This was my first time taking a Solid Core class and it was challenging but it was worth it. They have beginner classes but I registered for the "Off-Peak Signature 50 class" with Kendra and she was great! If it's your first time definitely come early so you can get an idea on how to use the machines. This was a 50 min class that worked my entire body. I was amazed at how much balance and core was worked into these workout sessions. I need to prioritize it more. Can't wait For my next class. The club isn't super huge but people can navigate fine. If you have class pass the code they provide to get inside the door didn't work. I had to wait for someone to let me in. Parking is great. Did my first ever solidcore class and I loved it! I used class pass to see if this is something I would want to invest in, and I can confidently say that it is. I did a 9:30 pm class on Tuesday, and i love the variety of the times of the classes. This class was only 30 minutes, and I felt like I got more of a kick out of it, than some of these 50 minute classes I take. Solidcore Wildwood is one of my favorite spots to get in a seriously challenging workout. The classes are intense--in the best way possible. It's one of those workouts where you feel every muscle working and leave knowing you gave it your all. If you're looking to push yourself and really build strength, this is the place. The location is super convenient, and parking is usually easy with plenty of spots in the Wildwood shopping center lot. One of the best perks is being able to grab a bite afterward--there are so many great food options just steps away, whether you want a healthy smoothie or a full meal. It makes post-workout plans so seamless. Highly recommend this location if you're looking for a killer workout and a convenient, well-located studio! read more

OH EM GEE!! Okay, first let me say this. I purchased the new client 2 class package. I signed up for the beginners class and was SO nervous. I arrived 15 minutes early as instructed and there was a class going on. I was like uh oh, am I late? Am I really early? What's going on? I waited a few minutes and finally some people started walking in. The class before mine finished up and I saw the instructor, Lianna, walking to the front. I wanted to introduce myself and just let her know I was new (aka be nice to me cause I'm gonna be awful lol). Lianna was sooo nice and I felt really good about my decision to take this class. She then tells me she didn't have me on the roster and this wasn't a beginners class but she welcomed me to stay. Not going to lie I felt extremely intimidated lol. She was kind enough to do a quick introduction for me and (hopefully) the other girls in the class didn't mind. She dimmed the lights, turned on the music and we were off! This was by far one of if not the most challenging work outs I've had in a long time! It was fantastic though! I loved Lianna! She was so upbeat and motivational (she kept telling me I was amazing even though I didn't feel like it). Every time I felt like I couldn't push any further I would hear my name on the mic like "yes Renee you got this". I left the class drenched in sweat but feeling so good! Not just physically(my body was legit shaking) but mentally I felt really proud of myself! I can definitely see this being my thing and am really looking forward to my next class! read more

I had an amazing workout with Natalie this past Thursday. She was very motivational, and definitely pushed me to have a harder workout than I planned coming in. After taking multiple classes at this and neighboring locations, Natalie incorporated moves on the reformer that I had never seen or done! I will have to say I don't find the studio to be as clean as I remember a few months ago. I felt debris and pebbles as I was walking around the machine/studio, and didn't feel comfortable walking around barefoot like I have before. Maybe it was just today... however, I still enjoy coming to this location because of the free parking (definitely hard to find in Bethesda), and the convenience of multiple restaurants in the plaza. read more

Oh-Em-Gee!!! First time at Solidcore but I decided to take a chance and sign up for regular Full Body class instead for beginner. I figured I've familiar with Pilates and core movements, think I should be ok. Lol yes and no! Place is located by wildwood shopping center where Balducci is, so while there are plenty of lot parking, some days could get very crowded. Good thing I decided on a Sunday so parking wasn't an issue. When you first came in, small front desk area and to the left are a couple of benches with built-in lockers to store your stuff. Jackets hang area are to the right of it. The blue light around the studio gives a calming vibes all around. Came in and greeted by Anne, very friendly and sweet instructor who told me I should be ok but I would feel all the shaking even after the class. She was fast and very upbeat during class but still very helpful and correcting your posture should you need to be corrected. When she said you will be shaking after class, yep! Sore on my stomach, glutes even as I'm writing this. Class is VERY intense but it is well worth it for your body. I will def be back this week, after I soaked my soreness away! Will probably try a beginner class should I find a schedule that I can get into. I SHALL BE BACK! read more

If you've ever had masochistic thoughts, then this place is probably for you. Somehow, [solidcore] has me roped in, and I cannot get enough of these workouts that have me praying that they end from the first second of those 50 minutes to the last. Solidcore is a great spot for anyone who likes a challenge! I've been to 10 classes and not once has one been exactly the same! The classes focus on slow movements to really target specific groups and work them to muscle failure. When I consistently attend solid core classes, I feel myself getting stronger extremely quickly. Additionally the coaches are very helpful with encouraging you, showing you proper form, demoing moves, and letting you know that you're not gonna die. Where solid core loses a star for me is in the price. It's over $20 a class and that's not affordable for some people especially if they are going a couple times a week. With those prices it would be more economical to just join a gym. Additionally this location loses a star because I feel like the area around the machines is kind of dusty and the floor needs to be swept more often. Other than those few cons, if highly recommend giving solid core a try no matter your fitness level! read more

Updating my review following my second class with Katherine: Continue to be amazed by this workout and the machine that is used in [solidcore]. The exercises are so creative and smart. I definitely intend to continue with [solidcore] and will be incorporating this regularly into my routine. I also love this location: I love the lack of fans that plague most group fitness classes at gyms and freeze my muscles; love the ceiling-to-floor mirrors that wrap the walls on both sides of the room. These are so helpful for not only seeing yourself but also the instructor who will hop on open machines to demonstrate during class and neighbor classmates. Mirrors are especially useful when you are beginning. I like the floors and hardware look to the studio: easy to clean and more hygienic than carpeting. I also recommend stretching and having lots of protein immediately after the workout to maximize results and recovery. I am so impressed with this workout and the environment. I completed one [solidcore] session (an all levels class) with a friend at 5:30 PM with Bethann yesterday. I came early so that we could get oriented and informed about the movements and the concept. The music is loud, the intensity is high, and the challenge appears to be never ending. It is not a workout that you can manage to do daily, unless you are super beast human and recover quickly or if you do the movements with low/ light resistance. It's a great workout to incorporate for people who attend gyms or do other things like spinning or boxing. The name is accurate and descriptive of the workout. My abs and core were engaged from the moment the class started. I love that they are honest in warning you not to show up if you haven't been working out regularly because you do need to have a strength foundation in order to get through the workout effectively. You get a first timer discount and an additional package discount after your first class, which is really nice. The studio is clean but keep in mind you do have to be barefoot, so if you're OCD, just bring wipes for your feet or something like that, but as a group fitness instructor likes to say at Equinox, "you have an immune system, so please chill." They didn't appear to have showers but they do have single bathrooms where you can change and drawer cubes under the lobby benches where you can stash your shoes/ flip flops and keys. Finally, they have towels and you can bring water to store on your machine, which the studio has/ is patenting. It's a very cool apparatus which despite having so many moving parts, is smartly designed in such a way that your fingers and toes don't get chopped off. The instructors coach you throughout the 50 minute class and articulate the exercises very well. The music is loud and the lights are blue and fun. If you have ever gone to a gym class or even did a home workout video and the instructor tells you to "contract your abdominal muscles" and you have no idea what they are talking about let alone how to do it, then this review is for you. Through what can only be classified as intense positive reinforcement, Solidcore jump starts your education in learning the ins and outs of your abdominal muscles, balance, and muscle control. Each class starts promptly on time. Getting in a few minutes early, especially if it is your fast class can help you get acclimated. The instructors will demo any new or more unique moves before class starts. Each instructor has their own way of teaching class and every class has some similarities but are never exactly the same class. Each workout focuses on full body or specific areas but you will always get a core workout. The classes are very high energy and you will sweat, a lot. They have towels and disinfectant wipes to wipe down the machine each workout. Low lights, bass fueled music, and positive affirmations stamped on the floors and walls will motivate you to keep going. If you give it a shot try to stick it out for at least 8-10 classes. You eventually get into the rhythm of micro movement and balancing on a giant contraption. This location is always clean and there is always a front desk person. The bathroom has a variety of convenient and thoughtful items that I appreciate (face wash, lotion, deodorant, etc) although I don't think I've ever used any. Parking is lot parking and free but its in a busy shopping center so it may be a search sometimes. Give it a shot, your future baby abs will thank you. read more

I have officially finished my 6th SolidCore class with 5 different instructors (2 locations) so I'm now comfortable giving a review. Expense - Let's be real here. This is not a poor person's fitness class. You need to have a bank account or access to someone who loves you and are willing to share their bank account with you. In short, this class is not cheap! Environment - Appropriately designed studios and the classes are held with the lights very low. There are words of wisdom and encouragement all around and plenty of "SweatLanas" (the equipment). Instructors - I have worked with 5 different instructors and all of them were superb. They each had their own strengths. I've narrowed it down to the 2 that I will stick with. I based my decision solely on style. But I won't name the instructions here. Love this place. Love this work out. Love the encouragement and my peers at the place who tell me that they also started off nervous but that it gets better. Highly recommended. read more

If you want a workout that actually gives results, then you need to try solidcore! A friend of mine dragged me to a class and despite all the soreness and aches I felt the next day, it was totally worth it! The instructors are all super nice and mindful of the fact that all class attendees are on different levels.The class is so tough, there are moments I have to just lay down for a minute to take a breather. The teachers motivate me and help push me to keep going, but are fully aware when I have reached my breaking point. The parking situation has never been an issue for me, there is a huge parking lot shared by multiple retailers. If you haven't tried solidcore yet, I would recommend at least trying it once! :) read more

Alicia G made me do it! Take a Solidcore class, that is. Note that this review comes from a place of nearly pathological aversion to classes. It's with great reluctance when I report that I actually pretty much enjoyed myself in this studio... ... as much as one can enjoy himself when drenched in sweat, shaking and unable to physically hold myself up, and breathing heavily because my muscles are so achingly tired that I think I might faceplant into something (not always a soft padded machine part). However, the way the torture devices (I don't recall what the actual name of the thing was) are designed, and the way our sparklingly peppy and friendly drill-mistress had us using the equipment, there's really no good way to chill out and take a breather for the entire fifty minutes of exhausting activity without injuring yourself. So, you just kind of have to grunt and shudder and keep on going. Brilliant, really. Also, just to give myself a little bit of credit, I'm not exactly a completely sedentary slob that resembles one of the human beings from Wall-E. I think friends will attest that I hit up the climbing gym on a regular basis and that I can haul my own bodyweight up a fifty foot wall repeatedly, maybe even one-handed. So, there's truth in Solidcore's advertising that the workout is designed to take you to failure. Read: make you fail. Repeatedly. But at least you have a totally upbeat instructor to cheer you on as you're busy failing. Repeatedly. She even does it in a way that comes across completely convincingly without judgment. I would utterly fail that certification test. Fair warning: I also learned that one cannot split a package deal. I attempted to gift my spare class from the two-pack I purchased (mostly because it's currently less expensive than a single class) to AG, only to discover this policy. But, when you consider that you're basically getting the equivalent of a personal training session and free use of mediaeval vehicle of torment... it's actually completely reasonable. While I can't say that I'll be coming back anytime soon (since there are no Solidcores in NYC), I can say that my ass and abs will be hurting for days. So... I'd say that's winning post-Single's Day! read more

Been going to solidcore since 2016 so figured it's about time I write a review! Love the wildwood studio! Tried other studios in the DMV area, which have all been great, but figured I'd start here since this is the first studio I went to regularly. I love that this workout is a low impact, but high intensity option for strength training...it will definitely kick butt. If you're looking for something that is effective, fun, and challenging this is the workout for you. All the instructors are super engaging and motivating. The biggest difference between the coaches I notice is probably music choice. The wildwood studio is in a shopping center with free parking. The parking lot has plenty of spots, but they can fill up quickly and the area can get pretty busy so make sure to build in time for that. An overall pro about DMV solidcore is that you can hop between studios in the area, if you have a package! That was great when I worked in VA and lived in MD. If you need a workout that pushes your limits or takes you out of your plateau, solidcore is it! read more

Four words: Solidcore. Is. My. Drug. I am absolutely in love with this workout. Its very intense, and you'll feel like you will never get better at it. But don't worry, I've been to about 40 classes and I will still tell every neighbor I have that I struggle just like everyone else. During the workout I just want to lay there and just say "yup. I regret everything" but after?! My body is like "yaaaasss get sexy!" Trust me, this ain't no sissy gym. Another thing I love about [solidcore] is the warm welcome you get from every employee when you first walk in. I have been coming to this location since the beginning and I probably will never go anywhere else. I've built a second family with the coaches and I love them all! I've gone thru surgery, many colds, and ER visits and each coach was there for me like relatives. Hats off to Artemis who holds down this studio like no other! I first heard of [solidcore] about a year ago from my friend Kim. Kim mentioned how hard and intense these classes were. I was working out with a personal trainer 2x a week and spinning 2-4x a week, doing both weight training and cardio, so I couldn't imagine a [solidcore] class being THAT much more difficult than what I was already enduring. So with my already full workout plate, I never got around to trying it. But fast forward almost a year and [solidcore] has popped up in Bethesda! Yippie! Prior to my first class, I watched a video on [solidcore]'s website, and the sweat dripping off people's faces & bodies kinda freaked me out. These were some FIT people. With visible abs and everything. Okay, so if those people found [solidcore] to be tough, then wtf was going to happen to me?! Nervous, I dragged my still somewhat skeptical ass to class and within minutes I wanted to die. And from that class, I was in pain for dayssss. 2 months and many classes later, each class is just as challenging as the one before...if not more. But those 50 grueling and painful minutes pass by so quickly. And before I know it, I'm at home feeling empowered and ready for the next one! All I can say is that this place is addicting-in a good way! It is the most efficient workout for those too busy to workout. I used to run 2-3 miles everyday with countless push-ups/crunches and have completed 6 marathons and never did I feel as strong as I do now. You don't have to do this everyday to see results and the class is only 50 minutes! I have been coming here twice a week since March 2017 (about 150 classes in) and have gone down two sizes without altering what I eat. I noticed some changes after a few weeks and then even more about 3-4 months after I started. The instructors are friendly, informative and encouraging. The best full body workout around!!! I feel stronger after every class. You constantly have resistance on your body for the entire workout and all the moves are done very slowly. This is different from some other workouts but is so effective!!! After every class, I say "that was the hardest class ive ever taken". You can never plateau here, you just keep challenging yourself! This class gets all of the shakes going and I love it!!! The new wildwood studio is beautiful and spacious. The new machines are so nice! The coaches are all very encouraging and fun. Every class ends with high fives all around which encourages the fun community spirit that goes on around here! This location of Solidcore knows how to do it right. I've been to several other locations in the DMV area, and this one is by far the best one. From the instructors to the receptionists to the other students in the class, everyone is very nice and friendly. Due to my schedule, I've only taken classes with Erin and Dorraine, and they are absolutely the BEST! They really encourage you to push to your limits, without making you feel embarassed at all. Even though this location is not the most convenient location for me to go to, it is the only one I will go to, because at some of the other locations, the instructors can be somewhat snooty and condescending and make me feel very judged. I'm someone who absolutely HATES doing core work, but the instructors here make me want to come to class week after week. Not to mention, the equipment and facilities are very clean. The vibes are awesome. Parking is usually not a problem and is free. Bethesda Bagels is also right next door :) read more

I started doing SolidCore at the Old Town location, because one of my barre instructors also was an instructor at SolidCore. It is pricey, but worth it. And I try to think of the cost as the cost of a personal trainer because this is what you're getting. Each class is limited to a small number of people, and the instructors walk around and correct form. I have seen awesome results and am challenged every time I go. I've been to a lot of the studios (I work far away from home, and I also try to introduce people to solidcore, so I'll go to studios closer to where they are): Old Town, Wildwood, Tyson's, Cathedral Commons, and Mosaic. The instructors are consistent across the board, but each instructor has their own personal touch. read more

Wow wow wow what an incredible workout. This was 100% the hardest class I have taken anywhere. My legs truly worked until failure, yet I found the workout very safe and manageable due to the simplicity of the moves. There was never anything too complicated. However, for fitness newbies I wouldn't recommend. There is a required amount of core control and muscle memory needed for a workout such as this, and it wouldn't be smart to jump into a class so difficult as a first step into becoming more fit. Make sure to take the beginners class if you are new to fitness. The studio is very nice and the instructor was really great, yet the only reason it doesn't get four stars is the price. 37 dollars for a class is insane. This is unaffordable for most people. However, they are appealing to a certain clientele which is eager to pay 400 a month for a boutique studio. Oh yeah and no showers. Overall, this place is incredible and I can't wait to go back, I'll just have to save up first!! read more

I have been coming to Solidcore at both this location and in downtown Bethesda on and off for about a year. I love it! I've worked out at tons of gyms, and Solidcore is hands-down the hardest strength-training workout I've ever done. It maintains what I love about traditional Pilates in terms of toning your core, but also adds an incredible leg workout and some upper body moves as well (more so if you do an "abs and arms" class). I don't know how I can rate Solidcore because it depends on the instructors, but I'll rate it 5 stars due to the cleanliness of the place and i like how the machines have spaces in between to walk around and it isn't as crowded as the Bethesda location. Some instructors are harder than others, some instructors have really bumping music than others - so it's hard to rate, but I do like the workout. Definitely works the core like crazy. I highly recommend taking Katherine A - I believe she's at both locations, Wildwood AND Bethesda. I go to the Wildwood location - free parking and it can get super crowded, but you can find parking .. if not near it, somewhere else (walk there). Solidcore instructions go by super fast when they talk, don't fret, just follow the people next to you. I've been there more than 5 times already and I still can't remember fast enough what to do when they go to the next exercise. The only thing I STRONGLY DISLIKE ABOUT SOLIDCORE is how EXPENSIVE IT IS. read more

I took my first [solidcore] class back in january and have become hooked ever since. For years i would struggle to really commit to a workout schedule at the gym because after a few months, i would just become totally bored and stop going. This is such an amazing workout because in a short 50 minutes, you have a super intense, FULL BODY workout and you actually feel as if your body is changing. I have noticed results already and that is what keeps me going!! Also, the community you become a part of is another main reason i became addicted. Everyone supports each other to get through the workout and the high-five you give your neighbor at the end of class is one of my favorite aspects of class. The workout is super, super difficult and i would suggest beginners to take a 101 class first to get accustomed to the machines and main moves performed during class. I signed up for my first class to do some 'easy' low impact body work while I scaled back my running mileage to rest an injury. Mind you, I'm not a group exercise person; in the past, I've found classes to be chaotic, loud, and full of obnoxiously competitive people. I'm a solo runner. I like to experience the peace, quiet and hours of sweating as I think through life stuff. I like to hear the birds and watch the sunrise. So stepping into the studio for the first time was difficult for me. Halfway through that class, I said to myself "holy cow, what am I doing? This is not easy." Two days later, a major case of DOMS set in and I was hooked. I've been going twice a week for a few weeks now. The coaches are motivating and supportive. They push you to YOUR limit and a little beyond without turning the experience into a competition like other gyms. They provide modifications to accommodate weakness and/or injury and provide ample guidance so that even the greenest participant understands what's happening. The overall atmosphere is positive and supportive.
