I recommend this resale shop. Just know it is small and they are selective when buying from you. They have a very organized shop and friendly workers. This is a small business owner who has a staff of 15 people! Whatever we buy in that shop keeps people employed and fewer textiles being up on the "wasted textile" mountains in South America and Africa. My review is totally based on being a seller over being a shopper. The staff is nice - most ladies are friendly or at least pleasant. The store seems clean, and there are racks and racks of clothes, shoes and some accessories. The store is in a residential area in a nice little shopping strip. The reason I tried out Clothes Mentor is because their selling point was how they payout before having actually sold your items. You have a choice between cash or store credit. Now granted you probably get less payout than usual, but it's good if you won't necessarily be in the area for long or want money sooner than later. This drew me in knowing that with most consignments they must sell your items first. The first time I went I didn't have that many items (maybe 6-8 pieces) but I'm glad I called first because even though it was just a few articles of clothing, they said they wouldn't be able to get through it & provide feedback that same day - it would likely be the next. They text you when done and request that you return to the store within 3 days. When I came back with multiple bags (they only accept up to 3 and your clothes must NOT be on hangers) it was much earlier in the day, and they accepted them to sort but again said it wouldn't be same day. This time I was not at all close to closing time. However, it looked like there were a lot of bags of clothes in the front that people had brought in. Maybe January is a popular time for closet purging. I was able to cash out from the few items I brought in before - one of which was a really nice, barely worn Gianni Bini aztec cardigan. Including that sweater, they really only kept maybe 4 pieces and I got a few dollars, but probably not worth my gas and time away from work rushing over there and back home to Irving. They have flyers and voice prompt if you call in, that state what all they're receiving and what they won't take (I.e. Size 0-6 skirts or pants). The second time (3rd trip) I returned to pick up my 2nd round of items because they couldn't sort in the same day; they gave me back ALL 3 BAGS FULL to take home! I know these are mostly pre-owned items, perhaps not the trendiest styles, but still classic quality pieces; based on some of the brand names, condition & style I was surprised that they couldn't use anything AT ALL. They said the reason was because they were overstocked and just had too much already. What I don't understand is why they let me leave everything there in the first place if that was the case. I'm glad I didn't take the more high end stuff I have by Armani. I'm not sure I recommend using this consignment shop to sell unless you live really close. There's another location in South Arlington that I haven't tried; not sure if they're also overstocked or share the same level of communication as North Richland Hills. It would be cool to know in the text notification if any items qualified for sales - Just an idea. I personally won't be rushing back. I can likely make more $$ on Poshmark. If you have the spare time for Clothes Mentor's process cool, but otherwise you might as well donate to a women's shelter / thrift shop like Genesis. read more

You never know what you are going to find when you shop. Today I purchased a Chicos sweater and Kendra Scott necklace and earrings at a fraction of what they would cost in their stores. The salespeople are very friendly and always offer to help. The store is organized by size and color, which makes things easy to find. Every season I take things to sell. I recommend that you make an itemized list of everything you are taking to sell to them. I have come with my friend who is moving out of state and needs to clean out her closets. We came 5 -6 times to sell clothing. We have noticed items were not returned to us in the bag they "passed" on. There is a phone number, but when I called it is only a recording. There is no one answering the phone, so that means that we will have to make another 20 mile trip to talk to them. Brought 2 bags of clothes,purse and shoes. I was surprised they didn't take more since my clothes were either brand new or very gently used. What they did take they barely gave me anything for.My clothes were from high end stores not Target or Old Navy. I did see they had quite a few pieces of clothing from Target and Old Navy they were selling.I think that's probably what sells with their clients. Everytime I come here the staff are always so nice and helpful. They inform me of the sales and check up on me. They are never pushy or rude. I love that I can bring my clothes here and get a great price for my gently used items. This clothes mentor is a little bit of a drive for me, but so worth it because of the great customer service. Fairly good place if you want/need a little extra cash for your unwanted gently used items. Do not expect to be paid high dollar for your brand name items though. If you're okay with parting with an item you paid $300 for around $10-15 then this place will not disappoint. They say they have system or scale, unsure how realistic or reasonable it is. But when I would rather have a little cash in hand as opposed to donating I go here, but mostly I will gather all items for donations to women's shelters. read more

I offered them some clothes and the only thing they took was my boots. And they tried to offer me 3 dollars for them because they're "not real" ((how do you know if they were real or not???)) I spent $120 dollars on those boots, so no $3 is not acceptable..I also had a brand new dress and she said that it had a ""stain"" on it. I asked her were the f*ck do you see a stain at and she [i kid you not] literally pointed at fabric from the dress...I told her that the entire dress have that ""stain"" on it ((like aka that's fabric of the dress you clown)). I had so many clothes to give them and they didn't buy a single item. They were in great condition too. I also had shoes that had never been worn and still in original packaging and they didn't buy them either! Their excuse was "the clothes were brands they don't accept and the heels on the shoes too high". I saw several heels for sale so I'm calling BS. That's fine, I'll take my business elsewhere. My daughter and I have shopped at this Clothes Mentor for several years and had great experiences, but our recent visit was a disappointment. We had accumulated $200 worth of stamps on our loyalty card, but when we tried to use it, we were told they had changed to a computer system to keep track of purchases. There was a sign still on the register saying the card could be used, but we were told the sign should have been taken down a few weeks previously. Instead of giving us credit in the new computer system for our stamps, the sales lady threw our card in the trash. When I asked why she did that, she said, "Oh, do you want to keep it?" Of course I didn't, but I do think my loyalty should have been rewarded by allowing me to use the stamps I had accumulated with my purchase for that day so I could get the discount I deserved. This was my first Clothes Mentor experience! What an awesome place! Finally a store for adults, for high end clothes, at GREAT prices. This location has a great selection, great staff, and very clean! Now that I've seen 4 CM stores, this one is my favorite! They are great to help find pieces to complete an new outfit, and have great suppliers! Only thing is I have to check in a few times a week for all the good stuff... LOL. LOVE this place!!! The prices are great in the store, and I can appreciate that! If you are a true shopper, you'll love the prices. If you are selling, and worry that you could get more selling it yourself, you are right... but consider the costs... pictures, listing, posting, answering, packing, shipping it, etc. What better than to walk in, take away CASH, and have a cleaner closet! LOVE that too! Remember, they take the risk if the item sells or not. If you are selling, also keep in mind, they are looking for things less than 2 yrs old, in top condition, no spots, snags, any wear or shrinkage. If this location doesn't accept it, it might mean their inventory is full, or maybe just that size or style and another location might need it. read more

I am in a time crunch to find something that is "Cowboy Casual" for a charity event this weekend. Thought I'd stop by to see what they had in stock. I found the staff friendly, the place clean, well stocked and organized. The store is layed out in a very organized manner according to season, color and style. They have a section of jewelry and accessories I really liked that are a great deal at 50 to 70 % off retail. As for the fashions they had a good selection of your familiar upper scale brands like Ann Taylor, White House Black Market etc. if you are looking for top tier brands like the other reviewer you will likely have to search more. However Id rather shop here than Goodwill. i ended up finding some Circle G boots that I got at a 40% discount from retail. I would have liked a better discount but its rare to see real leather Cowboy boots on sale at a good deal so I picked them up. overall enjoyed my shopping experience here. read more

I hate to give this review because I have been going to this Clothes Mentor for a few years now. When I first found it they took in and sold some good designers and a pretty good great selection. Lately, whether selling or buying, the style has changed to clothes that are not only not fashionable but low grade name brands. I have to be honest... I can get a lot of the same things lately at this store that I could find in goodwill. And on top of it the clothes look more worn than usual. Maybe its the staff? One of my very favorite clothing stores. I've spent a truly embarrassing amount of money at this place. To be clear, I generally hate clothes shopping. The whole game for me is finding places which optimize the try on/purchase ratio, while also not forcing me to sell my kidneys on the black market to be able to afford it. This place is the absolute jackpot. Clothes Mentor is my go-to spot in resale business and casual wear for looking like an adult. This last trip, for example: I came away with ten tops, a blazer, a pair of slacks, a dress, and a belt, for about $150. All name-brand items with tons of wear left in them - mostly in like-new condition, and a couple with original tags still attached. Another $140 netted me two genuine leather winter jackets and a wool coat which will last me for years. The staff are friendly, although during busy times it can be hard to track down someone to open a dressing room. They let you set things aside in a basket up front while you're shopping, so you don't have to lug them around with you, but it would be nice if they also had some kind of basket to collect things in while on the floor - my (feeble) left arm is always sore the day after coming here from hauling around a giant stack of stuff to try on. The dressing rooms have an (inconsistently reinforced) 6-item limit, so if you've 20 items in your arms they'll generally hang the rest on the outside of your dressing room until you work your way through the first 6. It can help, though, if you have a shopping buddy who can hand you items over the dressing room door as you're finished with them. Tops generally range from about $8-$12, dresses are $10-$25, and slacks are $8-20. They've also got plenty of jeans - both designer and otherwise. A pair of Miss Me's will generally run you about $40. There are always outliers, of course - particularly nice pieces will always be more. That wool coat I picked up was about $60. The loyalty program is also nice - it's tied to your phone number, so you don't have to keep track of a physical card, and after the first $250 you'll get 20% off on your next purchase. Always nice for folks like me who buy in bulk. They also give you 10 or 15% off during your birthday month. Happy birthday to you! read more

I like this shop...... If you have high end items like chanel this isn't the place to sell them. Some things they have no idea the prices on so I sell those somewhere else. I took in a pair of Old Gringo boots and they had NO idea what they were and tried to give me $20. As far as shopping is concerned I frequent this place often. I feel that their lack of knowledge on the brands gives me an advantage! A few weeks ago I found a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels for $18! These retail for over $400. Now those are deals I like! I arrived at the North Richland Hills clothes mentor location on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 6 PM. Before going to the store, I made sure to look up whether or not they were going to be open. I searched for clothes mentor and the closing time for Saturday was listed as 8 PM. Knowing that I would only be in the store for a short period time, I decided to stop in because I would be gone long before closing. When I arrived to the store, there were only a couple other people there. I did not receive a warm welcome, which I thought that was a bit odd. Then, one of the girls working walked by the aisle I was on and gave me a very unpleasant look. Shortly after that, another girl that worked there came up to me and let me know that at 6:10PM, it was 10 minutes past closing. I informed her that I looked up the hours before coming, and that I would never want to keep them past closing. She informed me that their hours have changed and they had not updated the website. I am very disappointed and frustrated that I spent time traveling to this location which is out of my way, and that I was treated so poorly, considering that I did my due diligence and of looking up the hours beforehand. The girls were rude, dismissive, and hateful. I left as quickly as I could. I've been a customer of this location (both buying and selling) for several years. I won't be back. read more

To be honest, I have been very disappointed with this Clothes Mentor location! I have been multiple times and each time I feel that the manager (maybe owner?) Pat is very nosy, but not in a making conversation way, more of an in my business/questioning me kind of way. I find that her tone is not rude...but it just puts me off. They do however pay less compared to some of the other locations that I go to. I took a bag of clothes to them and they offered me $41 for 15 items. I declined the offer, took the same clothes to another store and received $59. That is quite a difference. I am not sure how that is possible since they say their system prices everything for them? Overall, their inventory looks ok, I would just sell somewhere else. read more

My husband took a large selection of clothes that I'm no longer able to wear - nice slacks, sweaters, a couple business suits, and several pairs of slightly wore shoes. All were nicely hung on plastic hangers & business suits were in plastic from the dry cleaners. When he arrived he felt like they were "put out" that he brought so many items to be sold. When I spoke to them on the phone they said no appt was needed just bring the items by. Before they looked at the items, he was instructed to take everything off the hangers then bring them back. He want back to his vehicle and removed all the hangers, took everything back inside, they threw everything in a tub, and told him they'd text him after they'd gone through everything. My issue is, why couldn't they leave everything on the hangers. Instead, he was given everything but 2 items to take back home in slightly folded & placed in bags. So by the time I got home, everything had been in the bags for several hours. All the care I've taken with the clothes, they had no respect for. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO THIS STORE TO SELL.
