I trusted the design person to create the best design to fill the space. I wish I paid more attention to the design. She didn't use the space below the outlet properly and she said doors could not go on it because they would block entry to the bathroom. So I paid 1000 for a terrible straight up and down BASIC shelf with one door on top. This company is WAY overpriced I strongly recommend you contact The More Space Place they do a much better job for a cheaper price. It was a big mistake to go to a company like this. Lesson learned. I bought two window benches from Closets By Design about three years ago and loved them. They advertise a "lifetime warranty," but here's the rest of the story!! During my recent move, one bench came apart at the seams while being lifted - I personally watched it happen. I have all the pieces, so I called the company to ask if they could reassemble it. They refused, saying the warranty is void because they didn't move the bench. So apparently, I was supposed to hire Closets By Design to transport my furniture between homes for the warranty to count. That's absolutely unreasonable and feels like a loophole to avoid standing behind their product. For the price I paid, I expected better. Great product, extremely disappointing service. So far not a good experience. We are in the middle of a project with them. A woman came out and measured and worked through a design with my wife. She then drafted a contract for what my wife had discussed with her. When the workers came they told my wife they needed to do a different design than what she agreed to. They told her she couldn't do the original design. My wife spoke with the manager Wes who was rude, screamed at her, and belittled her and refused to refund her. She called me at work extremely upset and feeling helpless about the situation. So far, they are not doing what was agreed to and refuse to refund the deposit. Let's see how this plays out and I will update this review as it progresses. When someone agrees to do a job a specific way and then can't deliver, the consumer needs to be protected and be refunded. I wish I had gone with another company. We got a master closet and laundry room done and had issues day one. Both were not installed according to the designers drawing (this communication needs to be improved for the installers) which means that I now have additional holes where there should be none. Within the first day I had door hinges separate from the door, one that almost fell on my head. I had only opened the door 5x before this happened. I can honestly say that a previous IKEA cabinet I put together and installed was a better quality product , with better gliding doors and soft close hinges that have NEVER separated from the doors in 10 years. Also, we were looking for hanging closet space and a small area for a perfume display. What I got was oversized drawers that feel flimsy and minimal hanging space. For how much we paid I expected much better quality, a correct install, and a response to repair issues to be MUCH quicker (they're not coming to fix this serious issue for 2 weeks!!). My master closet installers were arguing with each other during the install, they forgot my doors, installed the middle section incorrectly and the height of the shelves. They also realized they received an incorrect panel for hanging clothes yet continued the install. I had to show them all the blatant issues, which resulted in them having to take a big portion apart, and resulted in visible unnecessary holes. read more

The design was a bit off of what I thought it would be, however, they did make it look better. In some ways is not functional. No opening to dryer vent, which was closed in. I recommend that you review your design multiple times before purchasing. Also on hindsight I could have purchased cabinets at Home Depot and had them installed for half the price. read more

Working with Closets by Design has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing customer experiences I've had--especially after spending close to $25,000 with them. From start to finish, the project has been riddled with miscommunication, broken promises, and a complete lack of accountability. Unfortunately, my experience dealing with Wes & John, the leadership or so called managers at CBD, was especially disappointing. It became clear over time that their primary focus was not delivering great customer experience, but rather finding ways to upcharge, shift blame, and push money at every turn. Conversations were often inconsistent, and the information I was given kept changing depending on who I spoke with. Instead of being transparent and solution oriented, they seemed far more interested in maximizing profit! In my opinion, this is not how a trustworthy professionals operate. If you are considering working with Closet by Design, I STRONGLY recommend looking for another company. It is a damn shame when leadership appears more focused on profit than doing right by a customer who spent a fortune with them! Alexis our sales representative and designer did an amazing job. We got multiple upgrades throughout our house and recently got them all installed. They look amazing and are good quality. The lifetime warranty is a great plus that I hope to never have to use. Overall the upgrades are expensive and you will pay a good amount for them. However, if you can afford them they are well worth it. They are constantly running sales so if you miss one sale just wait a few weeks and there will be another one. read more

erroneously had a cabinet made with a shelf instead of drawers. They wanted 600 bucks AFTER a 40% discount to make 2 drawers for this because it isn't a new unit and only a modification. I would like to give a big shout out and thumbs up to the Closets by Design - Orlando team. Although my experience does not involve an installation, I want to say "Thanks!" to the Design Consultant, Jonathan Glick, who went above and beyond in trying to make my wish of extra closet shelf storage become a reality. Jonathan has a keen eye that immediately noticed a plumbing access panel in the area where I wanted to add shelves and compartments. He didn't give up and created three different design options for the walk-in closet for me to choose from. Throughout the entire appointment, to which he arrived on time, Jonathan was genuinely courteous, patient, and pleasant to work with. I signed a contract. Next is my "Thanks!" to the entire office staff. From my initial FB inquiry into their product to my hesitant contract cancellation, I was always greeted and treated with the utmost professionalism. I received timely follow-up reminders for my meeting with Jonathan Glick. I also felt Kelly was truly concerned for me when I spoke with her about my wish to cancel the project. She respected my opinion that, due to the plumbing access panel, we just didn't have the option to complete my vision and assured me that she would handle closing out the contract and forwarding the paperwork to refund my deposit. Beware of Closets By Design. 4 drawers are splitting apart sideways and particle board crumbling with barely one year of normal use. They refuse to honor their "lifetime warranty", falsely alleging that they were misused. The only evidence that they offer is the very fact that they are falling apart. They were requested explicitly for storing shoes and only used for storing shoes. Because everything is custom, they are the only ones who can replace anything. $7k mudroom down the drain. Update: Closets by Design's response is to again try to shift the blame of the failure of its product to weasel out of its warranty by concocting a baseless story of overloading from a misinterpretation of an image of a drawer filled appropriately. Do not be fooled. 4 drawers of quality construction should not be disintegrating within barely a year of normal use. An upstanding, reputable company would take pride in its work rather than going to such an extreme to leave its customer high and dry. Its response is also highly misleading: 1. "happy to assist you with either a replacement or repair" suspiciously neglects the fact that they are only willing to do so upon extracting additional payment for such warranty service that is stated in the contract to be provided at no additional charge. 2. They imply that a resolution of their shirking of their warranty responsibility is only a phone call away. In fact, multiple phone conversations only resulted in their immediately jumping to false conclusions without considering actual facts and refusing to consider honoring their warranty under any circumstances. A warranty is only of value to the extent that the company chooses to honor it. Do not make the same mistake that we have. read more

WOWOW- IMPRESSED!!! So I am a real estate agent and I was showing a home and the agent was the owner and I asked her who did her closet and she told me closet by design. So when I was ready to do my own closets I called them for an estimate. A really really nice informative young lady named Katelyn came out and explained everything -measured everything and I only planned on doing one closet...... BUT , I was so pleased with the price..... I ended up doing four closets and a laundry room and I could not be any happier. Very very pleased. On the day of install we did have a small mishap, but Wes the warehouse manager somehow turned it around and made it happen!! Everyone was very nice and very helpful and the installers, they were fabulous. It could not be any better. It's perfect. I could not be any happier. I'm considering letting them do my garage now. This is my second experience with them. Loved that the Sales Rep did her own CAD of the design. For the most part Stacey was quite responsive in answering all my questions and did a wonderful job of making sure everything was installed on the date promised. There were three things that disappointed me. First, after paying for upgraded wood and handles there were dings and edges that showed the wood beneath which they colored with magic marker. Secondly, the bottom cabinets did not have backing which I totally did not expect. Third, the space ended up to be smaller which reduced the size of my cabinets from 42" to 36". Stacy told me that they would need to do some work to the back because there was a gap in the wall. She said it would be a "fair trade". Well all they did was put two 3"x8" pieces of wood on the outside of the cabinet to hide the gap. I really don't think that was a "fair trade" Thankfully the cabinets are beautiful, but I think they should put the backs on my lower cabinets! read more

We had shopped around at several different locations including looking at doing the work ourselves via Ikea. And while Ikea would have been cheaper, our closet one didn't have any of the parts in stock and they were not available to ship! So we reached out to Closet By Design to get a quote. We were connected with Christina, and we're incredibly thankful that we were. She truly was a shining example of professionalism! She arrived at our house on time and walked us through the entire steps. She took the detailed measurements, and sketched everything out for us right then and there so that we could see what the closet would look like and quoted us as well. And when we said we just wanted to think about it, she followed up three days later and just asked if we had any questions. At no point did it ever feel like a pushy sales person. We really enjoyed our experience with Closets By Design and Christina. Christina helped us find additional savings that really helped us out to get the closet that we wanted. If I had to give any area for improvement, the only thing I would say is that it would have been nice, about a week before the closet install, to at least have communication to say hey just letting you know we're still on track. We did not receive any communication after we had paid the deposit and I ended up having to reach out and ask if everything was still on track. The installers did arrive on the day of installation at the time that they specified that they would, and they were done in a matter of hours. Again, great experience overall! read more

The work that was done was good. There were a couple of issues. 1. Our pantry one shelf was not secured and collapsed as soon as we put something on it. When we called customer service they essentially blamed us. They wouldn't send someone right away to fix it. If they did we would have to pay. This is an hour after completion but because we had another order they said they would fix it that day. 2. When they came out the second time they fixed the pantry and installed cupboards in our laundry room. Except they put two dents in our brand new dryer. So they make you sign a waiver to make sure they are not responsible for damaging anything. We cleaned out everything of the room but the washer and dryer. The dryer is gas. Not qualified to move it but if you don't sign the waiver you have to move it. That all said the manger and customer service were not customer friendly at all. The work done was done well that's why the 2 stars...Just buyer beware. Not a customer friendly company. If I could do it again I would go somewhere else. read more

The staff was very friendly and was able to come in and map out everything she wanted in her office/closet down to the T. I spoke with John, Operations Manager. While we agreed to disagree on some of the customer service feedback , he said he wanted to make me happy with my purchase. He replaced the 2 display shelves with all the unsightly boreholes the day after we spoke for 1/4 less than Carlos had advised. CBD also replaced a side that ended up with a small extra hole. I was left hole fillers for the above the desk shelving unit. I am pleased with the resolution. Designer: Christina was prompt, polite and professional. Worked well in helping me design what I needed. Responded to my call after the initial installation issues but encouraged me to call the office which is the process. Installers: David, Leo, Carlos and Ben were prompt, polite and professional. I had not complaints either time the installers were out. It was a very expensive piece of furniture. I just wish I had been able to bypass Nicole and Carlos as all they did was intensify an already bad and upsetting situation. We met with a very friendly sales rep who measured what we asked for and discussed with us her solution based on our needs. She sketched out the design and in the end gave us a fair price. We got on the schedule for the work. When their team came out, we walked through the plan to confirm everything and they went to work. They finished in one day as promised and cleaned up after themselves. We are happy with the results and are in the process of organizing our new closets. We have discovered a few things that seem odd and wished we would have planned it slightly differently. For example there is a bar for clothes to hang from above the washer but the only thing you can actually hang is an empty hanger, because the washer is just below it. We should have had a shelf put in instead, but the sketch seemed to make it look different. Another is the height of the clothes we planned to hang in the master bedroom closet. We wish their system was taller but we're making it work. We do have a couple other rooms we want done and are debating between them or Costco. read more

Buyer beware! There is not a lifetime warranty as stated in their materials. I thought this company would be great to go with due to having a lifetime warranty. It is not a lifetime warranty. We have had three Murphy beds, four Closets, and one desk / bookcase installed by Closets By Design Orlando. About a year ago we reported the headboard of the first Murphy bed installed had broken away from the pressed board and screw (see pictures). They requested we send pictures. We sent pictures. They then indicated they needed to order the part. We ordered two additional Murphy beds. They then stated they would take care of the headboard of the first Murphy bed when they installed the two additional Murphy beds. They did not take care of the original Murphy bed at the installation of the additional Murphy beds. I just received a phone call today indicating Closets By Design will NOT honor a lifetime warranty. Now they have indicated since it's TWO years old, I have to pay for the part as well as the labor. Having my walk-in closet professionally done has always been a 'bucket list item ' for me. Sue Spofford was helpful in our design process, including keeping two chests of drawers in place. The installers were on time and very efficient. They did have one problem; Sue incorrectly measured the wall/shelf space in one area of the closet. we had two options; 1.. stop the job, send the incorrect materials back and wait for the correction and a new completion date or 2. cut the longer piece and shelving and complete the job. We went with option 2 and it turned out very nice. The installers were great to work with. The job was completed in 3 hours; and the guys cleaned every surface, including the floor. I thought the pre-sales process was OK but they (Brad) said just how great the quality was on their product. We spent over 5.5k and the quality was actually not that great. My first complaint was that they won't patch the walls but only put drywall spackle on it and very poor job at that. They sealed the gaps only one side of 8 sides to the walls and the covers on the drawers were already started peeling like a sticker and weren't installed straight. When I complained to the installer he said that's the way it was which really made me feel ripped off. They were nice enough after complaining to come back and seal the gaps and straighten the drawers but told me I needed to call customer service to get the peeling drawers replaced. That sucks!... especially since they just reinstalled and now you are asking me to call another person to come in. Quality is low, I did some IKEA closets myself and they might be only slightly better than those and 20x the cost. My wife had "California Closets" in her condo years ago and she said the quality was much higher for the similar package. Sad and disappointed in this closet and it's our Master. I am however happy that we didn't have them do all the closets in the house. & It just doesn't make much sense financially redoing it at all at this point we are stuck with lower quality custom closets. I'm embarrassed to even tell anyone what I paid because it was noticeably sub par quality materials. read more
