Studio Poise is truly the best of the best. I started coming here in the fall of 2014, shortly…read moreafter graduating college and moving home. I found out that trying to fit work outs into my full time work out schedule was not an easy thing to do. I didn't have the motivation to go to the gym after work, so I bought a groupon for studio poise and signed up for some classes (if I didn't go, I would just be wasting my own money). Two and a half years later, I'm an unlimited member, attending multiple classes a week (sometimes even multiple in one day). Here is why I love this place SO much: 1. The people: Danielle, the owner, and all her instructors are amazing. Not only do they give a killer workout, they care genuinely about all of the clients coming through the door. After attending only a few classes, they will know you by name. Not only are the instructors amazing, the other women that attend SP are amazing as well. My sister also attends a lot of classes with me, and we have made so many friends (of all ages) here. 2. The classes: First of all, there are SO many different classes, which I love. There is truly something for everyone - from mat classes, to barre, to kickboxing, zumba, and HIIT classes (with new classes being created an added), you'll never get bored. I take a different class every day. Each class is difficult in its own way, and you'll definitely feel like you've got your butt kicked (in a good way). The instructors always offer modifications throughout the class so hat you can adapt to your own fitness level. 3. The price point: When I was first looking around at studios, I couldn't find a better deal than Studio Poise. They the least expensive studio in the area, and you get SO much for your money. The unlimited membership is $150 per month (but you'll get $10 off if you attend 15 classes a month), and you can attend as many classes a month as you want. So if you're attending upwards of 30 classes a month (which is usually how many classes women with this membership take), that's only $5 per class. It's truly a steal. Studio Poise is my happy place, and you should definitely try it out if you live on the north shore!

You get an awesome workout, regardless of your current fitness level! This is my happy place!!read more

I typically stick to other studios mostly because I agree with a lot of reviews here. There just isn't a friendly, welcoming vibe. I have only been twice to the Danvers location and a few times to the old Woburn location so things there may have changed from a couple years ago. From the limited experience I have here I have never been greeted with a smile by any staff. This doesn't mean that the instructors haven't been nice, but there's something odd about there not being a designated person who greets you, and if you're new, points you in the right direction and sets you up for success. I still give them a 4 because my experience here is limited and the workouts are excellent and the prices are less than other studios nearby. If you want to sweat and shake definitely take a class. If you're new to barre, make sure to stretch a ton before class and after class... And bring water!!

A few of the instructors rubbed me the wrong way during class, weren't at all helpful in caring to fix mine or anyone's form (knees waaaaay over toes, anyone?! They were more focused on their own workout!), and I didn't really feel welcome as a brand new client only having mediocre barre experience at best. As a Zumba Fitness instructor, I know about keeping clientele coming to classes, and it's about making their experience in your class fun & comfortable. In certain classes, that was the case, in others I felt less than accepted. Probably why I haven't returned. Thought I lost my shoes there once (don't know why because they were neatly placed on the shoe rack before I went into the studio), but because of the carelessness of their clientele, they were found under soggy snow boots and various pairs of sneakers. Not the instructors/owner's faults...but really? Somebody must've taken my shoes off the rack and threw them around somehow. It began lightly flurrying outside and I didn't have socks or anything to even wear outside as you do their method here barefoot; I went to the other studio to see if someone mistakingly took mine and the instructor there didn't seem to even care that I lost them (yes, I may have been slightly interrupting a class but I summoned her very quietly with a sincere & sad "OMG help" face). Eh, I found them regardless. Much to nobody else's care but my own. Bummer.

This studio has the most welcoming, laid back, vibe. The attendees are a diverse, friendly bunch. The beginner level classes are doable for out of shape people like me (and 20-somethings alike). Since they moved into the Lake St. Peabody location (6 years ago), I cannot imagine going anywhere else. The studio is a huge gorgeous room with windows all around, a giant fireplace, wood beams/walls in a mansion beside a lake. In the summer, classes can be held on the long porch. I've seen amazing sunsets, snowfall, deer, eagle, foxes etc. It's something very special versus the cramped box-shape rooms of most yoga studios. There are classes for beginners, all levels and strong flow as well as specialty classes, retreats and pop up trainings. If you are just beginning your yoga journey or well down the road this is a wonderful place to practice.
