I appreciate the fact that they were very knowledgeable and helpful through this whole process and patient as we kept pushing our son's start date back to make sure the military subsidy was approved before we begin. If I had to say something that could use improvement and this is a stretch here, they did tell me that they would be taken more pictures of my son throughout the day, I have received some, but not as many as I thought I would have received, but nonetheless, I do appreciate the pictures they send! I showed the images to my pediatrician and to other people and they were uphauled by what they saw. I could see EACH TOOTH on my daughters leg. This to me is negligence. If you want to know what your child is doing on a daily basis, don't go here. Her first day was great, we got regular updates on the app they provide, but after that if we got ANY update it was alerting us when we dropped off / picked up our child. We even gave them IPADS. Yes, we donated IPADS to the center to just get updates as they said their teachers couldn't do regular updates due to lack of something to do the updates on. Nothing changed. We reached out to the owner as she told us to contact her whenever we have an issue. We had multiple issues we brought to her attention. What was her response to this? We get an email saying your daughter is being removed from the center and that day was her last day. This was ridiculous. I showed the email I sent and the response I got, to multiple people and found it to be unprofessional. Regardless, we have my daughter at another center. The funny thing is we have not one time had to complain and she's been at this one longer. She has learned and developed more and actually cries LEAVING as she has so much fun. The staff turnover is crazy at this location and seem to be bothered when you had questions. My wife dropped off our daughter before to staff members too busy on their phones than to help get my daughter settled. They even had a morning person who my daughter would SCREAM AT THE SIGHT OF. When I brought this to the attention of the owner I was told that person was not a "people person". And they are working around children? Again, you may have different experiences. I would not wish for this place on anybody and the best decision we made was leaving there!

When we toured the school everything looked to be in order the principal Mrs. Scott was very pleasant and had really updated the school over the last few years. The school was organized which my sons other school lacked. The beginning of school was great, orientation new parents learned all the rules of the school and the kids got a chance to meet their teacher and classmates. The week before school started at a meeting with the parents and teachers we found out that the kindergarten class had 28 kids in the class, mouths dropped and you heard a big gasp in the classroom. After the announcement parents started to look around and talk in smaller groups about how we are paying for a private school why are the classes so large. We were told that the classroom can hold up to 30 kids and if 2 more enrolled they would accept them at any time during the school year. This should have been my first red flag clue and I should have run for the hills with my refund check in my back pocket. The class size was so large they had to convert the library into the kindergarten room in order to accommodate everyone. The kindergarten class had 2 teachers in the room so should I say 1 main teacher and 1 aid. The first couple weeks of school went pretty smoothly my son was happy and during well, after those 2 weeks passed that was it his mood had changed. I begin getting phone calls on a daily basis from him teacher saying that he wasn't paying attention and making strange noises in class. This wasn't my kid they were talking about, he had been to school prior and they only thing he would get a note home for is talking to much (he's a chatty boy). The phone calls went on like this for days finally I met with the teacher and the lady really got under my skin saying that maybe there are problems at home that are causing him to behave this way and maybe you should have him speak with a professional. As a parent who has raised your child for 5 1/2 years with no prior problems like this you start to get a little red in the face and want to go on attack mode. I calmly told her thank you for suggestions I'll talk with my son. After a long conversation he told me he was disrupting the class because that was the only way to get the teachers attention. He never got called on to answer questions or write on the smart board for 56 days (the class did calendar every morning so they knew how many days they had been in school). It broke my heart to know that everyday a question was called on and his had would be up he was being picked over. This is a private school with 28 5-6 year olds, after looking at the other classes and talking with the parents it seemed that the class sizes were growing in every classroom and parents were frustrated. Besides the class size the curriculum was sub-par, my son was bringing home work he had done when he was 3 in pre-school. Oh the principal Mrs. Scott was a reputation of dodging parents and avoiding any questions. It's amazing what you find out after you get in the school, just because the wrapping on the outside is pretty doesn't mean the pieces inside aren't broken. I pulled my son from St. John the end of November and moved him into a wonderful Christian school where he has 13 kids in the class and his behavior changed over night. St. John was not a good fit for my family so good luck to you if you sign your child up. Also please ignore your child's teacher when they say he or she may be ADHD, I've been told multiple times those initials get thrown around a lot when a child "acts out" in class.

A teacher had a man that DOES NOT work at the school sitting in the school with her watching her work during after care hours. If there had been a problem would she have been able to hear the emergency? The leader is rude to parents and students. In addition, for many years she has not had a proper board of directors. The board consisted of the founder and two of her relatives. This is a huge conflict of interest reflected in the schools inability to grow and adapt to relevant educational research. The Beddow School is supposed to be a non-profit. However, the school clearly ran in the best interest of the founder as opposed to the organization. Beddow operates like a for-profit business that mostly just benefits the founder. For example, the founder benefits by cutting costs and making staff that should be watching children clean instead. My son was left in a classroom with other students alone. Definitely, not what I signed up for. I am sad that I enrolled my child at this school. The first red flag for me is that the school is not named after someone who is a great educator. It is named after the founder, a shriveling woman that is alive and well. I am a teacher. It is not a career path for people that are self absorbed. Teaching requires a level of humility that puts students in the spotlight, which is why most schools are named for a mission or a person that has already proven themselves (like Mary McLeod Bethune or Maria Montessori). The first sign that the school operates in the interest of the founder is the school's name!

Ms. Simret, Ms. Judy, Ms. Toni, Ms. Genie, and Ms. Vanessa, are all teachers I've had personal experience with and hope Greenwood is doing all they can to keep them there. There was a recent merger with Sunny Days, so hopefully this helps with teacher stability as well. I know Sunny days had teachers who had been with the facility for quite some time. My children learned and thrived while they were here and still talk about Greenwood. Overall, I think it's a great facility with the chance to be greater. Federal employees have preference here with general community members without a child currently enrolled there being last in order preference. They also fill us in on any particulars about our child from that day or the day before. They always seem happy and positive (even when it looks like they've had a long day). One of our favorite things about the school is its diversity. My child's classroom is extremely diverse, and it's one of the main reasons that we picked this school. Additionally, some of the fees are steep but somewhat manageable because you are to break up the payments if the need arises. Summer fees are not really explained especially when you are providing the lunch. Graduation fees are ridiculous since they will not be able to wear the gown again because of size and color. A graduation hat with them wearing white would be more reasonable financially or maybe a program where you give them back and just borrow them for that day. PreK graduation is not essential IMO.
