They create a very welcoming, inclusive space where I have never felt judged or less than. I have always felt safe under their instruction, knowing that they may challenge me, but that they would never push me to injury. They normalize and encourage the use of props, modifications, etc, allowing everyone to explore each pose in their body without forcing it or feeling discouraged. I have also had several work related injuries during my time at NTY, and the instructors have always helped me to modify my practice, without making me feel like the center of attention. This community is truly one of the best I have ever encountered! I have always loved yoga, and have attended many classes at different studios over the years. As a plus sized person, I often felt intimidated, judged, and self conscious at these other studios. At NTY I felt immediately welcomed, safe, and comfortable. They offer different types of classes, so that you can pick the best fit for your personal goals. There are people at all levels present in each class, and I have never once felt like I didn't belong. If you are at all like me, maybe trying yoga for the first time, or feeling unsure in a new fitness environment, this is the place for you! Looking to take your fitness goals to the next level, or improve your flexibility without hurting yourself? You are welcome here! Maybe you are trying to incorporate more mindfulness into your fitness routine, or maybe you just want a place to relax for an hour? This is the place! I can't say enough about how NTY has improved my mental and physical wellbeing. My life is forever changed for the better by my time here. So come take a class! You won't regret it, and maybe I will see you there! We are happy to have you!

Not gonna lie, I struggled in the last 20 minutes of the class but when we were given a cold, essential oil-infused towel at the end, I felt like it made it all worth it. I appreciated that throughout the whole session we were told different modifications we could do and I felt very at ease. The facility itself is right next to a great coffee shop I worked at before the class and the parking lot has plenty of parking spots. Inside there were showers, lockers to put away personal items, and all the yoga essentials like mats, towels, and yoga blocks. Also went to my first sound bath and it was great - the owner was very sweet and really cares about each person that comes to the studio. Highly recommend checking out a class and/or sound bath!

I just attended my first session at Yoga Balance, a Fundamentals class with Tracy. I was worried…read morethat I wouldn't be able to do everything, as I'm 62, out of shape, and have no sense of balance. Well, it was difficult for me, but Tracy helped me and I felt comfortable about it all, though still annoyed that I let myself get so out of condition. Tracy was moving around everywhere, helping all the students with adjustments or corrections, explaining how we could modify a pose when we had difficulty. She gave me a folded blanket to protect my knees, a bolster, and a block to support my back, and helped me out when I couldn't get into position--while helping everyone else, too--how about that for multitasking. The Fundamentals class was difficult for me so I'll try the Gentle Yoga class next--will definitely continue going to Yoga Balance to get myself healthier: the place is very welcoming and calming and I wanted to hang around and just absorb the mental and emotional peace. It's nice that they have such a selection of classes for the very unready like me to the advanced. The other students (yogis?) were kind and considerate---no one made fun of me, and I felt comfortable in spite of my difficulties. The fees are very reasonable ($10 or $15 per class), there are no contracts or enrollment fees to lock you in, and the studio is small and cozy. I was concerned that it would have an exclusive upscale feel that would intimidate me (it's in a rather upscale neighborhood of McKinney), but it was friendly and inclusive, kind, and welcoming. Really a nice place.

Been going to this studio for a solid month now, and I've gotta say, I kinda love it! It's got a…read morerelaxed zen-like atmosphere, intimate class size, nice group of people from different ages / fitness levels -- and there's something for everyone. I first started out with the restorative yoga, which as Melissa C mentions is much slower paced (and I guess that's the point; so as to restore you). It was helpful in the sense that it got me out of my head for an hour, and I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed. Then I decided maybe the power yoga would give me more of a cardio workout, and it did! I was famished half way through, I think it's more for intermediate level. Right now I'm really enjoying the Beginner 1 classes. It goes through a good foundation of poses, and Jessica does well to balance more challenging variations with easier modifications, so you get to listen to your body and follow according to your individual needs. The forehead massage at the end with essential oils is a nice touch, haven't seen this at any other place. Overall if you're looking for a studio in Rockwall, I suggest going through some of the different classes offered here with various teachers, to find one that feels right for you. Right now, I'm so glad I found this place!

The only thing I wish is there was decor on the walls or windows in the studio so I could focus on something during practice. Other than that, I like the intimate size, changing rooms, clean bathrooms, ample waiting area, etc. I've only attended Beginner classes taught by Jessica, one of the owners. She's even keeled and knowledgable - the real deal. I like how her classes are never the same from day to day: Different parts of my body get worked on from class to class. (I've been to classes before where the teacher seemed to favor certain postures.) She's great at giving modifications if my body isn't willing to go "there" and tips for making a posture or stretch more challenging. I've come away sore from her class once (heavy on the abs). I usually leave feeling stretched out and relaxed. I suppose I'd like for mid-class to lead up to some sort of flow, more Sun Salutations perhaps - just for a few minutes - to get my heart going a bit more. Maybe there's another class I need to try for that. My favorite thing is the Savasana at the end. The studio I was a part of before practiced this for a good amount of time at the end of every practice, and I haven't been to one since that consistently did it for a good amount of time. Jessica does here and even gives a quick, relaxing forehead massage using essential oils. Yay for the human touch! I do miss the yoga-nidra practice from my last place, but I can do that myself now. Overall, I'm just happy to have found a real studio - not a random class at the Y, not that crazy hot yoga doesn't embody all that yoga is suppose to be, but true mind/body/spirit place.

Earlier in the week I went to Katie's 5:30 AM vinyasa class! Be aware if you arrive right on time early mornings the door may be locked, it seems to be an automatic feature since no one was checking people in the lobby. Katie saw me and immediately let me and another girl in. The yoga studio is smaller than I'm used to but it made for an intimate session and Katie was able to quickly make adjustments. She is pretty hands on, which as a local fellow fitness instructor I am very used to. But it may be something you mention if you are not keen on people touching you. Proper alignment is important to me in yoga, especially a faster paced class, and honestly this has been very healing for me after years of running my body into the ground with ultramarathon and endurance racing. But since I've been training for a fall trail race (!) I am getting back into my namaste practice. They have other amazing things there as well as Pilates and reformer looking machines. They are also on Class Pass so I will be dropping back in to visit.

I think the studio owner is very knowledgeable and grounded in providing a highly principled and safe space for everyone. I have had minor strains and postural issues for a while now that are finally improving and virtually asymptomatic after a few months of one on one private lessons. Other pilates and fitness category studios can be very high energy and are mostly a lot of fun, but they don't offer much individual feedback or correction, and discomfort from old strains or poor posture tends to get worse without someone who knows what they're doing look out for you. Monthly memberships and barre, yoga, etc are also offered here which is a great plus for when your wellness attention span is in need of variety. I've been here off and on now for over 2 years, and it's been absolutely worthwhile. Lela might be the most cheerful front desk staff I get to run into all the time lol. But in general also, everyone here is great.

Because I'm a parent to an 8 month old that I had to hire childcare for just to make this class and I drove from 30 minutes away in ice and slush. But that doesn't matter because it's not my business. What does matter is that I was told there was a 5 minute grace period. Now that I know that there is not, I know that YogaSix does not work for me. Extreme rigidity does not fit in with my life right now. Which is a decision I could've made before spending $300 on a class pack. My hope is that this review provides someone else the transparency i wanted for myself. update in response to management's response: your reply insinuates that we've spoken about more than one incident and that i was late it by more than 5 minutes. was that your intention? the facts are: i have taken 7 classes and was late once. and on that day, i arrived at 12:03 (3 minutes late) and was not allowed entry. why not check the cameras to confirm? that contradicts your statements upon sign up and in your response that you have a 5 minute grace period. i'm also not the only review to mention this and you seem to be defensive in receiving feedback instead of looking at it as an opportunity for growth.
