Happened upon this store not knowing it was going to be full of such great second hand clothing. It's all gently used and many new with tag items. There are high end designer, LV, Chanel, Tom Ford. Brought in long dresses was advised they dont take long dresses. I had one dress that went to the knee with tags never worn by Michael Kors they said I would have to wait an hour they were busy. Dropping off clothes for my wife initially they were fine. They asked if my wife was deceased I said no. Then asked if she had been there before , I said no. She said she couldn't accept it because of a city ordinance. I don't quite get that but but this older lady with curly gray hair jumped in and was so rude to me. Ok I get if there is a stupid ordinance but just be nice or at least cordial.. I will never go back there and we had nice stuff. I would rather donate to Goodwill than walk in there again. I had taken a huge selection of brand name clothing, all nicely folded and freshly cleaned. And most of them brand new. A lot of the clothing was White House Black Market (which they sell a lot of) and they didn't take one piece. Employee was also very rude and snobby. This is a professional resale shop that has clothes for women that are not teeny-boppers/juniors (like Plato's Closet resale = juniors). Make sure you pay attention to the "Buying Times"! They only buy your clothes BEFORE 5:00 PM daily. It is a smaller staff and the owner does all the selection herself to ensure quality products. They do drop off and text you when they are processed, usually by the end of the day or by the next day. I would say their selection is comparable to Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls. You can definitely find some goodies for great prices in this store. read more

This afternoon I took in some items in to sell. I didn't realize they had a 5 p.m. deadline for selling items on Saturdays and I arrived at 5:10. I told the two employees that I had just driven an hour to get there, but they wouldn't even look at my things. I had some nice plus-sized items, some still with tags but nope, they wouldn't cut me a break for showing up 10 minutes after their deadline. I brought a friend with me who had never been there before and was interested in buying some things, but after she saw how I was treated, she didn't even want to look. Took a visit out there today with clothes that were in great condition and taken to cleaners, some with tags, they claimed that they were outdated, did they see the ugly clothes they have on mannequins? Dozens of shoes some slightly worn and some new, and said those were outdated, what about the old shoes and purses they have on racks? Never will go there again, rather take my clothes to Salvation Army or St. Vincent for the poor, they would appreciate better. Poor customer relationship, don't even deserve a one star. read more

I have been to this store 3 or 4 times and made 2 purchases, and until this week planned to stop in frequently because I am trying to reuse rather than buy new when possible. My 2nd purchase on a weekend included a scarf which I loved. But when I got home and pulled the scarf out of my Trader Joe's reusable bag, I saw that the end of the scarf where it was sewn together had an opening where the thread had become frayed and loose with a hole in it. It was so fragile that when I went to look at it more closely the hole ripped even bigger. This past Tuesday, I stopped in to show the staff that I had purchased the scarf with a hole in it and wanted to see what they could do for me. As soon as I came in, the woman helping me said, I remember you, and proceeded to tell me that when she sold me the scarf it did not have a hole in it. Then another woman working there, yelled across the floor "We don't take scarves back" Then the other woman said, We don't sell items with holes in them." I then replied "...But you did...sell me an item with a hole in it." I understand if your store policy is that you don't take used items back - I would have been ok with that, buyer beware. But don't insist that you never sell defective items. I know that retail and restaurants are having a tough time. Not once have I left a bad review in the last 18 -20 months, and I have consistently given tips. I was very disappointed in the service and attitude of the folks working at Clothes Mentor and will take my business elsewhere. read more

Shopped here for 3 years recently bought a purse for $$$$ was very upfront with the sales lady that there were two issues I was concerned about. She encouraged me to consider the value of it's condition and how much she herself would like to get it. Thought it could be returned within 7 days. When I returned 6 days later I was told only clothes could be returned! I even asked if they would accept it back if I made an even more expensive purse purchase. I was told it was against company and store policy, I could sell it back for half what I paid because that is what they paid. No longer a patron. read more

I will never go back to this location. The worker named "Monica", unsure if this is her actual name, was appalling. When I first walked in she looked at my bins and made me sort through myself and take out what she didn't think will sell. She then told me to not waste her time and said they probably wont take any of my stuff. I know for a fact that she did not look through any of my clothes because they were folded and put back in the same order as I gave them. She returned my bin with A CRACK IN IT. Finally when I said thank you and took my bin, she snarked and said she told me that they wouldn't take my items. Safe to say I will never be returning. read more

I have visited the Novi location and thought I would give this store a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the great selection they have and for very cheap prices! The clothing was all in good condition, even the clearance clothing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The fitting rooms are closed right now but they offer some options for returns and I was able to find some really good pieces in my size. I will be back! read more

I have tried to bring clothes in to sell twice now and I give up. I brought in new clothes and some still had tags! They were offering me $8 for 5 of my items. No thanks! I gave this place another try and it disappointed me again. I brought in a few purses, bags and a few dresses and then was told I cannot sell if it's not in a bin so I was obligated to buy a bin for $2 or else I just dragged all my stuff in there for no reason. (I'm not hating their regulations just wish there was more of a notice, a sign or something). I was also told the few items I had brought in had to stay overnight and I didn't question it or whatever but just thought it was strange. I get a phone call at around 1 saying I have to pick up my items by 6 or they will be donated because they are not open sunday's. So I rush home from work and get them and they ended up buying nothing. They said once again they weren't in style and too loved and all that type of stuff. I very much brought in clothes that were in style but for younger people. I overall think the store is great but the "Buy list" is throwing people off, because what a 60 year old women might wear is different from what a 20 year old women might wear. If they were planning on targeting all customers of all ages they should have workers of all ages because in the nicest way it's just not logical to have different age groups telling what's in style for an age group 30+ years older/younger. I really do love this store. I am a former employee, (due to personal reasons) and I can honestly the owner and staff take such good care of everything brought into inventory with a very exact selection process to ensure the highest quality product for their shoppers. In the same breath they work hard to authenticate and research to make sure all pay outs are fair based on the i teams and in many cases pay out higher then other resale shops I personally frequent both as a shopper and a seller. Regardless to if you're new to resale or a savy Salvation Army huntress this is a wonderful Spot to keep in mind. They have great deals on AMAZING brands and designers. Everyone is always happy to help and get you to what you're looking for fast! It's a clean environment with gorgeous product and FANTASTIC management. Yes this is a franchise but this beautifully run family owned store really sets its self apart from the typical franchise chain. I went here a few times before the shutdown-just didn't have time to write a review on yelp until now, when I was on here looking for a review on something else. I HAVE agree with most of the comments on here. Employees were not inviting, and I actually heard one of them arguing with a customer accusing her of ruining an item she had just tried on!! HUH? Anyway I hung around for a few and then left. That was my last time there because that was the last straw. I gotta say, HIGH prices (for what they are selling), rude employees, and never want to buy your things even though half of the stuff on the floor (except the designer purses) is not all that hot. This store is awesome! Resale shops are a dime a dozen these days, but this location sets itself apart because they only cater to WOMEN, no bratty sixteen year old's acting like they run the place. Very refreshing. The clothes, impeccable - great selection and very neat, not at all like some of the other places around that are messy and carry visibly worn used-and-abused clothing; the store's vibe is very welcoming and staff is super helpful. I scored a $148 dress WITH TAGS for $24. Such a great deal, I highly recommend every lady in and around Rochester come check it out. Did I mention they have quite the HIGH END DESIGNER handbag selection? Never paying full price for a designer bag (or anything else for that matter) again!!! Keep up the good work, ladies! read more

I'd rather donate my items then take a couple dollars. They also are currently only looking for "certain items" because they're at capacity. Waste of time. Rude employees. Will not help a customer if they need to use rest room. Over priced. Smaller consignment stores have better service, friendlier employees and will let you use the rest room if needed. Went there before they actually opened up to sell. Was allowed in starting looking at the clothes and told that they were not open to sell only taking clothes to sell. Should of made it clear on the doors or a sign outside of the store. Will not go back and will recommend to everyone I know not to go. Everyone that I associate with will listen to my review as they know I extremely good about consignment stores around Oakland County. Beware. Hopefully others have a better experience than I have. Was really excited to check this store out and brought some really nice never worn shoes and designer purses to try and sell. I packed up both kids and got to the store by noon to find a sign on the door that they were not buying anymore items for the day. It was only noon and they open at 10:00am! I went in to ask the manager if she could look at my items and she was very rude and said no and next time I should call. I don't suggest visiting this store. read more
