rude employees = understatement. However I do find the occasional good find there. Some items are marked high(just because the well used tshirt says GAP or GUESS doesn't mean it's worth $14).i'd recommend this shop but don't expect to walk out with an entire wardrobe. Set your sites on just one or two pieces to add to an existing wardrobe and you'll think it was worth while. Almost forgot! Beautiful day..I bought some wonderful pieces today...The cashier was rude and short...because I was short..by 3 dollars...She said in an uncandidly manner...your card was declined...I got out of line..by that time a line has formed..ok no problem..shifted my money and got a extremely polite customer friendly professional young lady. I was driving home and started to bring back my stuff...but I appreciate the classy pieces. I love consignment shops. I shop at them almost exclusively. This location is one of the best consignment shops I have ever come across. It's huge, and it's full of nice brands, and it's really well organized, which keeps you from feeling overwhelmed when you walk through the door. Surprising selection in plus sizes. Clothing mostly in great condition. Staff is friendly and helpful once they know you need them but they are not necessarily going to ask. One teeny suggestion... maybe the amazing suit in perfect condition that I got at a steal of a price shouldn't be wadded up and stuffed in a bag. This is a great store to where my daughters and I have found a large variety of basic pieces for our wardrobe. They have good quality items arranged by color, size and type of item. You do need to spend some time going through the large number of racks. We have found some great designer items at very good prices....coats, shoes, boots, cashmere sweaters and dresses. I was at an event at the local store in Lexington, and I have never experienced such poor customer service. They were holding an event to promote a local clothing stylist, and they had champagne and snacks sitting out on the counter. Not only were most of the sales girls actually drinking the alcohol, but they actively ignored me, my friend, and two other customers. I am guessing that because we were probably the youngest women in the store and the other customers were much older (i.e. probably had more money), they made us wait for 45 minutes for a dressing room. I understand it is a very small shop, but they ignored us completely while we waited and the customers in the dressing rooms got continual service and attention from the consultant. The older women trying on clothes insisted on showing every single outfit to the consultant, which resulted in us waiting an absurd amount of time in order to try things on. I had to share a room with my friend in order to try stuff on before the store closed, as did the other two ladies in front of us in line. Additionally, while we were waiting for the dressing room, we were right next to the counter that had the champagne and other refreshments. About ten minutes after waiting, we were enjoying said refreshments, when who looked to be the manager came up with a nasty look on her face and moved the drinks. She said to a sales girl she was moving them "just because" and they would be pouring out the open containers. They offered no explanation for the wait, no apology, and looked at us with nasty looks on their faces. I have NEVER seen such poor customer service. I will not be returning, and I intend on letting everyone I know that the clothes mentor in Lexington is filled with stuck up sales people. read more

I used to recommend this store but not anymore. I am not sure who the buyers are for plus size clothing but they suck. They have no plus size swimwear, the shorts they have look more like capris. The clothing they have is Walmart brands, Cato with a few old LaneBryant labels thrown in. There are hardly any current plus sized items and I see why. They don't want to buy anything. I saw several people with bags of clothing nice things that were passed on. Things that certainly looked better than anything currently for sale. They are super rude. I used to get my purses there but all the purses they have look 4 or 5 yrs old. What a shame!!! read more

I am not one for buying clothes second hand..I'm sorry I just get a bit skeeved out. I do sell my purses here though. I give it only three stars because I think their buying is crap!! The pay nothing but resell for a lot! They are a pretty successful second hand store heck they have commercials on tv but honestly they are successful be used they bank on getting clothes for a good will rate while selling for a Channel price. It a hit or miss to shop here. Last week I did luck up on buying 8 dresses that I would have paid $70. or more from Lane Bryant store. The dresses look brand new. I would gave four stars, but I have a issue with the dressing rooms. Contructive critism here it goes: to the owner. You really need to clean the floor in the dressing room. Quite disgusting with big dust bunnies in the corners of the floor. Hey we are trying on clothes without shoes on! Please sweep the corners of the dressing rooms they are gross. Yes owner it's your fault dear for not randomly checking on your store for it to be clean or not. The white walls need a coat of paint, preferable a nice light color. A few more hooks in the dressing room...hint, if I am buying a lot, I need more hooks. I do not buy a lot if I do not not enough hooks to hook my clothes on to try on. Fiy...your dressing rooms are small, please make them look more modern. If you claim to be a Upscale used clothing store, then you need to have your dressing rooms clean, modern, and presentable. Great job arrangements on the store itself, but you forgot to fix the dressing rooms where 90% of women make their decisions to buy or not to buy your clothes. Clothes Mentor is literally my favorite store! There are certain brands I love like Lulu Lemon & other athletic brands that I just cannot afford to buy full price and they usually have a good selection here. Sometimes, yes the quality is maybe not the best for every single piece of clothing they have for sale... But honestly the prices are so reasonable that it's worth it to me to search through all the racks for some amazing finds! They have things organized really well and it's easy to locate your personal size. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that they are literally the WORST at buying your clothes. I have brought baskets and baskets of name brand clothes from Macy's, Nordstrom, Express etc and the highest amount they have ever offered me was like $12 store credit. They should have a list online of the exact items they need so that I'm not wasting my time bringing my nice gently used items in. I do love the concept of the store and will of course be back in to buy, but not sell. Check their store out!! read more

This is a good place to shop but a HORRIBLE place to sell. They are thieves. I took in 5 bags of clothing. All was very nice and in great condition. I've purchased there so I know what they sell. When I went back (the following day) to get my clothes they said they wanted two shirts and one pair of shoes for a total of $9!!! All remaining clothing had been donated since I didn't go back the same day. No proof of what they donated whatsoever. read more

I haven't figured out who they actually buy from. Each time I take things in to sell (higher end brands), i'm told some generic explanation of why they aren't good enough. It's just strange to me that I have nicer things than what I find on the racks and shelves! read more

I was extremely dissapointed with both the lack of customer service and the condition of the store. The employees I interacted were inaccurate with stating the policies and amount of time a buy of my clothing would take, the did not notify me when the buy was ready so I waited needlessly for almost an hour and when they returned the items they did not want to buy they were knotted in a mess - but I had brought them in on hangers and dry cleaned. When I asked for assistance in putting the items back on hangers the woman literally looked at me, shrugged, and walked to the next cash register. I cannot think of another time where I delt with more careless and inconsiderate retail associates. Even with what they bought, I would never go back. The store has a foul odor, things are disorganized, often the clothes for sale were unwashed and in poor condition, particularly for the price being charged. read more

Horrible place to resale. Only offered $12 for the items they wanted. When asked about the unwanted items the little girl stated the hems were warn and inside stains on the pants. Neither were things were true. All of the pants had been warn less than 5 times. It must be their standard answer when they turn away quality clothing. read more

I was very disappointed with the service after hearing all the great commercials. I had called beforehand to see if they would have any out-of-season items that would be suitable for a cruise. The girl I spoke with on the phone told me that she would pull some in my size and save them for me. I told her I would be by on Sunday. When I arrived at the store, I was told that they are not allowed to hold anything and that nothing had been saved-no "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but we will be happy to help you find something"-so I asked if they would help me, and the girl at the counter didn't even answer me, but went off to ask someone else! Two girls reluctantly helped me find some things, but when I asked about some additional items, they were pretty unresponsive. They make it very clear in their radio ads that they are for the over-25 set, but all the employees look like teenagers, and I don't think they really cater to ladies older than themselves. Most of them were busying themselves rehanging clothes and talking to each other. I will not go back to this store EVER, and though I had told some friends about it, I am going to tell them not to bother going. . .try Sassy Fox-they're always nice and helpful. read more

It is ridiculous and a bit misleading when a business advertises that they will buy items and that they do not specify what they do and do not buy. Many times have I been on the website and I have attempted to call the store at the Zandale shopping center with either no specific information about what they do buy at particular times or I usually get hung up on when I tried to call. If they are only buying certain items at a certain time or if they have what they call a "low need" for an item they need to advertise that more clearly instead of indicating that they will buy items that are brought into their store. Due to that lack of specificity, a lot of people come in and waste their time trying to sell items while they're under the impression that they would be able to with some success. I came in and sold two items once out of two large bags of barely worn or never worn items and I was told that it was because they were not buying long sleeves and it being almost winter nor do they have any need for other items that I had in those bags. I will never attempt to sell here nor will I buy any of the merchandise that they have in the store. There are plenty items that I see on the shopping floor all the time that match similar items that I have which do have some variance and differences; there is no reason why this place that advertises that they will buy anything won't actually buy the product that you bring to their store. This place is a joke, the customer service is ridiculous because it's a bunch of young college kids who think they're better than everybody, and you can't even get through to a manager. read more

This store is a joke! I don't know who they actually buy from! The employees are rude and unhelpful. The first bag of clothing I took in was not even removed from the bag, and looked at, but I decided to try one more time. I took a plastic storage bin in with nothing but upper end name brand clothes and shoes. It took them less than 60 seconds, literally, to look through the bin and call my name. I actually watched the girl take the Ralph Lauren jacket on the bottom and lay it on top and call my name. The employees were too busy gossiping and laughing to do their job. The explanation I was given was that the clothes and shoes were "older style" than what they look for. There were several items from Christmas, as well as a shopping spree in Orlando in August. Nothing was more than 18 months old. Coach and Antonio Melani (I don't think she even knows who that is) purses; Coach and Betsy Johnson shoes; Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Express and Gap tops, jackets and pants. I saw a few shirts hanging up from 3 years ago. I don't know what the management tells their employees to look for, but their advertisements about bringing in name brand clothes to sell is simply false advertisement!!! Perhaps they only buy their family and friends clothes, or perhaps the employees themselves bring in their own things, but they certainly do not spend any time or effort to actually LOOK at what is brought in by customers they don't know. I will be sure to tell all my family and friends and the numerous young women that I work with, about my experience here, and I will NOT be back. read more

RUDE EMPLOYEES!!! I went in with 3 boxes of business professional clothing mostly from Lane Bryant. (I recently lost over 75 lbs which is the only reason I was wanting to sell my cloths.) I had never been there before, so I didn't know the system. The girls behind the counter couldn't be bother by me to let me know where I needed to check in. Lucky, there were some nice customers to let me know. I was told it would be an hour wait, and I was fine with it. After about 40 minutes I was told they were not interested in any of my clothes. They had not even opened only of the boxes. I know this because I found a set close to the counter and was watching. Note: I had 2 business suits in the boxes that cost well over $250 that had only been wore a few times. When I asked why, they claimed they had a 'mild smoky' smell. Whatever, I don't smoke; however, we live in Kentucky. Our number one cash crop is TOBACCO. Whatever! They lost a whole closet full of clothing. I already have a private buyer lined up. I am sure I will be getting more money for my clothing then what they could/would have offered. The place, in general, was over-flowing is clothing. Most of the clothing, I wouldn't be caught dead in. Their jewelry selection was a MAJOR JOKE. And who carries pocketbooks these days that looks like a quilt? NOT ONE!!! At least no one under the age of 60. My mom doesn't even carry one of those. I carried one when they where in style... You know, in the 90's. read more
