboratories!! I had blood-work scheduled and the phlebotomist, Olivia, was amazing!! She was kind, attentive, helped in suggesting for me to lie down instead of sitting when drawing blood, as I am prone to fainting. I came in yesterday at about 1/2 hour prior to closing time to get labs drawn per my MD orders. After I signed in and was at the window being checked in the staff noted there were no orders in the system for me. I told them the MD clinic had just called me to clarify I needed several more tests besides the CBC that was drawn earlier that day at another location. The staff could tell I was upset because according to my MD all my lab orders had been entered into the system but for some reason all that was drawn at their other location was the blood for CBC. They worked with me though by taking the lab order over the phone. I have hard veins to draw from but the technician was able to get it on 1st try which was a blessing! I have been waiting for almost an hour and they have still not call me to pay and check in. I understand is a clinical and medical place and they need to take their time to not make any mistakes, but this is ridiculous. In the last hour, just 3 persons were called to go inside. They open at 7:00am. Arrive no later than 6:30 if you need to be somewhere by 8:00, even if that somewhere is in the same building. Once you actually get to the back, the draws are quick and easy. There are 3 staff in front to check people in. I have never seen more than two people at the windows at once, but 50% of the time, nobody is at the window, even though the waiting room is standing room only. The entire process could be expedited by having separate staff available to put stickers on things, since that's 99% of what the check in staff does. You could, quite literally, drive to Austin, get you labs taken, and return to Round Rock in less time. In Rush hour. read more

Got there yesterday before they even opened at 7 am and there was a line out the door. Decided to try again today at 8 am, and there was standing room only. Front staff barely acknowledges you and they obviously don't want to be there. The waiting room is dingy, chairs are cracked and worn. Waited an hour to be called. Finally gave up and drove to another lab. Still had a wait there, but not as bad and the front staff there was welcoming and friendly and the waiting room was clean and comfortable. CPL has gone downhill over the years. Wish they didn't have a monopoly in the area - they need some real competition to hold them accountable. read more

How does a laboratory clinic NOT have the things they need to complete a bloodwork??? Aren't y'all supposed to do inventories of your supplies to ensure you are fully stocked? The older women were no longer there so high turnover. This was my poor sons arm after these psychos got done digging for a vein. They were extreamly rude and blamed it on my son moving. Well he was in extreme pain! That's why he was moving. I even tried to reach out to the manager with no response. Don't bring your kid here if you can help it. I want to give a zero but can't do that. Walk in to check in talk to desk and they say need to sign in on the tablet next to the desk. Ok did it now wait and talk to the same person that said sign in on tablet and she asked same question as the tablet. Had to update address again that was done last month at a different location. The only good part was the tech that did the stick and draw of blood sample was good and I did not feel it when she stuck me and also when she with drawn the needle. Unfortunately, this is a place I frequent. Fortunately, it is pretty pain free both in the waiting room and in the chair where they do the whole needle-in-arm thing. If you walk in and see a full waiting room, do not be discouraged. Things move pretty quickly. Come in, sign in on the tablet and have a seat. They will call you up to make sure nothing has changed regarding your insurance and address and take your lab paperwork. You sit back down and within 5 minutes you are called back. The nurses are quick, friendly and efficient. I have been many times and there was only once where I had to be pricked twice to find a vein. It was my own fault because I was dehydrated. Drink a lot of water before and you will be fine. If you live in the area and have to get lab work done, this is the best place to do it. read more
