The whole store is run by unhelpful teenagers. The staff is lazy, unorganized, and unable to problem solve.

This place was SO CUTE! I was literally just driving down 14 Mile and saw a really cute items…read moredisplayed outside of this mysterious store and quickly pulled over to check it out. Lo and behold...it was Clawson Makers Market, proving once and for all, I definitely have an affinity for all things local and artisan - I'M OBSESSED! There is only ever one parking spot available in front of the market, but there's plenty of street parking off to the side that can be utilized. I can't believe I have come to Clawson so many times (mostly on Noble Fish runs) and have never been aware of this makers market! I love seeing what local artists and artisans are up to and this really fit that bill. It's a stone's throw away from the heart of downtown and truly worth the visit if you, like me, love local goods! The space inside feels small, but I think it's mostly because it stuffed full to the brim with goodies from all kinds of local vendors! While it feels very full, it's also very organized, and I love it! It's the perfect store! There's something to look at everywhere your eyes fall, it was wonderful. You weave throughout the entire store, with additional side rooms and cubby holes that you can pop in and out of. There is truly something for everyone here. I definitely took note of several great gift ideas for loved ones for when the holidays get even closer (which is honestly SO SOON), so I'll definitely be coming back to scoop some of these goodies up! For now, I was just perusing around for myself, found a gorgeous glass pumpkin to complement my fall decor made out of artisan glass, and was very tempted by some beautiful crochet sofa covers as well! The material was so soft to the touch! I love it all and can't wait to come back soon to see what other goods I missed from my first pass through this market and what new goodies enter as the holidays draw close! Fun addition to my experience when I visited as well was that the owner had bagpipe music playing the entire time I shopped as well! It was a whole MOOD and I was really here for it! I believe she was watching a live stream from the Renaissance festival and I truly loved that! The workers were so friendly and chatted with everyone! They seem very beloved in this wonderful city and that's a testament to the kind of business they run. :) I'll see you soon, Clawson Makers Market!

A Makers Market is a store that sells goods and products from multiple artists and crafts people…read more This one does a good job of having a diverse selection of products that might appeal to many different groups. Of course, lots of Michigan and Detroit centric items, but a lot of other interesting items, crafts and jewelry as well. I've bought a few things here and have been pleased. Pandemic response - They are selling facemasks with and without filters. They are comfortable and fit well. I've bought 4 of each and shared them with my kids. You order online and they notify you when they are ready. When you show up they will ask you your order # and walk your nicely sealed package out to your car. Handed off with mask & gloves in place. If you need masks, this is a good option, and it also will hopefully keep their business open until they can fully re-open.

Leon & Lulu are the owners' dog and cat. I discovered that when I told my associate, Susan, that I…read morewas taking photos for Yelp. I was then given an impromptu tour that I truly enjoyed. The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Leon & Lulu also will give you a discount for your birthday if you share that information. If you're in Ferndale, Clawson or Detroit, put this store on your must visit list.

If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

I normally go the Dollar Tree in Troy (in the Walmart plaza) but I was on my way to Panera to pick up curbside, and this was the only dollar store in that area. It had kind of an old/funky smell inside. I saw they had cards through the window, so that was encouraging, but their Halloween selection is pretty limited; they maybe had like 10 different card designs to choose from, but 7-8 of those were for little kids (grandkids, children, etc). I ended up buying five for family and friends, and good thing I did because they have a $5 minimum limit for credit cards. The final reason I'm giving them 3 stars: the cashier was not wearing a mask. The man next to him beside the counter was, FWIW. He had a very thin layer of plastic sheeting between me and him, so I'm guessing that's why he thought it was fine ... however, I'm "high risk," so I definitely wiped off my credit card with a wipe when I got back to my car. I wouldn't stop by here again, I will just go to Dollar Tree next time. But they do have a lot of cards (non-Halloween ones) if you need them.
