Two months ago I started at Club Pilates. I had never done pilates before. I love the format - classes for 12, direct adjustment from instructors when needed and a clean and calm place to work on my strength. I had encouragement early on in my journey from the staff directly via text and got tips on the best way to schedule. All classes start and end on time. I have taken classes from 5 different instructors and they are all very well trained and give a consistent workout. Because the classes are small (12 people) it may be hard to get in, so i suggest the unlimited class membership. You can easily book out classes for a few weeks and you can also waitlist for classes. I know there are some reviews about issues with getting into classes on a month to month basis. I think it's worth the upgrade to unlimited. I have had ZERO issues booking classes. I got a text message yesterday offering me a free class, so I responded and signed up. The morning of my free class someone called to say "oh, you've been here before...and you never joined" basically why are you trying again? Very passive aggressive. Why offer a free class to people who you don't want coming to your studio? Sorry I didn't join the last time, I was still deciding what I wanted to do. Club Pilates has excellent facility. Instructors are all willing to refine & encourage participants to push their body but they always put safety first. So as a member of CP - Promenade for over 5 years I would encourage you to give us a try. Some of the negative reviews are kinda silly. Most are based on one visit. If you don't like a certain instructor, take a different class! I would not be a member for over 5 years if the studio/instructors were as bad as a few people have stated. We have an asian instructor & you do have to develop an ear for her cues but she is actually one of the more knowledgeable & experienced instructors we have. read more

***BEWARE HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND PREJUDICED BEHAVIOR BY STAFF, HORRIBLE RECENT EXPERIENCE.***** Despite my anticipation of a rejuvenating and empowering experience, I encountered several issues that significantly disgusted me from the class. I recently attended a Pilates class led by a girl named Michelle with hopes of possibly signing up for a month long class. First of all, she is not even worthy enough to be called an instructor based on her outrageous behaviors and the way she talks to people with zero respect. From the beginning of the class, she talked very fast and her microphone was very, VERY muffled. Half of our class barely even knew what we were doing because she moved and talked really fast. All of us were just looking at each other for guidance since the instructor herself did not check on everyone and fix our postures. Mind you, this is an introduction beginner's class. Instead of providing clear and encouraging guidance, Michelle appeared impatient and condescending specifically towards me, which made me and others around me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Every time she spoke to me, she would raise her voice sternly as if I was her child? Wtf? I observed her behaviors and her tone of voice throughout the class. Whenever she spoke to the other girls in the class, she spoke to them in the most angelic voice. I was dismayed by the lack of respect from her exhibited by others and they even pointed out to me. She specifically came to me and talked very rudely and her demeanor throughout the class was extremely unprofessional and disengaged. She was very condescending towards only me to the point where the class had to pause, because I had to call her out on her behavior in front of the class. This is such an embarrassing situation where a student has to tell the instructor to fix her tone of voice. Like what? Absolutely unacceptable and outrageous. She said a short unapologetic and the fakest sorry ever. After I called her out, she dare did not even come close to my side or even made eye contact with me. At the end of class, I was so turned off and disgusted that I did not even want to have anything to do with Club Pilates. I did not even do anything to Michelle, just showed up to class only to be treated like this? Michelle left a horrible taste in my mouth and the company itself for hiring someone like her. I approached the front desk to let them know about my experience. In the middle of my conversation with them, Michelle rudely walked in between without saying excuse me or acknowledging her behaviors and apologizing. At this point, my mouth dropped. I literally had no words how someone could be so unapologetic and just walk past you like that. I expected a more positive and nurturing environment at Club Pilates, unfortunately, my recent experience fell far short of these expectations and left me feeling disheartened and discouraged. I am not surprised that this place is still up and running based on the horrible encounters others had. If you want to be talked with respect and be treated like an actual human being, save yourself the trouble and never, EVER even go here. read more

I've been practicing Pilates on the reformer for over 3 years, and was bummed to move away from my regular studio in SF. I found this place on Yelp and there aren't many options for Pilates in the area, so I decided to give it a shot. I don't think the few reviews on here are representative of the studio overall; there seemed to be a lot of regulars there who really enjoy it, so it's worth trying out. However, it's not a good fit for me. I am used to 4 or 6 person classes, and they have a capacity of 12. It's fine but you just won't get as much attention during class. Additionally, although they have various levels of class, they seem to offer mostly beginner classes. I don't feel like they're challenging enough for me and I won't grow in my practice as I would like. Plus, the few intermediate classes they offer are during hours I can't attend. Their earliest class is at 8:30 and I believe they close by 7pm, so the classes aren't ideal for my schedule. They move through different apparatus during the class, which is fine, but there wasn't a seamless flow to the classes. I never felt like I was working any muscle enough. Finally, the studio has a more corporate feel. I felt like they were really pushing their membership after the first class, and I felt like I was at a big gym. They also have a $50 enrollment fee for membership, and they charge you the enrollment fee again if you ever cancel your membership and then rejoin. I have never heard of an enrollment fee for a Pilates, barre, or yoga studio. It's $199 for unlimited membership (you're locked in for 3 months and need to cancel 30 days in advance), $189 for 8 classes in a month, or $35 per class, so it's not particularly inexpensive. They require toe socks and they sell them for about $18 a pair. The instructors were fine, although a little hard to hear even with the mics--muffled I suppose. Jenny at the front desk was friendly but the younger blonde woman didn't even acknowledge me when I came or when I left. Overall, if you're brand new to Pilates and can come often, then this could be a good spot for you. But if you've been practicing Pilates for a while, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

I have been doing Pilates for 7 years and it has transformed my mindset for body strength. Each and every class is different and engages the core in different ways. Every instructor I have taken classes from brings solid expertise and body awareness to teach us PROPER movement to give us the best strength through movement plus protecting us from moving incorrectly preventing injuries. I highly recommend Michelle who actually teaches the Masters Classes - she is patient, knows the technical aspect, and as a student of Pilates I want to move through each series with precision so I get the mind-body connection needed for strength, growth and physical fitness. There is not one instructor I would not take a class from here at South Providence or Strawberry Hill- these instructors are some of the best in the business!! read more

This space has a bit more wiggle room in between machines, but does have that good ole bbq smell in the evenings. (Right next door). I love this place. All the instructors are so kind and helpful. It has truly changed my life. My back has never felt so good and I feel stronger than I did in my 30s. I have NO issues getting in classes, like other reviewers have suggested. And I've never once been treated rudely. Michelle is one of my favorite instructors as is Kelsey. I absolutely love going to South Charlotte Club Pilates! My day is not complete without a morning class and I have been an unlimited member for many years. Lisa and the staff are super friendly, full of knowledge and treat the members like family. I took trial class of 30min and also did 3 of their 50min class in a week to make sure I am able to do this before I sign up. I do agree front desk has no interaction with the client, one of them didn't even care to greet me when i came for the class. There were 2 ladies at the front desk who were more pleasant and helpful. others did not care. Instructors paid attention to my knee injury since i had already mentioned to her. MK and Maureen really care for you as a instructor. I wish they add more FLOW 1 classes in the evening. I want to join but not sure what's the reason behind these negative comments. read more

My friends I went to an intro Pilates class on June 1st. None of us had any experience with Pilates and was so very looking forward to the class. Unfortunately, we did NOT have a good experience AT ALL. First, it was very difficult to understand the instructor due to the fact of poor audio and feedback. Secondly, despite it being a class of 7 people the instructor was basically NON EXISTENT when it came to my friends and I. Anytime the instructor did make an effort to come to us she was excessively curt and RUDE. She was very condescending and overall just UNPROFESSIONAL. She would give attention to a select few people in the class but would never make the time to assist US even though we clearly needed it. After the class, we made a point to go to the front desk to make a complaint and explained our experience. The instructor saw and overheard what was being said and did not seem to care one bit! Disgusting! We were severely disappointed by the way that we were treated as well as our overall experience and will NOT be coming back. The instructors name was Michelle. I hope this gets noticed and that she receives the proper training and professional development that she NEEDS in order to represent the business. read more

And one of the reasons I left was because some of the instructors just wanted to spend time with people that went there on a regular basis and really weren't as kind and nice to the people that did not come every day, and the manager was not always pleasant either so I thought I'm not gonna spend my money. This is a scam. You can't get into classes and was told be patient. Signed up but asked to cancel after 2 1/2 weeks. Enjoyed the 3 classes I took, but this is ridiculous. I completed the cancellation form early enough to not charge me and I already paid for a month with only getting 3 classes. I'm now charged $159 again! I've emailed and was told by Millie I was all set. I guess I'm all set for them to scam more money from me. This is the worst company/business I've ever dealt with. And unprofessional. I started pilates around June last year and I absolutely love my experience with their flexible classes. The instructors and staff are really friendly and helpful! My challenge intially was booking classes due to the high demand and was advised to book 'backwards from end of each payment cycle'. I have been a member of South Providence Club Pilates since 2018 and have loved it. I am an unlimited class member and have had no problems getting into classes. The classes are always different with multiple workout options. The staff is great, very knowledgeable,accommodating , and fun to work with. Jenny works at the front desk most of the time when I am there, alway with a smile on her face. Niki, Michelle, and Sinead are the instructors of the classes I attend. They are all wonderful and a real asset to the company. I look forward to going to each class, it's a perfect way to start my day feeling physically as well as mentally refreshed! read more

I'd agree that class purchasing is somewhat rigid, but if you're committed to going twice a week, it is worth it. Classes are great for beginners and the app makes it super easy to schedule. What a terrible way to handle business! Despite the reviews I still signed up with the hopes I wouldn't experience the same. BUT clearly I was wrong. The run around they give you for months at a time is ridiculous! The employees will tell you Lisa will call you back but she wont. Instead she will send you an email that has nothing to do with your actual concern. Lisa specifically will try to make you feel special and get you to join and do more and more classes while she takes your money. I had to file a complaint on the website and put a stop payment just so they wouldn't continue to take my money. The complaint went nowhere btw! So disappointed in how they handle business. I was looking forward to rejoining. *please dont respond with one of your bs automated replies about how you value me as a client. I spent 4 months and countless hours contacting Club Pilates South Providence by sending a message in their mobile app, calling and emailing the studio, and leaving a Facebook message on the corporate Club Pilates Facebook page. I love pilates but you would be better off somewhere else! I was one of the first members and this place has certainly changed! I wish i could negative stars! First, be aware of the level of certification your instructor has. They have apprentice instructors teaching all levels without supervision during class. One instance, the instructor asked us to do something I knew was incorrect. Had I done it, I could have easily gotten injured. Pilates takes a long time to learn and these instructors are sped through the program and they don't share their experience level. That said, many of the long time instructors are great, try to get in their classes. The biggest problem here-management! It is horrible! The manager is not friendly, customer service focused and will not reply to emails on certain situations that don't benefit them. They don't see the big picture that a happy client is a long time client. I am leaving only because of the manager. When I started, it was such a different experience and they would work with you to see what best fits your needs. Customer service now is nonexistent. Totally tuned off all the locations and the franchise because of this. If they treat long time, loyal members this way, how do they get new clients? they are unorganized, rude, and if you bring up an issue be prepared, it's bad! Many of the first members are long gone. The convenience was nice but now so not worth it. There are so many great pilates studios in Charlotte which I've visited and you will be much better off attending class somewhere else. You will learn more, be safe, and enjoy the experience, which is what pilates is all about. Not whatever this situation has become! read more

The management team here is terrible. I joined for 7 months and while the instructors were good, unless you join unlimited it's difficult to get your monies worth based on how their month to month system works and when you can sign up for classes. There is no way to override the system if you have remaining classes and you have to wait til your renewal date to book for the next months sessions. Often that means by the time you can register, your class is full. I asked to cancel my membership in May (kids home from school and knew I wouldn't get to class) and they have yet to let me out of my contract. Sadly they have ruined any future relationship I may have enjoyed with their business. I give them a NEGATIVE 5. read more

BEWARE there is a reason this business has so many negative reviews. This uncaring greedy manager/ owner is more concerned with making a buck than doing right by customers. I was injured (SI/ back) in one of their classes my first week and still had to pay for the entire month $199, they paused it for the next month even though they initially did not want to while I was in physical therapy and chiropractor for treatment. They rebilled me another $199 so I tried one class and only made it through half the class due to reinjuring myself. My dr told me pilates is going to be too much strain for the next few months. They have refused to refund my money and are insisting I pay an additional $199 for next month or pay another $100 for early termination! So they essentially feel it is good business to charge someone who was injured in one of their classes and unable to return $199 for half a class, plus an extra $100 in addition to the $199 paid for a few times before I was injured the first month. I was a member of another club pilates before moving here and have been with numerous other studios long term over the past 15 years and never have I encountered someone like this. The ironic thing about all this is, if she would have handled this professionally instead of gouging me from the beginning, I would likely have been a member for many years after I fully rehabbed my injury and she would have made exponentially more $ from me. read more

i have been trying to get Lisa the manager to call her collection company and let them know i had cancelled my mebership prior to starting classes and do not owe any money but she refuses to take my calls and contact them. It shows that i am cancelled in their system but the front desk receptionist has no authority to let the billing side know this. Also i was schduled for a personal session with Lisa and she cancelled on me i hour before the lesson. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. the reason i wanted a private because one of the instructors in the class my husband and I were taking just shouted out the commands and didn't pay attention to the fact that we were struggling to do one of the exercises because we were not familiar with the move. I have been a member of this Club Pilates studio for about six weeks. Seriously one of the best decisions I have made for myself. The instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, challenging and creative (every class is unique). The staff is welcoming and calls you by name. After just a short time I have noticed changes in my body.
