A great clock and watch shop, for servicing, repairs, battery changes, and general watch and clock services. This is the shop in our area period. Gary is the man, from his demeanor, to the way he just conducts business, professional, kind and very knowledgeable. Every time, I've been to see him for work there are always people waiting. My most recent visit a battery change out for my Tag, and people were waiting. While he was helping them, he took mine and swapped the battery for me without missing a beat and answered the phone. Anyways, you get the idea, watches or clocks, timepieces new and old, from batteries and straps to complete tech servicings. Gary is brilliant about clocks and watches. My grandfather clock had become a beautiful non functioning piece of furniture after an earthquake tore off a pendulum and froze the the entire works. He came in the morning with a tool kit and lots of tiny parts. He examined my clock, determined what it needed. Manufactured a needed part and in less than 3 hours had my clock keeping time, chiming and striking. He even set thr moon dial and taught me how to set and change the settings. I sent the watch in because the stem had come off. When I got it back, the auto-wind worked perfectly. I realized that the automatic winding pendulum had not worked properly when the watch was new. How can you ask for more than to have something fixed that you didn't know was broken. read more

The owner, is a master clock and watch repair specialist. He is fast and friendly. Gary is fast and efficient. If you have a problem with any watch or clock, he can and will fix it. And very often while you are there. Great little shop but they are located in Arcata near the coop and not in Eureka -- at least that's what I found out when I called to make sure they were open. The gentleman running the business is friendly, priced fair and most likely will get you in and out while you wait. This is my local go to watch repair place. read more

Super place for anything related to timekeeping. Gary always has time to chat while he works, and it's always interesting! On my most recent visit, he showed me a vintage watch he's repairing. It's from the USSR, and the hour and minute hands are intended to depict a lunar eclipse. Perhaps the most interesting aspect is the leather band with a raised photo of Yuri Gargarin, the first person in space! Oh, yeah ... Gary remembers the first watch I brought in several years ago for a new crystal, a vintage Omega Constellation. So he calls me 'Constellation.' Love the guy! You will, too. read more

This guy will clean your clock. No, I don't mean through fisticuffs but rather really clean your clock. I went here for a battery. Done and done. Spent some time talking with Gary. Wow, does he know a lot about clockworks!!! When I return I'll be taking my grandfather's pocket watch and my other grandparents' mantle clock for checkups and repairs. I trust Gary completely. Established in 2000.

Repaired first watch at the age of 7, and have always loved mechanical objects, especially small ones. Over the years, I have veered away from other repairs, and gravitated to clocks & watches. Worked out of my home-shop for 12+ years, but now, as of 2013, primary location in Arcata, CA -- across from the CO-OP, at 924 9th St. 825-8463; open Mon - Fri, 12-5 pm

I gave Gary at Clockworks call to see if he could look at my peepaw's old pocket watches, and he was able to get me in same day. These watches haven't had a heartbeat for at least fifty years but he was able to summon them back to life. He suggested so little a payment request that I was offended. Especially after listening to him the time he was looking at my watches and telling me about the history and the movements and the engineering; things I know little about and was immensably appreciatave to learn. I've been to Clockworks once before to get a battery change, and I had the same service and experience - stepping into his small shop is like stepping into the Tardis, somehow it is so much bigger inside that it looks from the outside. read more
