Solid bowling alley with less than a half dozen lanes and an infinite amount of fun. This no frills bowling alley has everything you need --- - cheap games (1.50 a game... you can't beat that) - free parking - more balls than you could imagine (that's what she said) - cheap drinks - a juke box there are disco lights--- but before sunset this place has got the bright lights ON. played three games and was on my merry way. I dig it.

They got new screens and UIs!

When their lanes have been filled up by leagues they've even called another bowling alley for me to see if there was room there.

Very friendly. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced! Not always the case in GR. We hope to come back and bowl another time!

When you've had a drink or two, it's all just throwing balls and knocking things over. Woodrows Duckpin is the only duckpin bowling alley in Grand Rapids, as far as I can tell. It's a great place to get a drink and knock things over. In fact, you should be aware that you can only get things to drink here -- they don't sell any food. But you're welcome to bring in your own food. We opted to just get beverages (sodas for kids, beer and wine for the adults) and eat elsewhere after we played. You can reserve a lane for an hour at a time. An hour of duckpin bowling was more than enough for me and my family! Games go by quickly, and I think we played three games in about 45 minutes, then peaced-out with 15 minutes left on our tab. (But we had our fun and got our money's worth.) Duckpin bowling uses smaller balls that are more lightweight than regular bowling balls, so it's easier for young kids to play. Think skee ball, but on a slightly larger scale. Honestly, I think I prefer duckpin bowling to regular bowling! It feels more laid-back and less serious. There's a nice lounge in Woodrows Duckpin, which is pleasant to sit in when you're not playing, or if you're waiting for your lane to be ready. Woodrows is also attached to the Amway Grand Plaza, so if you're staying at that hotel, it's just a quick jaunt downstairs.

Great experience at Wengers this past Saturday! I had emailed earlier in the week (which felt too…read morelast minute, in my opinion) to see if they had open lanes on a Saturday night around 7pm - Tyler got back to me super quick and let me know he would get back to me once he was at the bowling alley, I appreciated the heads up. He called me once he was there and confirmed they could accommodate us - score! Once there we were give three lanes downstairs and Tyler and another employee helped us move tables to accommodate our group and get us rolling. Shoes and beer were quickly and efficiently and it was just the two of them! While we were there they guys were on top of any lane issues we had - much more efficient and quick to respond than a typical HUGE bowling alley. Never waited more than a hot second for a beer, either! Tyler and his employee were super helpful, friendly, and accommodating all evening. Wengers is a smaller bowling alley with only 8 lanes downstairs and 8 lanes upstairs, however, I personally like the smaller venue and vibes. Juke box, vending machines, good beer selection, and they do offer some limited food options. The alley is older but clean and well kept. The screens are no frills and easy to use and navigate. The bathrooms are only one stall and small (and right near some tables... like RIGHT next to them lol) but they are very clean. They do offer rentals for a whole floor for parties or events - that's is pretty cool! They have catering options available, as well. All in all a great experience and I will be keeping them in mind for future nights out, events, and get togethers!

Although a bit in the "ghetto" (if you will) this place is a hidden gem! It's totally vintage chic- with two stories and bars on each floor! I love the retro feel and the fun vibes. My friend, Curtis, and I enjoyed a fun night of bowling upstairs. When we arrived, there was a league of sorts taking place downstairs, but upstairs only had two lanes in use. We loved the retro style ball pulleys, and the lanes were in good shape! I had to search for a second "11 lb" upstairs, but that wasn't a big deal. Our bartender, Nick, was patient with us and our song choice (which pertained mostly of Celine Dion) and gave us great drinks. I wish they had a more diverse liquor selection, but I made do. I was thrilled with the quality and volume of their touch tunes machine! Our bar service was on point and I had a lot of fun bowling at Wengers. Reasonably priced in comparison to other bowling alleys around, which is a total bonus!
