Despite living in this area for 15 years, I had no clue a club like Feathers was so nearby. Thanks to my good friend Eloy, a superstar Yelp Elite, who organized a meetup with few other Elites at Feathers. He also told us about the parking lot across the club where everyone parks conveniently to visit the club. We went to the club around 11pm, cover was $10 per person. The security at the door was impressive as the security personnel checked our IDs and had metal detector. Upon entering, we saw the club had free for guests to celebrate their 47th anniversary. The club had two floors. Both floor had bars and separate DJs jamming. First floor was more for hangout and gossip. Second floor had the larger dance floor where most people were partying. The DJ on second floor had some really good bits, but at times some dull ones too. There was also security personnel on second floor as well. They also got an outdoor backyard like place with benches and shacks for guests to hangout. Here they also placed a bar for guests to hangout and have drinks. Overall we had a wonderful hour and a half here. We had drinks, lots of dance groves and finally some nice chit chat in the outdoor space. Now that we had the experience, we will come to Feathers more often than going all the way to the city for clubbing. read more

Honestly I never knew this place until a Yelp friend brought us for a fun night. $10 entrance fee. 2 floors and an outside area. All playing music. We were mostly on the 2nd floor. Music was great. Mix of millennial and current music. Go-Go boys came in around midnight. That was a wonderful surprise. 2 bars on top, 1 at the first level and 1 at outside area. Bartenders were very friendly and efficient. Drink was good. It was the 47 anniversary so there was some free food, which was cool but I didn't eat any. Unwelcoming and Overpriced - Disappointing Visit Stop at Feather for a one and done and was met with a series of red flags right off the bat. There's no signage saying you can't park near the venue, yet I was rudely told to move by a man in a black Jeep Wrangler--no greeting, just attitude. A simple "Hi, how are you?" would've gone a long way. There was a cover fee early in the night, despite the place being completely dead. Upstairs looked open, but when I walked up, I was abruptly told it was closed. I mentioned I was just showing the venue to a new guest, but the staff responded with cold, uncomfortable energy. The second you pay the cover and walk in, the vibe makes you want to leave. It felt like customers weren't actually welcome. One of the bartenders even recorded me without my consent--completely unacceptable. Everyone kept saying we were "too early" -- but if the bar is open, why treat paying guests like a problem? Either welcome customers or don't open your doors. The website listed no events, yet staff kept referencing shows later in the night. It felt misleading. Drinks were overpriced, and when I ordered a Red Bull, I wasn't even given the full can. That's not just cheap--it's shady. Overall, this place did not feel inclusive or friendly. The first time I went here I met someone and had a good time. But the second time, once I admitted I was non binary, it was all over. I had been given a gummy earlier that night and I needed to wait for it to cool down before I could explain why I was feeling off. But instead they isolated me upstairs, which is fine, but after that it got much worse. The drag dancers began to body Shame me like I wasn't right across the bar from them. They acted like just because I was coming there to meet other people and tried i. My socially awkward way to ask about the show upstairs that I was flirting and I'm fake trans person looking to flirt with everyone because apparently non binary people don't exist to them. I literally hate initiating flirting, for that reason mostly, and wait till people approach me. All I wanted was to at least know other queer people but I couldn't articulate that in my defense. Yes I made a mistake but they exacerbated it instead of being understanding because, I'm, to them, a trans trender from tik Tok or whatever they think I do. It's one thing to get it from straight people but to be humiliated by your own people? That really hurt. They even made AI music that had lyrics making fun of the parts of my life I had explained to the bartender, as if being financially unsuccessful meant I was the stereotype of a slacker. There wasn't much I could do at that point everyone made up their minds about who I am and what I am and there was no changing them. They also recorded what was on my phone and what my car looked like and made fun of those as well. I had just lost weight and was gaining body confidence and now I just feel unattractive and pointless again. It was somewhat traumatic for me as I've been fighting for acceptance my entire life. But these people think it you don't pass you aren't really trans. It's upsetting to know this still happens as adults act like gossip teens read more

I sadly will not be supporting this business because on Vinny. We came in on a random weeknight, no one in the bar. There was a $5 cover and our drinks were $11 each (didn't know until after the fact of the situation I'm about to discuss).. My friend and I had 4 each and at one point Vinny felt like he was rushing us out. That ended up being okay because we didn't want to stay late but his tone when he asked "are you gonna close out orrrr" when at no point did we gesture we were about to leave. The situation happened when I went to close out my tab the total came out to $111 whenever Vinny brought me the machine. The machine read custom tip so I went back on the machine so I could automatically include a 20% tip but the only options were 1% 3% and 5% which I thought was oddly low considering it was a service job so I went back to the custom tip and put on a $20 tip then sent a text message receipt to my phone when I was reviewing the receipt it showed that he had already included gratuity. when I asked him why he didn't tell me that gratuity was already included. His response was." you should've checked the receipt." It felt very much like he was trying to pull one over on us. Again, won't be returning. I absolutely love this place. This is a very safe queer operated and owned space and the staff is beyond kind. Eddie, Vinny, Jeff, Ray, Alex, Chris and so many more staff members have created a memorable experience. Everyone here is so kind and my boyfriend and I always feel protected by security and staff. My boyfriend and I come almost every weekend, there's always events whether karaoke or drag shows and bingo there's always something to do there even on weekdays. My one critique is the music. Being a frequent customer, the music gets old and there isn't many new main streams songs put in the playlist. There's so many club songs by artists like Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Doja Cat, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Kesha, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles and so many more! I told them the color and the brand of the coat and the coat check lady told them that she knew which one was My coat because it was hanging in between my husband and friends and they still would not give it back to me. we left the place without my coat under very cold weather. read more

This place has been a staple environment for over 40 years serving predominantly the LGBTQ community. We went yesterday on a beautiful warm evening for few hours with friends. Before entering the place, the security staff asked each patron to empty out their pockets and checked with the metal detector ever since the night club Pulse in Orlando. Then another worker will check your id as it's 18 to get in and 21 to drink. The normal entrance fee is $7 unless some special event which is higher. Every paid customer is given a wrist band. For those going there frequently, the staff knows you by face and by name sort of like "a gay Cheers". The DJ plays the current modern music as well as retro. The dance floor is always packed starting after midnight. We loved coming here as the entrance fee and drinks are cheap with a friendly crowd and never have to venture into the city. They do have theme nights, and what not for certain days of the week. The dj's can be hit or miss, but the goal is to be so drunk you don't care. I have had a BLAST every single time I've come and yes I'm -dare I say - Straight! lol Actually I recommend it to male and female straight or not, because the crowd is not aggressive or pushy, so it's definitely people friendly. Came here for the hell of it on a Saturday after a (female) friend's birthday dinner. I'm not gay, but I have no problem being around homosexuals. There's a cover, it was $7 that night. Immediately upon entering, you'll find yourself in a bar area, with some "lounge" seating off to the side. There are two bars and some stairs leading up to another bar and a larger dance floor. Drinks are cheap as hell. My drinks from the downstairs bar all cost $5, for a beer, a shot, or a well drink. The upstairs bar cost $6 per well drink, but whatever. Music is mostly Top 40, but there are a good amount of people dancing. The crowd is gay. I can't think of another word for it. If you're uncomfortable getting hit on by gay guys or seeing guys walking around in their underwear, don't go to a gay bar. read more

I've been here twice now, once for a friends birthday a few years ago, and now more recent for another girls birthday. This place is wild. It will be empty at 10:30pm, but by 11pm its honestly packed. Security is tight when you first enter, they will scan your ID. There is usually a $10 cover, but do not fret, that money gets you a 1 way ticket to a very drunken night. Drinks here are what every bar should be be, strong and cheap. You can get any mixed drink; gin, vodka, rum you name it and it will probably be $5. WHICH IS CHEAPER THAN BEERS AT MOST PLACES. When you first walk in there is a cozy more relaxed area on the main floor with seating and a small bar, music is at a minimum. Upstairs they have a large square bar adjacent to the main dance floor. There is always a DJ spinning some music and the dance floor will be packed by 11:30pm. There will be a large mix of both men and women so do not think otherwise. The bathrooms are small and kind of ehh, they are usually clean at least. Also you need to park across the street because they do not have a parking lot which is also another negative. Honestly not a deal breaker though. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. This place is a blast and you will have a wild night of drinking and dancing. been wanting to come here since my friends had such a good experience when they came here a couple of months ago. so i seized the opportunity when my friend wanted to come here for his birthday. there's only parking across the street at the train station and you have to walk over the big street to get to the club. the club looks small on the outside but there's actually 2 floors. at first, they said if we test for HIV we can get in for free, but there was no one managing the HIV van so we just paid the $7 to get inside. there is security outside to make sure no one brings in anything dangerous into the club. once inside, there's two bars downstairs and two bars upstairs. at first it wasn't too too crowded but as the night progressed, it got really packed. unfortunately i didn't have a great time as i wish to. the dj was absolutely horrendous and did not know how to do his job. the drinks were very watered down and some of the fruit cocktails tasted spoiled. to top it off, a lot of people were touching/putting their mouths on the dancer's genitals and it was very inappropriate and not a scene i would have wanted to see in public. overall, not pleased. it could have been the wrong crowd, wrong dj, wrong bartender but idk if i would want to come back again. read more

I wouldn't normally trade a night of dancing in NYC for a night out in NJ, but my best friend and I decided to check out "Feather's" one Thursday. As apparently one of two gay places in North Jersey,* Feather's juxtapositions all the gay bars in Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen I've come to know. While NYC gays are finely manicured, if not a bit bitchy on occasion the gays inhabiting Feather's are much more laid back if not altogether a bit awkward. Unaware that it was "Latin Night" at Feather's I was in for a treat, complete with a drag show and booty shaking to Shakira, learning to take my first shot of Tequila,**(***) and losing my jacket. This is where the story gets sad, not because I was totally sober, and a merging of being a space case and hard of hearing led to my jacket getting lost; not because I've had the coat for years and dubbed it "Pet;" and not because it was ridiculously cold out; but because it was MY token jacket. I HAD to get it back And easily enough I did, I called Feather's the next night and picked it up, everything was in the pockets and after euphorically hugging the entire coat room staff and the bouncer for finding my coat, I can take on another winter with "Pet" _______________ *Deko, the OTHER place is only gay on Friday nights, but for people like me, who are gay all week long it's nice to have a place like Feather's **It was Latin Night after all ***It was only $4, so drinking here wont burn a hole in your pocket. read more

Straight guys, I know what you're thinking. "Why the hell would I go to a gay club?" Answer: nice atmosphere, great music, cheap drinks, and surprisingly enough, lots of cute straight girls. Wednesdays are $2 drinks before 11, Thursdays are Latin nights. I just went last Thursday for the first time in over a year and was pleasantly surprised by all the renovations they did. Lookin good, Feathers! There was also a short drag/comedy show which served as a hilarious icebreaker. Drinks are strong and cheap! $3 on Thurs for well drinks, they're small but don't skimp on the alcohol. There's several bars on each floor for your lushy convenience. A club with no dress code? Yes that's right boys, you can wear tank tops right along with the girls (or no shirt at all, if you so please. It does get hot and sweaty on the top floor.) Always a great crowd! DJs play great music and do an awesome job of getting everybody pumped. Everyone is super friendly and fun, which makes Feathers a great place for making new friends. Stop making assumptions!
