Brought in items this summer to get appraisals for insurance purposes and 8 routine repairs: 3 new clasps and a ring down-sizing and 2 thrown pave stones. Paid over a thousand for this. I picked up the repairs many weeks later on a day I was leaving town and didn't realize the appraisals were missing. Called & left a message with no reply. Reached them today and I described the woman who took my order and asked the new owners to ask for her & their response was basically well the appraisals were not on your receipt so you are just out of luck. We don't care what you say you were promised. They didn't even ask the employee- who was so nice. I wish I had the option to give them ten stars. I started dealing with a custom jeweler in LA to have a wedding set made and the distance and some of their policies became problematic. My fiancé had Abraxas make me a phenomenal pendant and it occurred to me to contact them. From my initial contact with Kevin on the phone I had a great feeling. It just got better and better. We gave them a design concept and Kevin brought in the most beautiful Ruby I have ever seen (the design centered on this stone) and Micheal was able to create the perfect rendering of our vision. We had given them a budget amount on our initial visit. They turned our dream into an even better reality for about $13,000 less than we had stated. Who in business today does that? Abraxas! Oh, did I mention that Kevin gave us several bonus perks? You'll have to check them out yourselves to find out what. Through the entire design process they were diligent, patient, kind, informative and fun. They explained things to us in ways we could understand, and made sure that we really did understand. The CAD drawings were amazing but the final product was even better. The detail and craftsmanship, the quality of metal and gems are flawless. They got everything done way faster than we expected and my girl has her ring before Christmas when I was hoping it would be Valentines Day at best. It was a no pressure, super fun experience and process. I have never done business with a finer place ever and cannot give them enough praise. It was keeping local at its finest which was where I should have started in the first place (lesson for me). When I left with the rings today I said thank you to friends, that meant a lot to me. Amateur jewelry buyers beware. We were told we were buying an aquamarine ring my Maggie, but we actually bought a crystal that was colored blue. Had I known what I know now about gems I would have passed on the $109 fake Aqua ring. After emailing Kevin ( presumed manager) and leaving a list of details about time spent in the store, things we talked about to jog his memory, he replied: I don't know what your talking about. If Kevin would have shown the slightest interest in making things right I would have continued trying to avoid utilizing social media, bureaus, and warning the world. I will never spend another penny at this store and I hope you do your research before you spend your hard earned dollars at Abraxas. Next stop... Better business bureau to report unfair business practices and deception. read more

This is a lovely store filled with beautiful pieces. I saw some items that I fell in love with, but didn't get them while I was there. I called the store and spoke with Kevin who promptly took my information and mailed them out to me immediately. Great service from Kevin and the girl that worked there on the day that I was there. I had exactly the same interaction as the other reviewer (A.J.) with the owner of the shop (Kevin). He kept trying to sell me the one diamond he had shown me even after i told him it was interested in looking at others. He was very pushy and definitely condescending. I had informed myself pretty well before going in there, and he tried to dissuade me from doing any further research and pushed me to make a quick decision on an engagement ring. When I found diamonds of the same quality elsewhere he seemed to take it personally and all but refused to sell me a setting (jacking the price up to almost double his original quote). He was kind of pushy and kind of a jerk. It's too bad, because if he had been at all reasonable and allowed me to make my own decision, I likely would have bought a ring from him. read more

I walked into Abraxas, without an appointment. Kevin was there. I had an entire bag of estate jewelry-including my mom's wedding set. I didn't have an appointment. He spent hours with us, sorting through and telling us what was valuable and what was not. I had some beautiful pieces such as a brooch and a hat pin that I would personally never wear, but he took my ideas to create earrings and necklaces that were beautiful and I will wear often. I left my mom's ring to get sized, separated and cleaned. It was difficult for me to leave it with a business I really didn't know, but I put my trust in him and he has earned it! He helped me also to think of ideas of how to size it so I could wear it on both hands. The kicker is....I had all my pieces back in 5 days. Incredibly fast and amazingly well done!! I can't possibly provide a concise explanation of the negative experience my fiancee and I had here when we were shopping for engagement rings, but trust me when I say this is the short version. Bottom line for me: I would not recommend this place for engagement/wedding ring shopping. I'm sure its fine if you need to pick up a quick pair of earrings or leather goods for a gift. They have some pretty things. Just get it and get out quick! This is based on interactions with certain people there, not on the quality of the merchandise. My fiancee and I were looking for a loose diamond, a setting in a particular style, and possibly some custom designed work. What we got felt like a "used car salesman" routine. We felt bullied both in-store and via telephone/answering machine, and by the end of it the guy had even yelled at us (I was never sure why). I was so surprised by the behavior of the owner that I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry. We went in with a very clear description of what we wanted, including the price point. The guy would NOT listen, talked over everything we said, kept telling us we didn't know what we wanted and kept trying to sell us the same stuff even after we had said NO multiple times. He was pushing diamonds that were twice as much as we'd said we could afford, and then he ordered out-of-our-price-range diamonds for us to "preview" without our requesting that he do so. THEN he tried to guilt-trip us into buying them. I was shocked. He pulled the "I have other interested buyers" routine when we said we weren't interested, telling us we better grab it quick because someone else wanted the diamonds that he was "holding just for us" (we hadn't asked him to hold anything for us -- or to order anything for us in that style/price range). He called our house repeatedly even after we said we weren't interested and was increasingly hostile. I dunno, maybe he is just over-zealous in the "helping", but it made it impossible to want to work with him. Maybe he really, really needed a sale. I know times are tough but I felt absolutely steamrolled the whole time... It just wasn't what I was expecting from a local shop. read more

Lying rip off artist! My partner and I are getting married in a couple months and I designed a ring using some stones I already had, plus needed to purchase a couple extra. I went and spoke with Kevin and he quoted me a price on two separate designs that we discussed in detail. After making my decision on which design to go with I went in to place the order. Although the price of gold had gone up, I was expecting an increase in price by a couple hundred dollars. No big deal, right? Well, he decided one design was the exact same quote as before and the other design (the one I chose to go with) was increased by $1200.00. He claimed to have not had the conversation with me and denied quoting me the prices discussed. Now, I will not have the desired ring for my wedding. I will never shop there again and I will never again refer him business. read more
