To start the process off for a new dog, there's a pretty comprehensive questionnaire. It's as much a questionnaire of the owner as it is about the dog, which is incredibly smart-- many dog owners are as much a problem as their untrained dog! After reviewing my answers, I got a call from the staff, getting Sombra and me scheduled up for a trial day. They managed my expectations, letting me know what would happen if Sombra turned out to have trouble at KTD, or if they needed me to come get her early. I booked a date for the trial, and off we went. The drop off was seamless. I got checked in, they said hello to Sombra, and she was escorted off to the daycare. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and gave me a little card with a phone number to text if I wanted updates. They let me know what to expect, and when I could come pick Sombra up. Hours later, I come by to pick her up. The staff gave me the sitrep on how things went-- Sombra wasn't a great fit for the first play group, so they moved her out into a quieter one, where she fit in great! She spent the day playing with them, and things went smoothly. After the trial day, Sombra was approved to come by without appointment. I was really impressed with their website and reviews. I called and had a long chat with Jenn. I knew that our dog would be taken care of. When we arrived for his week long stay, she met us outside and was so excited to meet our boy. I instantly felt comfortable. Throughout his week stay, Jenn sent me daily "proof of life" pictures, videos, and messages. They also disregarded any and all of his formal training. The facility isn't clean and the staff lacks the proper communication skills. It was a Saturday and we were frantically looking for a vet clinic to help, that was open, and chose WellHaven. We ended up having to put her to rest after 16 1/2 years with our Doxie. I cannot adequately express how wonderful, and patient, both the vet and the tech were. They even went above and beyond in helping make arrangements to get her home to us after her cremation. Not good that he missed an open one inch wound a few inches to the side of the larger wound. He said he checked her thoroughly. The ensuing infection required reopening the larger wound as well to clean that out again and then antibiotics and then stitching both wounds shut. Wish they had done better, my trust in vet "hospitals" is certainly diminished to a low level, at least this one.
