This was a level 1 pilates class, it was nice to go back and learn the proper form, as I have not consistently done pilates in months. This class was challenging but not overly painful which was nice. Her mic was not working which at times was a little hard to hear, but Kelsea made sure to circle the room so everyone could hear her. The studio itself is gorgeous, I could not get over how cute of a room it was. Parking was also very easy and convenient.

If it's your first time definitely come early so you can get an idea on how to use the machines. This was a 50 min class that worked my entire body. I was amazed at how much balance and core was worked into these workout sessions. I need to prioritize it more. Can't wait For my next class. The club isn't super huge but people can navigate fine. If you have class pass the code they provide to get inside the door didn't work. I had to wait for someone to let me in. Parking is great. I did a 9:30 pm class on Tuesday, and i love the variety of the times of the classes. This class was only 30 minutes, and I felt like I got more of a kick out of it, than some of these 50 minute classes I take. I took the class, Powers30: Core + Upper Body, with Kayla, and she was amazing. She was encouraging, and helpful with correcting the wrong form.

I've been obsessed with the megaformer workout these past few months and I've found it…read moretransformative for my core and tendencies towards injuries. I normally go to slt in NYC (which is phenomenal) but have been very curious about sculpt. I went this am and while one class is hardly the means for a rating, I found the studio meh as far as megaformer workouts. Don't get me wrong. This workout is difficult and not geared towards beginnings. The straps, balancing and movements cause one to need a few times to get the gist of it. Add on to the general difficulty! So why 3 stars for sculpt. Playlist and drill sergeant like instruction made the class not fun. She counted 20-19-18.... more repeatedly. Grrrr. I found myself repeated looking at the clock which is something I rarely do. In addition, music was circa 1980s and definitely a feed issue to the stereo because there was a scratchy sound for parts of the class. Moves and corrections were generally very good, however. As I've mentioned with other specialty classes it's the instructor that makes all the difference. I'm super spoiled I live in NYC and fortunately a couple of my favorite folks are not only at the tops in their field, some have even developed cult status (so says allure magazine). Best practices equal always a fresh playlist (I've never heard the same list twice for my favorites), good choreography, energy and corrections. So for $35 a class, I'd hope that I get just that. Otherwise I could go to the free classes at my gym. I think solid core which I rate 4.5 stars is better on instruction and energy, music also could be improved. 3 stars bc any megaformer class is a minimum of ok, but the extra factor is instruction and music.

For any beginners, you're able to have a free intro class to understand 1) how to best use the reformer, and 2) understand general modifications you can make when starting out (e.g., if you need a waffle mat to help stabilize your core while on the reformer). Some of my favorite classes include the hybrid classes or the Barre class. At times, I feel that the mat Pilates works my core even more than the reformer, making the stretch reformer Pilates classes great on my "off" days.

Vanessa has a busy and successful physical therapy practice yet sets aside time each week to offer a few classes and private lessons in Pilates. The classes are so small (no more than four or five students) that she is able to closely monitor everyone and individualize the exercises as necessary. The classes are fun, always varied and she keeps them challenging. In addition to sessions on the Reformer, Vanessa offers pre- and post-natal classes and a weekly Bone Building and Balance class that has really been helpful to me in preventing falls.

Even though her deep and resounding knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology is very impressive, her dedication has meant the most to me. Every injury I've had, day or night, she has been there for me with a quick response and a tremendous amount of compassion.
