I came here a few years ago because a friend of mine likes to plant natives on her property. Since then I have come back a few times a year to pick something up myself. My yard thanks this nursery because the advice I get is always so helpful and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable. I came yesterday a few minutes before closing and was not rushed at all to find the plants I was looking to get. When I couldn't find it, I was personally escorted to find them. Love this place! Huge selection of native plants and knowledgable staff to answer almost any question. Last year I had a question about a spicebush I wanted to purchase and the lady, whose name I should know by now, pulled out a magnifying glass to show me the difference between male and female flowers. read more

What a marvelous native plant nursery!! Whether you are a native-plant enthusiast already or just looking for beautiful, well-adapted plants that will attract bees and butterflies and birds to your garden, Redbud will be your jam. Contrary to James K's experience, I found the owner (Catherine) to be charming, knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. Another of her employees who was at the nursery also seemed quite pleasant. Actually, I don't live in Pennsylvania and only visited the nursery with my dad to pick out a few plants for his house. But I wish we had a nursery like this in Nashville. If so, I would be a regular customer for sure. read more

Wonderful native plant nursery. The widest selection of native plants I have seen, and since it's all native you really can't go wrong. The plants are in great shape Lush cardinal flowers, unusual liatris, viburnum, ilex, blueberries and chokeberries heavily berried and the clethra in glorious bloom and buzzing with pollinators.The owner was knowledgeable and helpful and friendly, even in the continued heat and humidity so high your sweat can't evaporate. She carried plants for me, gave me great information and kept me from buying the wrong plant for a semi shaded location. Prices were competitive and lower than the nursery closest to me which has a much more limited selection. If you're looking for something in particular it would be well worth your time to give these folks a call. If you're on a native plant binge, just go. read more

Catherine is very accommodating and knowledgeable. She is able to "special order" hard-to-find plants if she can locate them. She has a nice supply of Trillium in addition to hundreds of trees, shrubs and perennials. read more

Redbud has an EXCELLENT native plant selection. My only complaint is that they are not closer to me. :) They have plants that I've never seen in any other native plant nursery, basically if its native and you want it, they probably have it. It took all my power not to buy all the native trees I wanted. The prices are on par with other native plant nurseries. The person working that day (the owner I think) was a bit on the curt side, but she's extremely knowledgeable about the species and which would work well in the space you are using. read more

Catherine and Redbud are amazing. I started going to Catherine, the owner, several years ago when I was new to the neighborhood and needed plants to create centerpieces for my wedding. She talked to me about the looks I wanted, recommended plants, and continued to help me find the perfect variety and amount of plants for over 20 centerpieces. Since then I have gone to Catherine many, many times to help me plan and develop different sections of my yard with native plants. I do not have a green thumb and Catherine always helps me choose plants that will thrive in specific spots of my yard with little help from me. She welcomes pictures to help me plan (or identify new plants that suddenly appear in the yard) and is so knowledgeable. Furthermore, Catherine is exactly who you want as a small business owner. She cares. She not only cares about her work and ecology, but cares about her customers and neighborhood. Since the first visit, she always remembered my name and takes time to ask about my life. I also learn more about the various plants every time I visit. The nursery has an amazing amount of native plants and the prices are similar to other vendors (or less if you don't mind buying a younger plant). I always need to stop myself from buying more than I can plant in a weekend. I definitely believe in the importance of using native plants and Catherine and Redbud have been great resources. read more
