The shop itself is very unassuming - a diamond in the rough. Juanita (or who I assume is Juanita? Should have asked! ... ) was very friendly. She made us feel very welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. We tried the taco mix, pork and chicken tacos. The tortillas were rustic. They come with an array of sides (& plenty of them!) including a pineapple/cucumber salsa, a cabbage slaw, some diced onions, coriander, tomatillo with avocado and chipotle sauce. There was also a couple of Juanita's home made sauces on the table to use. We enjoyed it all! Although quite full we couldn't resist trying the salted caramel Cheezecake. It was really delicious, thick and rich but well balanced with the addition of yoghurt, honey, bitter chocolate and praline served with it. This is a vegan option FYI! BTW - Juanita's sells delicious sauces and spices to take away ... we just had to grab one. We'll definitely head back.

We also had the prawn and cheese empanada also delicious! For mains we shared the 4 hour slow cooked pork on a bed of mash with a crunchy slaw topped with avocado. I had eyes off the desert cabinet but I was just to full to try any of the delicious cakes, pastries or nougat. The menu is Latin American inspired small plates, so we ordered a couple of bites from the bar snacks portion to share as a group - beef shin empanadas, guacamole and chips, and polenta chips. All were tasty, the guac and chips were spot on and I particularly like the polenta chips as they were quite thin and crunchy rather than the chunky-burn-your-mouth out trying to eat it type. I'd come back and give dinner a go. I wasn't drinking so can't comment much on the booze available, but I did see that they do have happy hour specials going and mulled wine for winter. Probably somewhere I'd come more for a beer or margarita than a wine. They have a lot of shows and events here, their web site features a lot of fun Latin-American inspired music acts from mariachi bands to flamenco and Brazilian performers if you're looking for something more upbeat.
