I gave Clovis Marina my motor to rebuild my carburetor on the motor because it sat for 5 yrs why I went through cancer treatment. It took forever , and when I got it back it ran the same as it did when I brought it in.Dave said everything was my fault.Even thought he never found anything wrong on my end.Only gunk in the carb. that he apparently did not clean out. Never did get it to run right. Put on a new carb. and it ran fine. During this whole process he was rude, obnoxious, cursed every other word. After looking into his business I found a domestic case was filed against him. This just goes along with the other reviews about his attitude towards his customers. Theirs other good shops out their. I would not every go to this shop ever again started out good but when I needed his help Dave sucked took my boat in he said bring it my batterys were dead Dave said I don't every charge batteries buy new ones so I did brought them to him this is on the third day two hrs later he called me said pick up your shit boat it's in the street I was shocked I showed up 30 min later sure enough it in the st with my new batteries sitting on my rear step this guy I a asshole never again his shop is a rip off i took it to another shop my battery's were good it needed a water pump impler I was going to pay what ever to fix it but Dave is in left field and his receptionist is a bitch too if you wanna get ripped off go here to think he works for law-enforcement on their boats I would recommend another shop less than one star the shop doesn't even rate stars read more

I bought one elsewhere and tried to get warrantee service on a stuck pull starter today. "We don't service transient motors". I explained I tried to buy it from him first. Very pleased with the fast and effective service received on my 2020 Avalon pontoon boat with a 115 Mercury outboard motor. Seemed like the several other excellent boat places in the Central Valley were so slammed they couldn't even look at it for 3 weeks! I called Dave at Clovis Marine and he said to bring it right on down. Diagnosed by computer scan what was needed, took care of it ASAP, and even gave me a 'hot deal' on the cost. TERRIBLE!!!! TERRIBLE!!!! TERRIBLE!!! I wish there was a negative Star button that I can use. Let's start from the beginning. I was referred to to Dave (The Owner) at Clovis Marine by a Co-worker that ran into him at Millerton Lake as he (Co-worker) was working on his boat. Dave and my co-worker talked for a bit and Dave told him if he ever needed anything or knew someone that needed anything to send them his way. Me being a 1st time boat owner I seeked advice from my Experienced Co-worker. So I called Clovis Marine and Dave answered he was super nice and really answered all my questions. I then asked to set an appointment and he said "give me your number and I'll have Heather call you back." I said great. She called me and set an appointment about 3 weeks out 9-13-21 @ 8am, I asked can I bring it in later since I live almost an hour away, she said "We like to have them here early so we know how much work we are going to have. I said "ok, no problem." I show up at 8am the day of my appointment, No one was there... So I figured they made a mistake let me go fill up with gas and grab something to eat. I go back at 8:45 am still no one there. Around 9am a mechanic shows up and asked if I needed help told him I have an appointment with Dave and started to ask me about my boat made small talk, then I hear a truck just hauling ass right behind us and the mechanic said, "oh that's Dave" so he jumps out of his Back Dodge Ram as the mechanic walks up to him and tells him that I have an apportionment with him, The very first thing that comes out of his mouth is, "No I don't." So I knew this wasn't going to go well. He tells me about how my boat is super old and that my boat is really beat up and how the seals this and the seals that, goes on to tell me that I don't have an appointment and that he does not have time to work on my boat cause he doesn't know what he's looking at, I asked him, "Then why would you set at appointment with me if you didn't have time to work on my boat?" He got really loud after I asked him that and super Arrogant. He asked me to leave my information so they can call me back to set another appointment and i told him, "You already have my information, Heather set my appointment for today" and he proceeded to get super loud and now very rude. My question is, how does this MF'er still in business? Why would he think it's ok to talk to people that way??? I read all the reviews and I am sure that the positive reviews (there isn't many) are people he know. There was a "Heather" on there.... That's his employee. So I highly recommend anyone with any boat issue, go some place else. Dave is super rude, arrogant and not professional. He deserves no other business. read more

I'd rate Clovis Marine a minus four if I could. When I first took my boat in Heather told me that there was only going to be a two week waiting period. When I first met Dave he acted friendly and seemed to want to work on my boat. After three weeks I had not heard from them so I called to see what was going on. When I spoke to Heather she told me that the fire department brought in two boats but I was next in line. After a month of waiting I called and told they should have next week. Last week I called to see what was happening Dave was rude and told me he would get to me Thursday or Friday. When I called Friday afternoon they had already left for the day. On week number six I tried calling Monday and Tuesday but couldn't get anyone to answer, or call me back. Finally On Wednesday I drove down to pick my boat up on Wednesday and when I got there the place was all closed up so I walked around back and found the shop doors were open so I started calling. Dave finally answered the phone and I let him know I was in the back so he came around open the back gate. I told him I was tired of waiting and came for my boat. He told me he just started working on it and they've drained out all the oil. I told him he'd been putting me off and that I was tired of waiting for him do his job. After arguing I he filled my motors with back with oil and gave me back my boat. I dropped it off at Boulder Boats so they can go over the boat. Rob said he'll go over it and fix the rail on the trailer. May have it Friday or Saturday. read more

What a treat my experience was. I visited Clovis Marine on 02-26-2012 and spoke to Alicia in the parts Dept. I ask for a coil assembly for a Honda 15 horse outboard motor. I had the old part with me with no numbers on the unit. Alicia checked in her parts manuel and me, not knowing the year or the serial number with me, could not find the part. After looking at several models she found the coil assembly. Not knowing if this was the correct one, she took a picture and ordered the assembly. She called me today, 02-28 to tell me she had received the part and she was mailing the coil assembly to my mechanic who resides in Toll house, Ca. I am very pleased with the professionalism, the courtesy, and the great service i received. even though it should not make a difference, I was treated like a customer with a need and considering I live in San Jose, Ca. He was gruff from the get go and then started berating me because I set the outboard down on its side "You obviously don't know what you're doing.." and a host of other rude comments. Bought a used boat and on the test drive the propeller spun. After removing it I noticed it had no marking or numbers. As a longtime client of Belmont Marine, Ken finally hung up his hat. So now orphaned and needing a new shop I decided to drop by Pacific Marine with the prop. Incredible customer service. I was informed of the prop rotation and where the numbers would be located under the paint from a previous repair. A little acetone and 'BOOM' the numbers were exactly where he had indicated. Ordered the new prop. No charge, very knowledgeable, and friendly. I look forward to do some business which might pay some overhead! read more

I was working with the owner. I would not suggest this guy to anyone. He ordered a part that was not needed. I never received or took possession on the part. He returned the part to Mercury and he admitted that he received his credit on the part and is refusing to give me my money back. He literally said, "I am going to disappear from your life and you will never hear from him again and never get your money." Unfortunately, my plans of ever purchasing a boat from Clovis Marine went straight down the drain after my father told me how terribly he was treated for parking along the public street by Dave. This man had the audacity to come tell my dad off, tried to fight him, told him to go back to his country, and prevented my dad from backing up his truck with his trailer by placing his forklift right behind and underneath his trailer. I can't imagine the customer service Clovis Marine provides for their customers and future customers. Dave went above and beyond to help us with our boat. We couldn't get it running right and had Dave rebuild the card after purchasing various parts from him to try and fix our problems. He went out of his way to copy service manuals to help us reinstall the carb and put it together correctly. When we were out on the lake and having issues he was available by cell on the weekend to help us work through our problems. Great GUYS!!! read more

Clovis Marine saved my vacation I'm from So Cal. We vacation at Bass Lake every year for the last 35 years. My niece from Kentucky was finally able to come to the lake and join us. There are three families, 4 children and skies and pull toys that need a boat. With 4 days left of the vacation the fuel pump on my boat goes out. The staff at Clovis Marine were able to diagnose the problem, get the part and repair boat in less than 24 hours. They saved our vacation My brother in law has a similar boat and had a similar problem. The cost at the shop we normally deal with was just about identical. We bought our pontoon boat in San Diego. For some reason just after we got to Shaver Lake we noticed that our trailer tires were pretty bald. We called Clovis Marine and talked with Dave & Brenda. Brenda asked for pictures of the tires then she forwarded them to Sun Tracker who authorized for us to purchase comparable tires and they would reimburse us. Were very happy with their help and wouldn't hesitate to call them again if we need any work done on our boat. I forgot to mention that several people up at the lake recommended them. read more

Its been a long time since being in a place of business were the owner which I think is there mechanic was nothing less then better then everybody. I went with a spark issue on my 1995 Johnson outboard. He immediately said that we don't work on them and that it was nothing but a old motor. I said were calling a 1995 old. He said, old as dirt. He referred to my motor as old as dirt 3 or 4 times while I was asking questions and the need for help. I was giving a number to a mechanic who might beable to assist me. So I said have a good day and a good weekend. He said to me while I opened the exit door, go dig some worms up and I think what was his wife laughed. I jumped in my truck thinking what was that. This is what it was. Bold, arrogance, better then you, does not understand customers makes his business. The oldest thing in that room was him. He's behind in times. Ignorant. Many places to by a boat, motor, accessories etc. He's to dumb to realize such a simply fundamental as a businessman. Clovis Marine is run by horrible people. the owner is an angry, abusive, crude individual who began our encounter screaming at me because my family members had placed phone calls trying to see if the boat would be completed by the promised date. The owner had no intention of honoring his promise, and acted like any question about it was an affront. Our encounter ended with him dragging my boat into the street (not parked at the curb, in the street) and taking the pin off the hitch so it couldn't be moved. The neighboring business owner came out and complained this lunatic does that to customers several times each week, blocking his driveway. The police came, and they said they'd been there repeatedly. One policeman said the shop owner actually screamed at him (in uniform) including crude remarks about his mother and wife. I was exhausted from the encounter. There was way too much needless stress and I was treated extremely abusively. The boat sat in the sun, uncovered, for weeks. The servicing wasn't done. After reading google reviews, I'm thankful,this dishonest, incompetent, nasty man didn't work on the boat. read more

Very happy with Clovis Marine. Had a problem with our Honda 90 on our pontoon boat and had put it out of the water several times to get repair at other shops. It kept getting miss diagnosed and not fixed. Took it to Clovis Marine, Dave called back immediately with the problem and I authorized to purchase the parts and install. TERRIBLE... RUN AWAY FAST !!! This place and owner are awful. We have been here several times and today is our LAST ! We actually had to call the police to get our boat back. The owner was threaten violence and using foul language, something definitely wrong with him. He worked on our boat 6 months ago and replaced and fixed things, now that boating season is starting we couldn't get it running so we took it back. He went into a rage ( mind you we were willing to pay for the repairs ). Then he said it was the gas and and carburetor. When we told him he just fixed the carburetor. He threatened to throw us out of his shop and not work on the boat. We asked for the invoice and he threatened to get a hose and wash us down. He was ranting about how he new the Sheriff, Richard and his rights and throw us on the street where we belong. This guy has issues ... Ok. I am writing this because I feel personally attacked. I am the counter hello that was mentioned in the previous review. What is sad is that the people who write bad reviews most often do not tell the whole story. No one talks about maybe a phone conversation already had in which our customer is very rude and condescending to the person trying to help them. No one talks about how his wife wants to call people names and use foul language herself. We had to call the police because the woman would not stop using profanity and would not wait for me to generate an invoice for the work we had already done. I'm sorry but it's not my priority to stop everything I'm doing to appease the demands of someone who's extremely rude. We did what we could to help this couple with their boat. There was water in their fuel and we didn't put it there. We fix things, not break them. We didn't refuse to work on their boat they just wanted us to do it for free. This is the name of the game for business owners... can't please them all. And I'd like to see u count back change when some lady is there calling your boss names and getting in his face. I'd like to see someone count back change, period. Now days everyone has a computer to tell them what change to give. I counted it back to her so she would know she got the right change. These guys are terrible. I brought my newly purchased used boat in on Saturday for maintenance. I wanted to pick it up the following Friday morning, and asked them to call me on Monday if they couldn't get it done in time and they said they would, because 'the boss' would be back on Monday and he makes the schedule. I called Wednesday afternoon and they didn't know when they would have it done, were NOT apologetic at all and told me to "take my boat elsewhere if that wasn't good enough". If they would have called me on Monday and simply said "don't know if we can get it done by Friday, how does your schedule look to maybe do it a different time, really sorry about the inconvenience" then I would likely be a loyal customer for 10+ years because that is fair for them to do. All I was looking for was proactive and honest communication. Even when I picked it up, I was treated like I had a fungus. No questions as to why, no apology, no "we hope to see you back". Apparently they could care less about my business, so I intend not to give it to them. The nicest guy there was the one driving the forklift to bring my boat out! Don't go there, unless you wanted to be treated rudely and make it seem like you are annoying them by trying to give them your business. read more
