This is a major plus since many studios pack in students like sardines, and form is sacrificed. I have heard through the years of people injuring themselves through yoga, which should not happen, provided you have a seasoned instructor with a strong knowledge base; enter Marita. It is hard to imagine one person trying to adjust and correct 35 bodies! This is not the case at Kingwood Yoga though, because none of the class sizes ever reach past 10! Each individual receives feedback about their pose, which is very encouraging. If one cannot do an inversion, then Marita will modify one so that everyone is doing an inversion, as an example. Marita has been a practitioner of yoga for some time and it is apparent based on her knowledge and safe practice. Another plus of Kingwood Yoga is that the fees are upfront and posted on the website. Full financial discolure is important to me, and I will assume to you as well; there are no contracts. Every gym, self-defense, MMA gym, you name it ALWAYS has a contract and they get you inside for your 'complementary session' only to hound you as you try to escape after hearing the terms. In a world of shoddy business ethics, I have the utmost respect for Marita and how she handles her business practices. She honest and fair. I cannot rate, or speak of, the other services Kingwood Yoga offers, such as prenatal yoga, children's yoga, or massage services available there. I have only attended the regular yoga classes. But my guess is that they are just a brilliant as the 'regular' class, only modified for their respective populations. However, I do feel like I can speak briefly about Marita's teacher training course, as she has some of her students lead the classes, but they are under her supervision, so yes she is physically present, and watching. After a couple of the students graduated, they filled in while for a week and they were amazing, holding to the Iyengar Yoga tradition, yet bringing their own spirit and creativity into the class. I cannot speak highly enough about Kingwood Yoga. Marita is absolutely amazing, and that same spirit comes through in her student teachers too.

There are several different class options at different lengths, from 15 to 45min (depending on the workout). There's yoga, Pilates, rowing, spin, etc. each class is in a small heated studio with fit up to 3 people, but often times you're alone. You can change the temperature from inside or outside the studio! I tried iso, and it was a fantastic workout in 36ish mins. I kept the temperature around 125-130 throughout. Do note you need a specific yoga mat that can withstand the head. However, they have some there to rent!

I'm OBSESSED with Club Pilates, and no, this isn't sponsored--just a happy member who wouldn't dare…read moregatekeep. First off, Club Pilates is nothing like your traditional gym. Pilates targets muscles I didn't even know existed. Like, who knew your inner thighs could feel this sore, but in the best way possible? And don't even get me started on my abs--they've never looked this good, and I've been trying to meet them for years at the gym with no luck. The best part? You get this magical transformation from a 50 min class AND I DONT have to do endless squats that aren't "squatting" anymore? I didn't even think I could tone my butt like I have! And I've worked out for years. The instructors, Mara, Therese, Terri, and Dinee are ALL incredible. They genuinely love what they do and will gently (but firmly) fix your form when you're accidentally inventing new Pilates moves.lol The studio itself is cozy and clean--none of that overwhelming gym chaos here. Perfect combo imo. Instructors are personable, friendly and well-trained. The classes always feel like a safe space as well. As a woman, sometimes going to the gym can be a tad bit uncomfortable, unless of course, you like that sort of attention. If you know, you know. Pilates is a class usually consisting of mostly women. Occasionally, you will come across a man trying out a class, but they are there to workout and relax, not get your number. Anywho! Try out a class for free and see if you like it! Intro class is free and they usually have membership specials so make sure to chat with the front desk before you leave. Enjoy! :)
